chaz Davis You're right you are a nobody, and so am I, and so was Hitchens! Because being a total smart-ass, telling people that God isn't real, DOESN'T make you a somebody!! You say "I don't even amount to a spec of dust compared to Hitchens." I don't know what you think he amounted to, but whatever it was it was only in your mind and I wouldn't want to be compared to it! To most people he wasn't worth the crap they flush down the toilet each day, but that's beside the point. He was only a great mind to people of very low intelligence! Telling people that God isn't real when everyone knows he's REAL is just horribly WRONG! Purposely trying to steer people down the wrong path in life is again, horribly WRONG!! If you want to BELIEVE that God isn't real that's fine but keep it to yourself! I know your thinking we should do the same if we in believe in God. Well NO, YOU'RE WRONG!! We are telling people about an eternity of peace and extreme love and happiness with God and all your loved ones for ever and ever! Telling people that there is God is sending them down a path to an eternity of darkness and loneliness and eternal solitude, with no love no peace and never ever interacting with anyone or anything ever again for the rest of time! Not to mention they might deserve the flames TOO while going through all that!!!! So you might want to think twice before believing ANYTHING Christopher Hitchens had to say!!!! @@upturnedblousecollar5811 You doubt the popularity of Christ? Compared to, what, a system of thought that insists on nothing? That everything is derived from nothing? And that all of this nothing suddenly began in motion as a result of...nothing? Trust me, people generally dislike atheists...atheists dismiss the notion of a deity...that, in turn, means dismissing the notion of a soul...and once you do THAT, well, you wind up dismissing a great deal of what many of us think makes life worth living...But forums like this will always tend to be populated by the fringe elements....there are some Christian apologists who do quite well defending their faith on an intellectual basis, but they are the exception rather than the rule...and some who do well defending the idea, in generic terms, of a deity...but the advantage is always with the atheist....We live in a physical realm...God would be, by definition, outside of that...outside of the things that can be measured, or weighed, or observed...Even in Biblical times, there are relatively few physical manifestations of the supernatural. So you wind up with a debate between people who embrace the totality of being human...the sense of awe, and wonder, and reverence, that have always been a part of our species...and another group who take some manner of perverse pride in dismissing anything other than the evidence of their senses...

Mister G is quite correct. Hitchens supported free speech, something the left never has and are attacking on a daily basis. But I have to ask what you mean by "Christian hypocrisy in 2019". Are you mindlessly parroting the usual narrative that because Trump is such a flawed personal character, then the Christians are hypocritical by their failure to instead support radical leftist democrats who oppose everything they stand for? I've been atheist for over half a century, I stopped believing in gods and Santa and the tooth fairy around the same time. But there is nothing at all hypocritical about Christians supporting terribly flawed people who do the right thing otherwise. Their bibles (yes, it's plural) illustrate that as a common theme. The stories are littered with terribly flawed characters doing their god's work. Trump is a saint compared to the horrendous flaws of Abraham and King David and even Moses, for just a few examples.
Mister G he would in his hole! Trump is literally the complete opposite to him in every way! Hitchens hates Hannity and Trump IS Hannity. He would have hated a hypocrite and liar like Trump. Trump is a hate mongerer. He would have said the exact same about Trump that he says about Falwell. Christ you people are delusional

My favorite part of this is when Christopher Hitchens called one of Sean Hannity’s inane questions “rather unlettered.” And Hannity’s reaction seemed to be along the lines of, “Oh, am I not sophisticated for you?” But it came out merely as a soft, somewhat mocking, “Oh, okay…oh…” because he knew if he had asked if he weren’t sophisticated enough for him, Hitchens would just have smiled devastatingly and have replied, “Yes.” He knew he was outmatched. @J.D. Thompson Trump isn't even that religious and he is far more liberal than other republicans. Even liberals voted for him. You're making a false equivalence.
Bchrist85 and Jd are right, it’s even true that Trump is not religious. That is an anomaly that a lot people brought up. The evangelical conservatives have been called hypocrite and chastised because their overwhelming support of Trump when he embodies many things they supposedly distain. IMO left and right politics has become a pseudo religion itself and people turn a blind eye that the things they believe in have no continuity with each other. For exp: your stand on gun control should not Predict your stance on abortion. Millions of Americans have a blind like faith in their parties platform just like a religion. Either candidate in the 2016 general election could have literally have shot someone and easily 80% of their constituents would still have voted for them, if it didn’t get them more. It’s a scary proposition because this is stifling free thinking and a major contributing cause of the country being polarized and the parties hostility toward each other. And who do we have to think?? Mr. Farwell, nothing like getting good religious people to do what they are told.

@frankos rooni Hitchens was extremely intelligent, witty, and had a tremendous ability to debate. I must confess that I was often awed by the breadth and depth of his knowledge. I was not always in disagreement as to his interesting insights. However I believe he was as much the huckster ( in different garb) as was Fallwel or Billy Graham. He made a good dime denigrating and mocking religion just as Falwell and Graham made a good dime aggrandizing it all of them for personal gain. Consider (if you will...and if you will fairly evaluate) Hitchens wrote a book about Mother Teresa (after she died of course) denigrating her and assassinating her character. One would expect to have seen at least one singular footnote in that vicious and mean-spirited little book. And to be fair there ought to have been many footnotes, not just one. After all it was he himself who said that great claims require great evidence. He made great claims as to Mother Teresa in is little book but provided no solid evidence other than hearsay, scuttlebutt and innuendo. And to the extent he was assassinating the character of this Nobel Peace Prize winner his book was beneath Hitchens' own dignity. As a case in point he attacked Mother Teresa for taking money from Charles Keating who had been convicted in the Lincoln Saving and Loan debacle. The implication was that she received ill-gotten gains and never gave it back. However Hitchens failed to mention a very important fact, that is Mother Teresa received that money 10 years prior to his conviction. That is an extremely important omission. Lies are not only committed by commissions but omissions as well. There were other similar examples in that nasty little book. I love the truth regardless of the direction it cuts. At the end of the day Hitchens had more than a little of the demagogue in him.
Christopher Hitchens has no visible fucks to give.

I don't know what you think he amounted to, but whatever it was it was only in your mind and I wouldn't want to be compared to it! I wish Christopher Hitchens was still alive. We need him in this height of Christian hypocrisy in 2019.
Hitchens would have been with Trump.

He reads the Audible book for 'god is not great' although I wouldn't have it any other way, the volume changes in his voice make it a tough listen.
Lao Che absolutely
I'm so glad to hear someone call Falwell on how crooked he was! He literally turned my stomach!
Exactly. Very few people actually elicit a physical response from me and he was one of them. Very gross man.
Falwell, one of many of the religious grifters. You would think the 'believers' MUST have the Neanderthal gene...and brain.
"I know the good he has done" "Tell me about it. It takes a lot to make me cry" lmfao
I know!!!
If someone doesn't deserve respect while alive, they sure don't deserve it when they die
"....You're rather long, unlettered question." Hannity is so far out of his league, he makes trump look like a nobel laureate.

@@soulmachine56 ok woman, you knew what he meant.
Lol he was
He is such a disgrace to conservatives.
Don’t understand the comment
whenever hannity pisses me off, I come here for catharsis.
lol
Relatable
Too bad there are not that many people like Hitchens. Humanity needs more educators like him.
Hitchens' description is spot on. Falwell family doesn't pay taxes.
"If you gave Falwell an enema he could be buried in a matchbox."
Whoa.
That line cracked me up.
I don't get it 😂😂 can somone please explain to me if its not too much trouble, thank you.
@@matthewjames7268 Full of shit + enema= nothing else left ; thus, matchbox would suffice as a coffin.
everything hannity says is just so childish
What the fuck was he even saying from 4:51-4:54 lmao
"I know you think you're the smartest man in the room"
That's because he was the smartest man in that room.
In this case by a large margin
The smartest man in any room
8:54 "Dr. Falwell!" Hitchens just pissed all over Falwell's worthless carcass here. So great.
