UTX-70 is 70% the size of an Ultratech. UTX-85 is 85%. I have had one for about a year now and love it. Also have an Exocet and the UTX-70 is much smaller in comparison to real-estate in ones pocket. Great knife love the videos Jeff!
Im a waiter, keep one in my apron for opening boxes and bags at work. Looks just like a pen in my apron, sometimes customers get upset when I wont let them borrow my “pen”
Cali-legal automatics must be under 2 inches. They do make a cali-legal utx-70 with a sub 2 inch blade but the standard utx-70 is to large for California.

This little guy is awesome. I developed a love affair with knives of this size a number of years ago. Perfect for over 95% of day to day tasks, without alarming bystanders.
I feel like 90% of the time you don't need a full-sized handles for every day tasks. A lil blade would work just find doing basic tasks and it'll save pocket space overall
I carry one as my "task knife" for all my every day cutting tasks

Smallest Microtech is the Mini Halo, but those are like 7k even if you can find them. The blade on that is 2 inches exactly
I love it man! There’s one out there on blade HQ that’s a little smaller. I think its called the usb otf but I cant remember the brand. If I recall correctly, it runs for about $70 or so

2:34 the switch can be harder then normal when new what I did. Is a tiny tiny tiny bit of r.e.m oil on the slide makes it so much smother some times these knifes sit or even some time are not oil to 100% which happens it’s okay humans make mistakes and over time will loosen up to not kill your thumb some times I recommend the Utx-85 because some people find it easier to open because of its size. But it otfs are to hard I recommend some form. Of axis lock if it’s for quick one handed opening and closing
Incorrect. There is a utx 70 that is ca legal but it says ca right on it and it has the 1.9 inch blade because it has to be sub 2” in ca oh and it’s not a dagger
They are about 100times more rare than that utx 70

You probably know this but the 70 in UTX-70 stands for 70% of the size of the Ultratech. Also the Exocet is smaller.

I love microtech I own the ultratech the exocet and the combat troodon hellhound all are great knives I think the exocet is a bit smaller then the utx 70

no your wrong. in california any automatic knife to be legal. the blade must be less than 2 inches long.

Nice review. What's the actual cutting edge in the knife? Not quite sure whether to pull the trigger on this one or not because the price is even steeper for these in EU...so for now I ordered a Chinese clone to see whether I like it or not. I'd love to use this as a jogging knife since you don't feel it and I'm pretty sure the double edge would be effective if shit hits the fan, but I'm worried that the handle would be a little short for the knife to be safe under stressful circumstances...
To add: In some areas, sharpening the two edges changes them into a dagger that would require a ccl just like a gun. Check your local law before carry.

I think you can carry it in PA, the law got repealed in Jan 2023
California law requires autos and balisongs to be under 2 inches, so this one is not quite California legal.

I have a boker kwaiken otf and a akc xtreme with the aluminum handles and both are fine to satisfy my switchblade urges. Will say to anyone wondering about the boker otf my switch is very stiff compared to the akc

Bro not to nit pik but CA law is maximum 2in or less.. n California, the following are illegal: (1) It is illegal to possess any switchblade knife with a blade of 2″ or longer, that can be opened with a button or the flick of your wrist;

I own one and I am not impressed with it. I think $250 could be better spent. I am often tempted to sell it but just haven't done so yet. I also own 5 of the no-name (Firecracker?} which are a 1/4 inch shorter and much easier on your thumb and 1/10th the price.
