I have the “Classic Rock” version, I like walking around the house and being about to play without disturbing everyone in the house. It’s also great when you travel, you can jam in your hotel room if you want and no one else will hear you! Great video!!

I have the clean one and I love it. As a noiseless (headphone) and portable (play absolutely everywhere) practice device, they're great! I think I'll get one more, a different one

I own the classic rock and the blues, each distinct, each excellent. The circuits are superb, and as John says, in a good pair of headphones you feel like you're playing a stadium! My one quibble is the somewhat delicate build quality. My classic rock is a couple of years old, and I now have to wrap it in tape and fiddle with the jack to keep it from cutting out. If they offered a deluxe model in a more sturdy build, something made from stamped metal, I would pay more in a heart beat.

These also come in a “blues” and a “metal” flavor. I really enjoy the blues amplug. Sounds to me like a Fender blues deluxe or Fender twin.

I have an A/C version and also the full headphone based version (much better) but prefer to use my Rowland Micro Cube and the Ammoon wireless plugs which give an even greater range of sounds at a higher quality. Beware that played loud enough to sound good these can damage your hearing through headphones !

And dont forget the FX on the AC30 v2. I wish my guitar's input was on the front face instead of bottom edge. I wonder if i could get that mod? Probably less likely to bump the vox and easier to access its controls.

I still have my rockbox from the 80's. It is a big unwieldy thing LOL. By the way if you have an Ibanez SA260FM you won't be able to plug it in because the jack is buried in the body quite deep. I have a radio system which I had to buy a 6inch male to female lead so that I could use it on the Ibanez. What drum machine are you using by the way? It sounds good.

I bought an AC30 version a few years ago, with high hopes and it sounded awful, not a useable sound in the box (only my opinion) - seems like things have moved on a bit because they both sounded bloomin' marvellous here, I may have another crack at them - thanks for doing this John. Just the perfect thing when getting an amp out is just a little bit too much when all you want to do is noodle.

If you wanted to, yes. Anything sent through the PA system could be used - even a Fender Frontman 10 watt! The band I was in back in the late 90's was a bunch of loons like me. So, for several practices, the other guitarist and I used small practice amps. I think he had a Gorilla and I had a Crate. We direct lined them through the PA and they sounded great! LOL!

Had one of these ok. I upgraded to the box headphones that basically are headphones with a built in amp plug so you simply plug your headphones directly into the guitar the sound is quite good but the controls are too fiddly you have to remove the headphones to adjust parameters. I’ve since upgraded again to Boss Waza headphones (basically a Katana in Bluetooth headphones) a whole new ball game way better than any of these but the Boss is expensive.

I use the headphone output on my Vox Tonelab EX, which has far more settings and sounds a lot better with a more fuller sound, these sounded a bit meh to my ears, lacking in midrange and too much treble. For £35 they are better than nothing, but most practice amps have headphone sockets.

I've had an amplug AC30 for a while and I think it's great. I've come across a couple of mates who have initially been less impressed but after I suggested they try a different pair of headphones they changed their minds. In ears don't seem to do so well, over ears seem better. You don't need expensive ones, my Sonys which I've had about 10 years and cost under 20 quid do just great.
