@@alexandercarlsson m54 has more low end torque. S54 makes ≈30% more power while having to rev it out to 8700rpm, especially if combined with an smg (which i think has longer gearing ) it's harder to drift. M54 is used in 5 series,x5/6 it needs to have that low end in order for it to make sense. S54 just like S65 has lower low end torque cause it makes power from high rpms. That's why m54 has more low end torque in the same way N62 has more low end torque compared to S65.
