I think mufflers will be in the near future, I would come up with a air actuated cutout so you can activate a loud switch for fun times and quiet for those long hauls.
I sure hate to see these videos of your come to an end. As soon as I see your posts, I bring em up. To see your vast intelligence of these buses and your unmatched ability, as well as your, passion, to fix em as well as drive em, just blows my mind. I have zero knowledge about bus operation and repair but I can't wait till your next episodes appear. Take care, be safe and I will watch, anxiously, for the next episode.
I can hear Lenny screaming here in Pennsylvania :-) Sounds good but I can see where it might become... bothersome after a few hundred miles. Thanks for the video Scott.
@@robertborchert932 agreed. At one point it was pretty common to hear the Detroits screaming down the highway. I miss it in a lot of ways. Drivers today are well...I can't say cuz it's not family friendly! The looks I get working my old Peterbilt...the new drivers just don't get it lol
Video Approved. Bus sounds great. Cheap solution.. Foam earplugs. After you wear them awhile and get used to them, everything will be great. You have the best sounding vintage bus on the interstate. "The Mayor".
The driving videos got infinitely more enjoyable with the new exhaust! That's coming from someone who already enjoyed them! Seems like all the changes are really working together you were flying!
We have a 671 Detroit Diesel 1952 4103 we are restoring....we haven't been able to take a trip in it for a long time....Watching you get your bus in top notch running condition is very emotional for me...I dream of being able to travel the country....Watching you and Kelly driving down the road to me is soooo relaxing.... Thanks Scott and Kelly for what you are doing...I know you have got to be exhausted...stay healthy....
Have to agree BIG time with Kelly!!! With all that damn noise, you should be afraid that you will miss your GPS "talking" to you.Hope that Kelly has some REAL good ear muffs. Beautiful video.
I agree with your wife. Need to quite it down. The noise will get old quick. Plus will make the audio sound better on your travel videos. Awesome road trip. Love the scenery
👍👍👍👍you should take Lenny out to a nice dinner the next time you go through his area, now that is a human that's kind to all humanity. One of my favorite video.
G’day Scott please leave the exhaust note sounds great through headphones. Regards John PS that’s a great place for Kelly to sit the filming is great thanks Kelly.
Scott, I am interested to see if that 1941 has what I think they call a low block 6-71- uses a conventional gas engine style sandwich head gasket. One of our " truckable" tugs at work has one. The guy who rebuilt it for us found original design liners in it with 5/16" drill hole air ports. He said those went out of production in 1943 dating the engine. It has a WWII Navy plate on it and the marine transmission was War production license built by Oliver Farm Equipment. I built the exhaust stack out of off the shelf Freightliner parts. Kelly would probably approve. The other tug is L-O-U-D.
You just drove by my place here in Lexington at the Blue Grass Airport! Great shot of a friend of mine landing his bi-plane! Hope you can stop in next time your coming thru! David
I see I'm in the minority, but I love the new sound of the bus. I'm surprised at how tight the steering wheel seems to be for vehicle with so many miles on it. Plus, you just have to love the three on the tree shifting.
When I consider how many buses, ones similar to Lennie, are still cruising down the highway’s, it makes me wonder if as many of the more recently built buses (20-30 year range) will be be repurposed, and used to travel the highways of North America. Thanks for sharing some excellent views of the Midwest. Peace-out!
Hey Scott love the videos, keep them coming for this long cold winter thats coming up.I don't know if you have time to read all the comments or not,but for my 2cents I would put on an exhaust cut out.Now days they are electric in my day they were manual. They are just a Y pipe, one end for your staight pipe the other with a muffler for in-town,subdivisions,etc.
Love the engine sound, but I am in the Kelly camp. It sounds great while shifting and getting up to speed. However for hours on end? = gyrating on nerves.
Just throwing a idea out to you. Kenworth use to use what we called grass burners exhaust. This was more common on their 95 and 96 T600's. The muffler would work perfect on your bus. Am sure you probably would be able to find them at a truck salvage.
you said it at the end but I was gonna mention that Lenny seems to be flying! must be embarrassing to the truckers to have their wheels run off of them by an "Ol Grey Dog!" 55555555555 Sorry Kelley but I like the was Lenny screams now! that's the way a Jimmy should sound!
Get her a nice pair of noise canceling headphones. That is what my wife uses in my bus. I have a straight piped (stack) Cummings ISM. Just as loud and with the jake, more. I think the stack makes it.
I think processing Lenny's exhaust note pushed my phone's battery life a bit, but that's what chargers are for, lol! But the day will come when Lenny will have to be quieter, because "Happy wife, happy life". But I think that if we had rock-solid "better halves" like Kelly, a sacrifice like that would be worth it. So those of us who enjoy a unrestricted 2-stroke should enjoy it while we can.
I'm with Kelly, I don't like the noise either. At first it sounds really cool, takes me back to my teenage years. But hour after hour, and mile after mile, I can see where it would get old fast.
Welcome back to the bluegrass and the tri state as we call it beautiful time of year around here .. Would love to come meet you guys and lend a hand. I'm off exit 193 on I 64 . .You guys need anything let's us know keep shiny side up and greasy side down.
i would install this muffler with clamps to get you by till you get your turbo but i would leave the existing glasspack in place and pipe it to the second muffler and discharge it the other side but not sure how Kelly will like that.
The 2nd grader in you is ecstatic as my inner 2nd grader is too. But the 44 year old me agrees with your wife too. Cabin noise gets old after awhile. Maybe add rock wool or something to quiet it.
Hello Bus Grease Monkey. I really do enjoy your videos regarding your expertise on the buses. I'm in the process in buying a 1983 Silver Eagle Model 10 Bus and I hopefully can ask you some questions if I run into any problems. I have already subscribed to your channel. This is my first bus that I'll be buying. Keep up the good work.
By the way ,I've never used a GPS. ,and I've been all over the United States four times ,and half way around the world ,except the Navy did the navigation around the world part . In fact I wouldn't know how to use one either. I'll be 70 years old come March 11th. Guess I'm old school .Too each his own . Safe travels Scott ,and Kelly.......
Maybe you could compromise and put a cut-out on the straight pipe just before the new muffler Kelly and I want you to install. When "we" are not "riding" shotgun with you, you could pull your magic lever and enjoy that deep-throated roar to your heart's content. Lenny sure is a sweet-running thing...
If you noticed the wear mark on the left drivers area panel, the Eagle might have came out of rental, its were the airmask hose drapped. Im sure you know its use!
We need to see more of Kelly. She does so much for you!
Old Lenny really barks when you bring the rev's up.
I think mufflers will be in the near future, I would come up with a air actuated cutout so you can activate a loud switch for fun times and quiet for those long hauls.

I work night shift and anticipate the next upload as well.
Ditto!
Nothing like the sound of a 2-stroke Detroit singing 40 feet behind you cruising down the highway. I miss that.
I can hear Lenny screaming here in Pennsylvania :-) Sounds good but I can see where it might become... bothersome after a few hundred miles. Thanks for the video Scott.
That muffler noise would absolutely drive me crazy - No pun intended.
Years of driving fire apparatus...it's normal music for me.

Prediction: Mufflers to be added soon. If mamma ain't happy, ain't no body happy. Scott is a smart man. Mufflers will be on order very soon . :)
Guy Cobham love loud pipes for a little while but when it’s your daily driver or when your shooting for an early morning departure 😆
A turbo does a good job of taking the rawness off the bark, there are allegedly other benefits as well but Scott wouldn't know about that ;-)
I was thinking the same thing too.. Stand your ground Scott! :)
G'day Kevin from Australia.
Lov the noise Lenny makes. ✌

Nice to have a recording of how loud it is. I’d play that at night as I’m drifting off to sleep.
Really nice Eagle conversion. The slide outs are a real achievement. Some folks are extremely talented and this bus really shows it.
I like that sweet symphony of sound. Js
The noise is great for about 20 min
The oil on the gears is a slingin, and the engine in the back is a buzzin .Rollin on . Love it...........Stay safe...........
I agree with your wife. Need to quite it down. The noise will get old quick. Plus will make the audio sound better on your travel videos. Awesome road trip. Love the scenery
I could listen to that engine all day!. Thanks for showing us the drive.
I've seen lots of slides on PREVOST's, but never on an Eagle. Pretty Unique.... 2 added slides = $$$$. Very Beautiful Coach.
Lenny sounds awesome.
What an awesome virtual trip in a vintage bus.
That noise would get old after awhile...
Beauty of a day for driving ! You passed me up on exit 22 I-65, Bowling Green Ky.
Really like the landscape views when you are driving between jobs bro.
You know you luv antagonizing Kelli with the Detroit Highway sound..... lol
Nice Eagle Bus - Mirrors on the ceiling and pink champagne on ice.
I love that grin Scott has when he is getting on the Interstate. Like a kid on Christmas morning. :-{)
👍👍👍👍you should take Lenny out to a nice dinner the next time you go through his area, now that is a human that's kind to all humanity. One of my favorite video.
I love to hear that Detroit engine sounding like a 2 stroke Detroit!

Traffic kinda sucked there by the airport. Racetrack event i think
Kelly's crazy....Lenny sounds frikin awesome...
All of your followers including me love that the passenger side wiper works now!
Hahaha your smile while driving the bus. Priceless. Nice work sir
You have to do something about the noise inside the Bus. I always loved the sound of those Detroits but that drone sound inside is really bad.
Noise I don't hear no stinking noise,I just hear some sweet Detroit's music!!!
That detriot is singing !! A orginal sound track . The droning on highway ruff .
I certainly hope none of that pipe insulation was asbestos.
That's what I thought as soon as I seen it in the video.
It looked like it was
Asbestos will not burn.

4 on the column
Looks like the bus has some "legs" with the new head. Great videos. Thank you.

That exhaust is WICKED!!! Keep up the great work!
I can't help but think of when you first did that exhaust how you said you laughed the whole ride home
Nice hot rod sound! Bit for the long haul, not so much.
Love the Commute vids,, such beautiful countryside...
OK....it was fun when you first changed it.....but holy cow that exhaust noise would drive me insane!
My first real motorcoach I drove was an Eagle,in fact it was Van Halen's old touring coach.🎸
Watching this vid again .Love that engine exhaust sound .I guess Kelly will have to deal with it,lol......
Lenny sure sounds good. Love the driving videos.
That little town you stopped at Walmart is Bardstown, pretty little town. I drive BG parkway everyday, was cool too see it in your video.
Lenny sounds awesome!
That bus is bigger than some apartments I've lived in.
I agree with Kelly, after so many miles I'd be pulling my hair out. 😫
Thanks for the video.
LOVE THE SOUND....AS DO YOU !!
I like the screaming jimmy noise but it needs 5th gear.
Just throwing a idea out to you. Kenworth use to use what we called grass burners exhaust. This was more common on their 95 and 96 T600's. The muffler would work perfect on your bus. Am sure you probably would be able to find them at a truck salvage.

Sorry Kelley but I like the was Lenny screams now! that's the way a Jimmy should sound!
Good job Lenny just quite him down for kelly and us but ❤️you’re work 👍
Sounds mighty healthy, but a little louder than I would like.
The drive north on 65 is nice this time of the year.
Get her a nice pair of noise canceling headphones. That is what my wife uses in my bus. I have a straight piped (stack) Cummings ISM. Just as loud and with the jake, more. I think the stack makes it.
Dayum Lenny sounds sweet! Mash on it driver mash on it ! lol

Detroit sounds good like your video I've always liked those old greyhounds
Nobody wants to go to the casino tonight thanks for the video
I'm with Kelly, I don't like the noise either. At first it sounds really cool, takes me back to my teenage years. But hour after hour, and mile after mile, I can see where it would get old fast.
I was waiting for you to start laughing at the sound as you pulled onto the freeway 😂
I always love the sound of a motor revving but If i was traveling long distances I think it would be troublesome after a while
Hope that Kelly has good headphones!
Welcome back to the bluegrass and the tri state as we call it beautiful time of year around here .. Would love to come meet you guys and lend a hand. I'm off exit 193 on I 64 . .You guys need anything let's us know keep shiny side up and greasy side down.
Is it possible to put a two speed axle in Lenny? After the turbo is added, it would have the power to run at lower revs? Great vidoes.
Scott, you just went through my part of the country I 65 mile marker 65
i would install this muffler with clamps to get you by till you get your turbo but i would leave the existing glasspack in place and pipe it to the second muffler and discharge it the other side but not sure how Kelly will like that.
Great job. Love your videos 👏👏👏
See you all stayed the night at the rest area on I-64 near Winchester, KY. Safe travels.
Dude, you have now joined the equal opportunity of offenders club!!
sound so cool
Sooooo fun! Bucket List!
I'm with Kelly on the noise, too much.
I’m with her too. I’ve said 10x we are going to change it after this trip. But it still makes me giddy hearing it.
_Well him and my uncle tore that engine down
; I still remember that rumblin' sound_
The 2nd grader in you is ecstatic as my inner 2nd grader is too. But the 44 year old me agrees with your wife too. Cabin noise gets old after awhile. Maybe add rock wool or something to quiet it.
Me too, to loud!!!
Yes Kelly, I totally agree with you! I wouldn't want to ride one mile with that disgusting noise!!!
gotta run a tunnel with those straights .....then do the muffler!
It wouldnt take to much to go through the burgh on there way home :)
Sounds like Lenny has found his voice. Would a gearbox with 2 more gears fit? That's my question!

Just watched an older video and I agree with your better half it’s too late loud for traveling a lot of miles.
extra gear, ring and pinion swap or 2 speed rear, dyna mat, hush mat or the Lowes stuff near the hvac parts
You find me one. V drive gm I’m frigging hauling ass at 2400rpm 74mph
Maybe you could compromise and put a cut-out on the straight pipe just before the new muffler Kelly and I want you to install. You could run a muffler and a 5 inch electric cut out. For those special times!
Do any truckers ever get on the CB to compliment the bus or ask questions?
Sounds great
That Bus NEEDS more gears!
Love the videos you do but you want to unlearn that little finger thing on the steering wheel, cos' you never know when a tyre can blow!
Lenny sounds like he wants to eat everything on the road! Keep that hammer down good buddy and keep that Detroit truckin'
I drove a Kenworth for Transam trucking years ago and rpm was 1320 at 62 mph
well it was a little loud at the start of your drive but I really enjoy the drive so I can tune out the rest
