This is actually a Ballad for them....

For a band who made their name with pure brutality, the melodic stream of this track is an awesome bit of counterpointed beauty. The guitar runs at the end are particularly spectacular.

Wait til you find out this track was inspired by an opera.

    Laugh, clown,
    at your broken love!
Laugh at the grief that poisons your heart!

The outro on this song is so well done. The harmonies are melodious, beautiful, and offer a tempering to the anguish felt in the first half of the song. Very well crafted...this band is amazing

Dave legit needs to be in a metal opera like right fucking now.
The Pagliaccio lyrics give me chills every time.

I never would have thought a brutally heavy band like Anaal Nathrakh could release a song that moved me but this song really proved me wrong!

Excellent theme! One of the best Anaal Nathrakh.
Anaal Natrhakh in my opinion is one of the few bands that can boast the echo of not having any bad album! All are excellent.

Unironically this is this s*** that makes me want to keep on living. Just to be able to hear this riff one more time.

Everytime I listen to this album, I can't help thinking it's been kind of the climax of AN discography, nevertheless completely misunderstood - if no ignored - as such.
These guys definitely built something through their records, and everytime I listen to this track, I feel it could (should ?) have been the perfect ending for their work, the song fading out while etching their art in our minds forever...

+Errætik Agreed, enjoyed the band for a long time but this album I went out and bought after I heard it the first time, its a masterpiece.
If you haven't heard it, Dir En Greys Dum Spiro Spero has a similar vibe to this album, the way you described it.

    • @dvrds
      @dvrds 8 років тому

+Errætik Well, it would kind of suck, since this chorus is not even theirs, its from Pavarotti's 'Il Pagliacci'. But I sort of get what you're saying, it gives some sort of nostalgic feel about their career.

The song is putting contrast between death and the afterlife with the Pagliacci, the sad clown's grief. People think the dead live in peace, but in reality they paint their face, they turn their tears into jest, they take the grief that poisons their heart and turn it into something joyous. Religion, tradition - things that are believed to keep the dead alive, all things they probably created, a terrible illusion to hide their immense suffering, mental and physical.

Dave is in contact with the devil and knows what awaits him.
      The song endarkenment reveals it.
      and some others, too.
      here some quotes:
"mephistoteles be thou my god, even if you only serve"
      "the demon is real"
      "mother of satan"
and what gave me, as a Christian, who believes that as a mortal, the presence of God is torture for a man, as the bible says as well, whoever comes in the presense of God must die, this is even deeper:
"By the end we'll beg..... for someone... to take away the light"
and then they know about the great day of judgement:
"take what small comfort there may be left,
seize what you love and tear down the rest
      panem circenses, credulous descent
      a garderene charge into endarkenment"
He is also a freemason or belongs to the international, globalist group who enslaves the world
in the song create Art, though the world may persish the lyrics are clear....
"Turn your eyes towards the sun (sun = lucifer)
      See the future beckon us
We can take the world as one (one world government)
      In our destiny, we trust
Let nothing stand in our way
      And let nothing us dismay
So now summon up your blood
We were born to rise above"
      "We do not require participation
      Let anomie breed alienation
Then in an orgasm of aesthetic spectacle
      Clamor for your own enslavement"
here is the fake apocalyptic catastrophe they are planning to give every human being a chip without noone can buy or sell, as revelation 13 of the bible says. "Let anomie breed alienation".... lgbtq... the youth is completely destroyed and doesn't know why they're here or what their purpose is...
Seek Jesus Christ for salvation of your soul, because the devil is very real... but God is the King of Kings and created the earth and the heavens.

    Act! While in delirium,
I no longer know what I say, or what I do!
And yet it's necessary... make an effort!
    Are you not a man?
Naked and alone, before the cadaver.
    Ridi, Pagliaccio,
    sul tuo amore infranto!
Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor!
Put on your costume, powder your face.
The people pay to be here, and they want to laugh.
And if Harlequin shall steal your Columbina,
laugh, Clown, so the crowd will cheer!
Pane of glass shattered, yet finally clear.
    Ridi, Pagliaccio,
    sul tuo amore infranto!
Ridi del duol, che t'avvelena il cor!
    [English translation of chorus:]
    Laugh, clown,
    at your broken love!
Laugh at the grief, that poisons your heart!
