They’re both iconic, and while as an 80s kid the worm is what I grew up with, the meatball was what NASA was rocking when they were in the golden era of spaceflight, and therefore will always resonate more.
connecting the worm low morale which doomed Skylab (which was not a failure by the way) and Challenger is pretty far fetched. Also, worm eradication became a fixation for Goldin that was laughable. And the worm has also made a comeback on Commercial Crew and SLS (although in all fairness, that was after this video was made) and so far is not responsible for any accidents. One should also note, that the worm is probably even more iconic than the meatball, especially given its appearance all over the place for the last decade or so
I was born during the first meatball and witnessed the change to the worm. I am so glad NASA returned to the meatball. So, it’s very clear that I am #TeamMeatball !!
I heard that the red thing is a tongue of sneak. Is it true? Somehow it's bizarre, why this red part symbol is for early research?? Doesn't make a sense...for a group like NASA. we believe that they must be very logic but is not for the logo.
Or Galaxy once was a massive sun within a whole nother universe or in very very older Galaxy and when it exploded or basically when that sun. In the same matter that or sun will die eventually that was our big bang
@@megaraph5551 HAha aren't I intelligent for bringing SpaceX into a discussion about spaceflight!!1! Did you know SpaceX reuses rockets!1! They're the future and NASA will go bankrupt because funny meme man will save the day. Wake up mate, the industry does not revolve around SpaceX. Bringing it up was interesting 7 years ago because they're the new small guys with big ideas but it's genuinely annoying people thinking they're cool for knowing what SpaceX is.
I find that most “designers” and even artists in general have their head in the clouds and are not grounded in reality. It would be interesting to see a study about drug use between the artistic community and the general population.
On that "meatball": The idea that one day some foreign civilisation’s first glimpse of human culture might be this amateurish abomination of a “logo”, which looks like something from a 60s Jetsons cartoon, makes me cringe.
Narrator: "For the next 18 years the worm prevailed. Yet it was during this period at Nasa that morale had gone down. After the failures of Skylab and the Challenger, they needed a rocket boost... Nasa ditched the worm and in a matter of days and it worked and has been making progress in space ever since." Who wrote this bullshit? Yay, since 1992 everything at NASA has been perfect! Apart from the Mars Polar Lander failure in 2001, the Columbia disaster in 2003, George Bush directing NASA in 2003 to send men back to the Moon by 2020 then that being cancelled, plus another dozen other cancelled missions. I don't think there is any correlation between the NASA logo and morale at Nasa. What does impact Nasa is having incompetent managers who don't listen to staff & cause disasters, different administrations dicking around with Nasa by announcing programs and then cancelling them, progressive cuts in funding - the list goes on. The logo is the least of their worries. And not sure why you think Skylab was a failure, it was a prototype, a stepping stone to bigger and better things & a lot was learnt from that program. Unless you are talking about its uncontrolled re-entry in 1979 at the end of the program but I'm sure that didn't dent the morale at the agency too much.
The WORM is back! 🎆
Hell yeah, brother!
The explanation for the fork tongue was honestly hilarious lol
The serpents tongue got a wrap on us?
Had to scroll down quite a lot to find the first comment with common sense.
@@realityandnaturepill Yes me too, jesus it's VERY refreshing to see atleast you two Somedays I feel like Nada in They Live !!!
#teammeatball I didn't even know the other logo existed !
There is a red snake symbol going through the middle.
They’re both iconic, and while as an 80s kid the worm is what I grew up with, the meatball was what NASA was rocking when they were in the golden era of spaceflight, and therefore will always resonate more.
#teamworm did looked futuristic, but #teammeatball was iconic
team meatball
Team meatball
I didn't even know there was another logo. #TeamMeatball
I can't find any reference to the "early research project" that the red lines represent. Can someone help??
Its a serpent (snake) tongue, imo reference to the biblical snake 🐍
it is two legs flying in space
I don’t understand why NASA doesn’t just use the meatball, but with the worm font. Best of both worlds.
And for the very same reason that they brought back the meatball for, they brought back the worm logo for nostalgia and to boost morale.
It's the serpent tongue
What is this red seal I've seen it before can't put my finger on it if anyone knows please do tell, thanks
The red V symbolizes a hyperbolic wing which was under development around the time the design was created
*its iconic because it’s NASA*
#teammeatball
#TeamMeatball because it symbolizes what NASA stands for

Those who came here after watching jim twit...
Why does the NASA logo (the old skool one from the 50s that they use on UA-cam) have two red legs and flying sperm in the logo?

I’m a designer (kinda) and the worm one looked simple and boring
I’m just here to be the 6th comment

Just trust God and do research
