This entire thing reeks of a similar setup of an old episode of Garfield and Friends I remember. Which, FTR, is totally a compliment.
I loved Garfield and Friends. Also I believe it was during the Orson's Farm/U.S. Acres part, an episode called The Discount of Montecristo, where constant budget cuts were ruining Orson's storytelling. It was actually a rather meta episode.
