You have to protect them knees Handyman. I did a tile job 2 years ago and didn't bang my knee or injure it in any way. Since then my knees have been bothering me, I wished I was wearing knee pads. Now I won't do anything without them. I am 50 , but your future self will thank you.
When I saw the toilet in the shower I thought for a second you were here in Tokyo working in the living room of an apartment LOL, LOTS of unit baths in Tokyo Apartos. Cheers from Tokyo!
This seems like it would be a huge pain to remove in the future. I mean, any tile is going to be like that, but this stuff doesn’t seem like it’d come out easy.
@13:32 Yup - that's exactly how all of the Karen's throw their disposable gloves down in the parking lot at Target after shopping for their essentials. Diet Coke, Hair Dye, and cat food. At least that's how I visualize it when I see them on the ground.
I bought a set. I didn't get the fancy stripes, but the price is a third to half of new. Mine have some sewing repairs, but they are good enough for thrashing and I think are great for the price. I would have preferred zippers over the buttons I received, but I am assuming this is a lottery style purchase. Will buy again.
A mixer gives higher torque at a lower rpm. A drill motor is designed to give high rpm's at a lower torque. If you put too much load on a drill and inhibit it's ability to spin at it's full speed, out comes the smoke due to the increase in current.
I would never use that DITRA stuff again. The waffle print gives it some flex, and I've had a lot of grout crack and come loose because of it. The flex is almost imperceptible, but it's there and bad. I'd rather use the old school flat rubber sheeting.
@@TheHandyman1 Thank you. If we are using a 6x24 or 6x36 we should be good to go? The floor was stained 15 years ago, no major cracks and no missing pieces. There are a couple of uneven spots, nothing major but noticed when we had a pipe break. I appreciate your time.
ditra, stratamat or others membrane are overly expensive, it's as if the manufacturer have concerted to leave the price veryt high for what it is. This is where we need a chinese product since it can be made for 1/10 of the price.
There was some sarcasm in my comment. UA-cam makes more money then I ever could remodeling and fixing houses. So I try to only take jobs that I can take my time and make youtube videos.
The Handyman just remember that UA-cam shouldn’t be your goal for only source of income. Lots of creators get screwed over with their inane policies/rule changes and there’s no guarantee UA-cam will alway remain profitable or always be around.

all them fancy tools , yet no knee pads. My knees hurt just watching you
Legit question: why do you need a decoupling membrane on an old concrete slab? I would think any settling has already occurred.
This is a newer slab over expansive soils.
Looks like a $500 an hour electric repair is the next video 👍🏼

Never thought I’d see the day the handyman put his mustard away but Rona’s got him scared lol
@9:39 heavy breathing intensifies. Nice video handyman. I learned a few things!!
Don't you need to grind off the paint splatters before applying the thin set?
Can you apply the schluder ditra directly over vinyl sheet flooring or would you rip out the vinyl before installing it?
“Bada Bing, Chicken Wing” that’s gonna be my new catchphrase
another great class--need to know about that light please?
Link in the description.
1/2 inch notch makes everything better 💯
What would you do before ditra was around just curious?
Wow, he works so fast he looks like he's in fast motion sometimes!........🙃
What size notched trowel did you use?
@13:32 Yup - that's exactly how all of the Karen's throw their disposable gloves down in the parking lot at Target after shopping for their essentials. Diet Coke, Hair Dye, and cat food. At least that's how I visualize it when I see them on the ground.
Why didn't you use kerdi banda for the seams
Last video before bed. 👌🏽
Is it recommended to use an un notched trowel or is you personal preference?
you have to use notched trowel.
aren't you supposed to apply the thinset with a notched trowel?
That is a tiny trowel my friend!
Did you have to grind the concrete to make the thinset stick?
Get your coveralls here. Mine have lasted over 5 years. amzn.to/2AhSBYQ
I like the high speed talk, somehow I understand it more than the regular speed talk. Also I was saying the comment out loud after inhaling helium
I have finished basement tile floor . Every time it rains it leaks middle the floor. U know how to fix this
Maybe try this one wearing some high heeled deWalts next moon cycle.
I’d really appreciate a link to those styling coveralls tho for real
Link is in the description. 26 bucks from amazon

What is the advantage of a mixer over a standard drill?

@@mrreams711 good info, thanks!
Can the ditra act as a vapor barrier if you have a situation with moisture wicking up thru the slab?
Ditra with Kerdi band at the seams or if your floor is in good shape use a roll on membrane such as aqua defense or red guard.
Do you really need the ditra on concrete slab
You need something to control cracking
You are so handy ! Love it
Where's you're knee pads brother? made mine hurt just watching you
Loved, "It was risky business wearing this hat."
Excellent work and thanks for the content stay safe and take care
Do you use the same thinset to attach the Ditra that you use to set tile?
Stay tuned for the next video. I talk about the type of thinset used and the controversy around it.
Yes crazy at $32 per bag.
My knees hurt from watching you on that concrete floor. No knee pads? I have some nice ones with gel inserts.
Smart work
Great video handyman
What brand of thin set can you recommend? thank you in advance
I just used Schluter Set but didn’t have great luck. Trying a different bag tomorrow as I was not impressed with the adherence on the membrane.
Hurts my knees watching

That is a floor problem, not a Ditra problem.
Do you like the Centerdrive better than the Leatherman?
yes. It's a little bigger so I have to wear it in the leather holder on my belt.
We are considering laying tile in our basement. Did you use a leveling compound first or will this product replace that step?
Leveling compound is only for really messed up floor or you are using very large tiles.

I’m planning for the same, what did you finally do and what tiles did you use
Was there someone in the house with you i thought I heard a child at the end when you were talking about your hat
What thinset are you using?

9:53 mark, you're wondering if you seriously underbid this job.........,
That wall where the door was is really thick.
“Coolest guy around.
Discount code Handy, that is funny. 🤣👍
Fine Gibberish
The only bad thing about this video is the Lowe’s bucket

oh ok
Need to shave for it to work FYI
If you know how to tile, their not gonna break in the first place
You must have knees of steel, I’ve never seen you with knee pads!
I do similar work and I drag a high density kneeling pad around. The Handyman is a beast.
Should have stuck with the leatherman
I still have it.
@@TheHandyman1 I love my leatherman I have like 10 sets of them. 1 stay with right in my bow case.
Im confused how you always get these sweet jobs where you can work for like 2 weeks on something my jobs always want done in 2 days.
I'm The Handyman. I only take jobs where I can make youtube videos. And take as long as I want.
Must not have watched enough of his videos to know he is a true American Badass!!
