How deep are the subsoiler shanks running? I am in west Tennessee were we have red clay dirt and no one is running strip till rippers. But I'd like to try it one year. I plant with a 4640 and was wondering if I could pull a same set up but 6 row 30 inch
This is the answer my brother gave me: 10-15 inches deep. It would be hard to pull in red clay soils in my opinion. The clay spots around here are hard to pull through and the ground bust out bad. But a 4640 would pull a 6 row 30 setup with no problems.
Way to go you two good Job!!!
Love me some 4960. Spent a lot of time in one. Great tractors dependable without all the emission crap on them.
Right on! We love ours too!
50 years ago I ran the disk ahead of the planter, just like that. I was on a JD 4020 diesel pulling the disk and my father was planting with a JD 720.
Good memories I bet!

Very nice plant system can you get a fouling system
I would recommend 30 PTO hp per shank and mfwd
