Fascinating and also sad. There’s more than one UA-camr now exploring ruins, such as these and it’s really bringing it back home that they were hundreds of thousands of people living here and they were almost nearly eradicated within a very short number of years never to be seen or heard from again. All that remains or these ruins and a few reservations to indicate that there were people and civilizations before white, Europeans arrived and changed everything.😢
Hi Steve, all the information that I have on this site is on the 3rd placard or approximately at 15 sec into the video. This is the generalized information put out to the public. BLM, Arizona Site Steward program, or Arizona Archaeological Society should have more detailed info. Bob
Some background on the people. Interestingly, this culture had the most extensive irrigations system in the pre-contact Western Hemisphere. None of these forts were near water. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hohokam
Seeing you on top of the hill punctuates the scale that is illustrated... a happy coincidence? Wonderful views.
I’m always there, but not obvious most of the time.
certainly has the strategic design of a strong defensive fortification
That it does
Until you run out of water….. Great video though.
Yep, I have thought the same thing.

Interesting point. They would have access to seasonal water if any, but no regular supply.
