First three minutes: man, I should really get into this stuff As soon as EmuChicken shows the harness and wires in his cabinet: man, I'm glad I'm not into this stuff
Haha. Yeah. Will need to experiment, but I think this board may be stereo- need to wire the l and r to the end nodes and then grab an earth for the base of that audio plug.
I do like the concept. Most of the time these systems emulate the vertical games very poorly and the screen ratio is usually stretched. I am a huge vertical shmup fan so i appreciate these types of products.
It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t support crt low resolution, otherwise would be just like in the arcade old times. I have tried to add arcade games into pandora box dx (jamma version, not family vertion) if adding vertical shooter game roms into roms_fba2012 folder, some games do automatically rotate into tate mode, and in crt 15hz low res. Only fba rom set works, mame rom set won’t rotate. Galaga, galaxian, mazinger, contra/super contra, puck man, explosive breaker, eight force, Ajax, sky fox, hot pinball, devastators… etc. I hope this find can help someone who still want to play vertical shooter games on a crt tv, which has scanline and feels more close to arcade experience.
I love mine. It came in the light blue case for Air Attack 2 which was supposed to have 56 games. Boy was I surprised when it had 146 games. I did find one game that was unplayable due to slowdown, but I can't remember which one that is (I have so much else I can play so it has been a while since I turned it on in my converted Arcade1up Galaga cab). The sound in my Zaxxon does work. Maybe you have a bad rom copy.
On paper it doesn't look like it'd be able to play that well, but seriously, I was surprised at how much this punched compared to the King of Air 2. I think the lack of HD filter made this one far more authentic and fun to play. BTW: There are two versions on the box, both Super Zaxxon and Zaxxon... That could have been the issue.
Hi, did you install this in an arcade 2 up cabinet with vertical monitor? was the screen upside down, if so, how did you fix it. How many button does this board require? thanks
Man I wish you had made this video last month 😂 I bought one of these to play in my New astro city. Seller said it worked in jamma crt cabs. So I was annoyed when it do not. No worries I thought. I will play it in my naomi. Nope! Different screen resolution 😔 So now I'm stuck with it. In a pile along with my pan5 and pan 4. Maybe one day I will get round to making a setup to use it
@@TeamPandory I've got a pandora dx in it at moment. Does work great however I feel the vertical shmups play a bit better on the pandora 5. The dx does have a great selection of games though. I used to have a mame pc in it but that died and I just couldn't be bothered setting a new one up with the soft 15khz boot and that. I know the original king of air works great on the Astro but they seem so expensive and hard to find nowadays
@@johnboydojo Was always a fan of Carrier Airwing and Gradius V for Horizontal, and Super Strike Gunner (I think for the SNES) for vertical. Prefer style and a clue as to what's going on than utter mayhem- but a nice mix is always nice.
@@TeamPandory Yeah it's an awesome game with great visuals, part of a trilogy..? ( I think..?) Haha
To me it's unforgivable that they went through the effort to make a vertical game system and then left out games like Dig Dug and Pac Man/Ms. Pac Man... Granted, there are a lot of good games included, but how hard would it have been to add just a few more? It would even have better marketing as a 150 games in 1 system. :-D
If you don't have audio already set coming from the JAMMA harness, you may need to wire an extra cable from it. Check the JAMMA pin-outs and solder on an extra cable or two to go to an amplifier.
Can you test the game “Image Fight” please (or anyone else that has the same hardware). It’s a few pages from the end of the game list. It plays fine but the sound seems to mute every second or so. Would like to know if it’s on all units or just mine.
You're far, far better off spending a bit more and getting the King of Air 2 which has 516 games. Yes, a ton of of the King Of Air 2's games are literally duplicates and hacks of other games (Galaxian and Space Invaders are the worse offenders) but you still have a net gain of a ton of games that this doesn't offer, not to mention a variety of genres like puzzle games and racing games in addition to the shmups. Plus Pandory works on the King of Air 2 to get rid of that nasty bilinear filter if you so want it. Plus stereo sound. Plus HDMI as an option. Plus you can add your own games. Plus plus plus. Don't buy this. Buy a King of Air 2 if you want a tate all in one board.

Nice looking board. Nice to see a vertically oriented game collection being offered in a vertical orientation! Looks pretty decent!
This manual is very similar to the ones I got with my PandoraBox5S units. Specs are about the same too.
