The most important thing for the eggplant not to be bitter is to be able to harvest at the right time and to consume the eggplant plucked from its branch in a very short time.
Bitter fruit results from plant stress followed by slow growth induced by hot, dry air. In order not to stress the plant, first do not plant it in cold soil, do the right watering, make the right fertilization. If you can take precautions to protect yourself from the cold, try to do so. The differences between night and day stress the eggplant.
Watering is of great importance in eggplant. Insufficient watering or excessive moisture causes bitterness to accumulate in eggplant.
Eggplants love manure, so they should be given more fertilizer than other vegetables, but overdoing it can also cause bitterness, don't over-fertilize.
Irrigation should be done in such a way that the bottom remains moist, but there is no ponding. Otherwise, the development slows down, the crop decreases and the bitterness begins in the fruits.
Poor quality eggplant fruit is often associated with low humidity and high temperature conditions. Also, ripe eggplant fruit will take on a dull color and often take on a bronze appearance. Harvest eggplant fruits before they are fully ripe to maximize production, avoid rancidity, and allow other fruits to develop. If there is an old fruit on the eggplant fruit, it will not bloom new or even turn the blooming flowers into fruit. In addition to being fertilized, this shedding also happens because the eggplant knows that it cannot develop more fruit.
