- Let me know if I missed anyone or if anybody should be added to the list!
Because a RnB song came out during the disco era doesn't stop it from being RnB. Disco doesn't trump RnB. Having a dance beat beat doesn't stop it from being RnB. This is a cover of a Billy Stewart tune from the '65.
Exactly - it’s a jam to us, and disco to someone else. 🙂
Word! Or as they say now, Facts!
GQ taps this one baby, both of there hits they covered Billy Stewart!
Exactly! 👍🏽
MAN...I'm with you. I HATE it when people lump mid-70's to mid-80's R&B and Funk as "disco." Easy way to tell is to check out the beat: Disco has a non-stop, thump-thump-thump-thump beat; R&B has syncopated beats.
GQ great underrated group from NYC....their biggest hit was a MONSTER CLASSIC from 1979 called "Disco Nights"..... They do justice to this song but NOBODY can touch the original from Billy Stewart....ive been requesting you do Billy Stewart for awhile but no luck.....btw.... If you ever react to Billy Stewart do this song and Billy's biggest hit " Sitting In The Park"
You have to pay for requests...request songs on his Streamlabs site the link is in his description.
Wrong-this is actually their highest-charting hit.
check out the billy stewart version as well as "sitting in the park"
Billy Stewart "Summertime" and "I Do Love You" from Jimmy Bishop On Stage Live at the Nixon Theatre (1967): ua-cam.com/video/2pLAYkKZyeE/v-deo.html
@@ujimajame4601 .....thanks for that link....first time hearing it.....what a GREAT singer.....i have no doubt that had he lived he would have been one of the GOATS and In the same league as Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.....unfortunately he died in a car accident at the young age of 33 yrs old in 1970
The Billy Stewart original remains my favorite. Listen to him doing "Sitting In The Park" and his amazing cover of "Summertime" as well.
"Sitting In The Park": ua-cam.com/video/m_Zeka2oZbA/v-deo.html
Love this you...especially when it's played at the end of the movie called BABY BOY..TYRESE character Jodi plays it and tells Melvin this is grown folks 🎵 music. Then arrives to his girl house to rest in her arms lol perfect ending.
it's just an oldie but goodie... 🎶🎶🎶❤️👌✌️🇿🇦
This is a classic track...R&B
A solid tribute to the late great Billy Stewart.
@5:05 this was played at the end of the baby boy movie
Man I love this song. Can never hear it enough
Their song "Sitting In The Park" is an absolute banger!
Near peak disco era. Make My Dreams a Reality probably my next fave from them. Of course Disco Nights was the one they were really known for. Not too many hits - but big ones.
"Make My Dreams A Reality" is one of my favorites as well: ua-cam.com/video/qBK3XxJ83bE/v-deo.html
That’s a certified jam also check out “Disco Nights” and “Sitting In The Park” (original done by Billy Stewart).
Still got disco nights 7 inch 45. They are from Bronxdale. The Bronx.
Ha, ha, ha!!! You said nice lil' slow jam. Back in the day this song right here was played on the radio stations until it melted!!!
This song gives those 70s good vibes for me.
I miss this time and this music. I feel blessed growing up during this time. This is music, this is how it’s supposed to be.
What up JJ! This is a classic remake from a 60's artist Billy Stewart. GQ's "Disco Nights" has one of the "filthiest" beginning "basslines" that I've ever heard, check it out. Peace

Ujima Jame 👍🏽
Elton John once said how liked Billy Stewart, and how he liked his style.
You're like the only person ive found that reacted to this song by gq
Nothing like old time classic music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember when this group came out, the fashion trend change, we were wearing bellbottom Pants. And then started wearing suits. Especially the one from the 30s&40S G.Q stand for Gentlemen quarterly. A popular magazine
that building in the background I believe is "Oscos Disco" in Beverly Hill on La Cienega back in the day ... now no longer there!
Love that song... Sitting in the park is good too.
Love this, I sang along lol. Disco Nights is slammin, give it a go. There's a band called Tierra they have a similar vibe. Try "Together".
Disco Nights is a must
Tierra is a good one!
@@rodneymaddox9867 Yes, Tierra def a jam!!
This was played at end scene of the Baby Boy movie (featuring Tyrese). If you haven’t seen it, watch it.
GQ did a good job with this song. This is a remake of the original Billy Stewart song. Loved the high note, just a oldies but goodie.
YES ! I LOVE this song by GQ .Even though its a remake from Billy Stewart ..it's still a 🔥 Classic!
Bruh JJ, you are amazing to have come all the way across the spectrum and getting acquainted w/ these brothers out of Bronx NY ... real classy cats and always dressed to the nine, and those women on the album cover were fine as that wine!
Not only that cool dudes, use to hang out in the Bronx clubs, down to earth.
As mentioned , " DISCO NIGHTS" is there big hit - and defintely recommended
Straight classic right there.
GQ, nothing but Style & Class;
(GQ)
"i do love you"
"sitting in the park"
(Freddie Jacskon)
"you are my lady"
(Surface)
"happy" "
let's try again"
"closer then friends"
"you are my everything"
"shower me with your love"
Disco Nights will blow you away. One of my favorite records of all time. You have to react to that.
geez, haven't heard this for almost 40 years!
Thanks for sharing!
I love your channel! I am an artist and really appreciate your reaction and vibe. All the best! Hadassah Chavivah
I grew up with this version but is a remake of a Billy Stewart song.
Disco Nights. GQ the jam.
Very popular song , I don't know who i thought sung this song.🤔
I love GQ!!
Listen to the original by Billy Stewart.
But when you check out Stewart, listen to “summertime”
Thanks Much!!
@just jammin... this is the song that Jodi plays at the end of baby boy when he's about to leave start his life with Yvette at the end of the movie when he says... What do you know about this
they also sing sittin in the park, sweet jam but not like this. thanks for this reaction. another jam to react to Shirley Murdock "Spend my whole life with you"
79-80ish? Can't remember which grade I was in. Skip would bring his JVC over and play this song, rewind the tape and repeat all day, he was too much of a bad @$$, the song was good and we needed him healthy to win football games so we never gave him crap over it. That lasted about 3 weeks. We were so happy when he thought "Ain't no stopping us now" was good enough to cut into it. Great memories. "Sitting in the Park", "Boogie oogie oogie" & "Disco Nights" were all near the top of playlists, though I thought it was too soon to remake "Boogie, oogie oogie", especially without putting original spin on it (shrug).
Sabu is Keith Sweat's uncle.
Remake of the great Billy Stewart check out other songs ( fatboy ) (sitting in the park) (summertime) keep great music alive
Awe shit, this was my jam
🎶🎶🎶💯💯💯
Check out Barbara Masons cover of this song from 1968
DISCO NIGHTS (ROCK FREAK)
Requesting Disco nights
Imo the biggest miss in music history isn’t keeping this song in the 1:40-2:17 vibe 🤦🏽♂️
Still a great song tho
You HAVE to check out Disco Nights.
I do love you , 38M views, over 11,000 comments. What can you say.
Disco Nights
I think the billy Stewart version is better
I agree with Rodney Maddox; this is RnB & Soul...not Disco!!!
