  • Here is a clip of George talking about his role in Wham! while recording Make it Big in France. It is very interesting to see what George says about it. He makes sure to make it clear that he's happy with what his role is.

    One person you can thank that we got George Michael ... Andrew Ridgeley

      THIS. He stepped back to let George find his footing and strength. How many ambitious young men would have done the same? so many bands split up because the egos clashed. Andy is an incredible role model. Yes, you can be kind, loving, a good person, elevate others and still be successful.

      Why? Because he wanted to form a band for fun? It's so silly that many people think we never would have seen the astonishing talents of G. Michael otherwise. Where did you think his talent was going to go? It was always there - he would have just taken a different path - but, come on, he did everything: all the songwriting, singing, arranging, producing - Did you think he would become an accountant or something? Andrew never would have receded so completely if he hadn't known there would be no Wham! with all the work GM did to make it really happen and continue as it did selling 40 million records.

    This just goes to show how caring & honest George was, always. I suggest to anyone that holds George special to their hearts If you care to, Read the book George & me by Andrew Ridgley, It's really lovely to get a glimpse of their friendship & how It all started! Such an enjoyable read. I for one am very glad I have & may read It again. It brought a smile to my heart! I'm so glad the two of them had each other as very close friends almost like brothers in a way.🕯😇🎶+ 💖

    I think everything happened like it was predestined to be. Without Andrew and Wham, the highly talented George would have probably never come into the music business and get this huge chance to show his own unique talent to the whole world. And u respect a lot their special relationship they shared: loving and supportive without jealousness or rivalries. I would die to have such as precious special friend on my side

      @@heatherdaniel5465Indeed! Specially within the music industry where it's all about egos...even if people started from a same common ground they usually get transformed with success, sales or whatever...

      I don't personally think that is the case but who knows; George is very self aware and single minded when it comes to his talent for writing songs so while he may have taken a different road than Wham! to get his music done, I have no doubt he would have done it given what he has said countless times about it being who he is.

    Without Andrew there would be no George Michael! He brought him out of his 🐚 and formulated the 1st group. Otherwise it was Yorgos(the waiter) & Andy the footballer (soccer)

      @aleccopile Рік тому +10

      That's right. I think Andrew accepted early on that he would always be in George's shadow artistically, which is only natural, because when your partner is that musically talented, how can you ever compete? On the other hand, George needed Andrew to have a great support system. He often said that professionally he had the happiest time in Wham!. It was a win-win situation for both of them. You can argue that Andrew only made money because of George, and that's true to some extent, but I think the only person who could have complained about that was George.

    • @SmartRobot-wc2fb
      @SmartRobot-wc2fb Рік тому +1

      @@aleccopile Absolutely! And he didn't...I guess George also knew the importance of Andrew in his personal and professional growth and realized he was his best buddy and the brother he truly never had...

      This is a bizarre take on George; Just listen to GM's interviews - music is who he is, as he has said so many times. Maybe it would have happened differently than it did but really to say there would be no George Michael given he was only 24 when Wham! broke up and he already knew for one year before (as Andrew has also said) that Wham! would be ending - the music was everything to GM. It rather diminishes who George his by saying there would be no George Michael without Andrew.
