I was taking a tour at Harvard a couple of weeks ago and met you! Thank you for taking the time to stop and take a picture with me; it was the first time I met a UA-camr in real life so I was really excited! I appreciate your videos and good luck in everything you do. :)
*_Using your phone before going to bed is a problem too because of the blue light. It keeps your brain active and makes it difficult o fall asleep easily_*
Life Progress - Health, Wealth, & Happiness Channel But if you don't have trouble falling asleep, is it still bad? Even with night mode (so your screen is a little more red, so less blue light)? I know everyone is always saying that it's bad, and im not saying that i dont believe it, I just want to know more About it
@@nicolienlachzak well if you're still able to fall asleep easily and wake up feeling refreshed i don't see why you can't continue. And it's not so bad that'll it'll hurt you or anything it's just bad for people that struggle with sleeping
I saw the notification for this when I woke up this morning, but I resisted watching it until now (4:15 PM). Thanks, John. Your video motivated me to change without even having to watch it! I love your videos. I always feel so inspired after watching your content.
At the start of this past school year. I gave myself an hour before going on my phone when I would wake up. Definitely helped me feel more refreshed throughout the day
Use Bedtime and Do Not Disturb on your phone to not see notifications right after you turn off that alarm. Instead, your phone will say “Good Morning” and show the weather.
I'm already doing this. It's so powerful. As you said, those tiny amount of time we spend on our phone does a huge negative difference at the end of the day.
I love to jump-start my brain, immediately when I wake up, with predetermined relevant concepts I love: I go immediately to my phone/computer and present to my mind the most inspiring concepts I possibly can find! Your videos, John, are also on my list of really relevant concepts to choose from! All the best!
Omg I found your channel a year ago, then lost it, and now after weeks of searching i found it again, I’m so happy right now!! And you have half a million subscribers now, this is crazy!!!
Hey John, can you please make a video on how to get things done? I mean, how you start with a task, how you plan it, how you execute it. It would be really helpful :-)
I'm totally agree with this. I used to think that this habit was normal but at a certain moment I began to notice after scrolling social media I was more tired than when I didn't. It wasn't a good way to start my day. I decided to start it better, but now I'm at it again. Thank you for this video, I'll star again to improve my morning routine!
HI JOHN FISH, I FIND IT EXCITING WHEN I WATCH YOUR VIDEOS. ACTUALLY I AM PREPEARING TO TACKLE WITH IELTS TEST, AND LISTENING SKILL IS MY WEAKNESS, SO YOUR VIDEOS ARE NOT ONLY NECESSARY TIPS BUT ALSO SOURCES OF IMPROVING LISTENING SKILL FOR ME😀 HAVE A NICE DAY😉 FROM VIETNAM 😁
something I do, but need to do more of is disabling social media apps for most of the morning the night before. This means you can still use your phone as an alarm clock, but that when you go to turn the alarm off, there’s no app that can really satisfy that dopamine curiosity feeling.
Quite agree with your idea. The fist thing I do after waking up usually set up a basic tone of the whole day. I've tried not to use the phone. And I will try to grab a book and read for 10-15 minutes to see what it can gives me for a day. lol
You can also just put your phone on do not disturb to ignore the notification and still listen to music or a podcast or news with your phone as you go throughout your morning and you can still use it as an alarm.
I’ve been watching your videos recently. You’ve been a blessing. I wish I could thank you personally, but I hope your at least able to see my comment. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Wow what a coincidence. I just started reading Alchemist as well. I have just read a few pages and acc. to me it's one the most informative books out there.
I'm really going to try this out, for my mental health. It hasn't been so great this week and I feel like by starting my day with other things than my phone will be help so much
I turn off my mobile data before bed so I never actually wake up to notifications. Plus I wake up almost late to work so there’s hardly any time to waste anyway.
Thank you for sharing your idea :) I also want to try to avoid using my phone in the morning but I just scared I might miss some important things. So, it is really a dilemma :( No matter what, I truly agree with you that stopping going on phone right after waking up can have a quiet and calm day!
Hey John! Can you make a video about how to take class notes and reading notes more specifically? Like when there are slides posted by professor during class, how can you take notes.
The problem with me is with going to bed early without the urge of watching a UA-cam video oppose to using my phone in the morning(I may only take a glance for the time, but even so I have a watch for that). Interesting video thought. I did not know this was a common issue.
Have you considered buying a print newspaper subscription and reading that in the morning? That's what I'm gonna do next year. The NYT and WSJ still have pretty cheap subscription rates for student home delivery.
i keep my phone switched off for the night. I check it when i take breaks from my morning walk/exercise routine. Then i switch it off again. I switch it on only if i have to call someone(and yeah, no one calls me. i do not call anyone) . I switch it after dinner, around 2 hours before sleeping when i walk for an hour, talking with some pals. Life's quite managed.
Watchin this in bed. Right after I just woke up 🤦🏾♂️
SAUCESTIN!!!!!!!!
I feel man, it’s a bad habit
Same
Thats ok when you got the sauce
btw, austin, why dont you talk more in the facebook.group?
Idk why but you look like you could be a character from a pixar movie
koko ya yea I see it.
Similarly like that guy from ratatouille
OMG YES!!
Cherry Catalyst yessssss exactly
the kid from box trolls
I just tun my wifi off before i go to bed, so when i wake up I`m not smacked in the face with 99% of my notifications. It works for me.
Bruno Semedo Same here
Same.
Nice! I'll do that..thanks
Foti Kërkeshi thats kind of the point

pro tip: simply activate flight mode before going to bed. you can still use your phone as an alarm clock ;)
Actually, just turn off wifi on your phone in case there is an emergency and you can't receive any call
You would just turn it off though
I do that. + my phone is on my desk, so when it goes off I gotta get outta bed

This is an urban myth. It’s not the light, it’s stimulating the brain with content that makes you think.

The best thing is to switch off the wifi or the mobile date while sleeping and don't turn it on until you are ready for the day.

Use Bedtime and Do Not Disturb on your phone to not see notifications right after you turn off that alarm. Instead, your phone will say “Good Morning” and show the weather.
thanks for this advice, john.

You are right about the tone being set for the whole day, i discovered this practically.
John: *wakes up and sees 200 notifications*
Me: *wakes up with a dry asf phone*
something I do, but need to do more of is disabling social media apps for most of the morning the night before. This means you can still use your phone as an alarm clock, but that when you go to turn the alarm off, there’s no app that can really satisfy that dopamine curiosity feeling.

I use the old school leave-your-phone-out-of-your-room-and-use-a-classic-alarm-clock-method
Definitely going to try this from tomorrow on!
Hey John, you seem super happy even after the breakup. Can you do a video on breakups? Im struggling 😅

I just decided to stop doing this today and I got your video as recommendation lol
Yes, get that coin boi
*watches this video immensely after waking up*
* wakes up *
* clicks on john fish's video *
