and syllable measurement gawn was the 139th fastest rapper in 2023 and he had 13.74 sps on his verse on "UA-cam Cypher Vol2" which Crypt represents VERIFIED world record is 21.16 SPS rn and i can make 15.99 SPS too and i m only trying it for 2 years at least 3 hours practising everyday and i m not even talking english (it s the best language to go fast and chopping)

1080 words (from genius website), 1542 syllables. The fast part was 2 minutes 34 seconds (from 0:42 to 3:16) or 154 seconds. Therefore dividing the syllables by total seconds - 1542/154 = a constant 10 sps speed. Mac Lethal's was 9.75 sps.
Edited: I have been following the fast rap since 2011 and to clear the confusion, the fastest rapper is Crucified with a short 1 second speed burst of 22 syllables in 1 second. His verse typically lasts 20-40 seconds. But in few songs, he did a 1+ minute constant speed. Counting the speed like I did for Gawne, his speed is much faster.
Power Up - 887 syllables in 61 seconds constant, which is 14.54 sps.
Onion chopper - 1050 syllables in 64 seconds constant, which is 16.4 sps constant speed !!!
Very few can come close to this, like Rebel XD.

The thing that I find amazing about fast rappers and in particular someone up to this speed, is how you have to write massive amounts of lyrics compared to someone much slower.
In other words, you may write the equivalent of four songs in the same span that an average rapper writes one.

And all those extra lyrics have to be able to flow at top speed too
I think writing is much easier thing to do compared to how you have to control your breathing in a song like that.

he's not going as fast as twisted insane for example and isn't even chopping. when he would alterate more and bump up the SPS in the fast parts for just a bit, then i think the skill difference would become very obvious. this whole song is like 10-12SPS i guess. whereas the average twisted insane song ranges between 8-14SPS
The reason people respect Twista and Tech so much just is because the abbreviation on everything they say, trying to understand twisted insane is like trying to read in jail

I slowed down the playback speed to 0.75 and can confirm that every word was accounted for, youtube captions did quite well at keeping up with gawne at normal speed which goes to show that gawne pronounced his words fluently (There was several words that YT just abbreviated perhaps being rap slangs).
