Nice to see Andrew, probably we would not have had George Michael, without Andrew, happy to see it worked out well for both of them. So, sorry we lost George Michael. Andrew, I thank you, for putting your arm up, when the teacher ask. His friendship you will just carry in your ❤️ heart Always.
How can you think that we wouldn't have had George if not for Andrew? George was writing songs from the age of 7 - He might have taken a different route but where on earth do you think that incredible talent was going to go? He wrote all the Wham! songs - except for a few at the start where Andrew contributed a bit - but nearly form the very beginning he wrote all the songs, arranged, produced, recorded all the vocals and many of the instruments and sang every single song. This myth is so annoying to me as it dismisses that Wham! would have vanished in a heartbeat without George assuming responsibility and control for everything except for the wardrobe and the Andrew playing air guitar on stage. And, he assumed all that responsibility with Andrew agreeing to it because he knew that without George, it would die out - And, they stayed friends, which is what really matters.
This is like a time capsule - People reading off actual home addresses of people to the audience, landlines, people needing to send in their answers to questions through the mail - it's so charming. All the interaction would now be done with current technology.
Yes, thank you for this video. It was I who won the giant banana and Superted goodies. I wasn’t watching at the time so only heard about second hand! Of course I also got all the prizes though 😊
Thank you SO much for this video. Never seen before this appearance, didn't even know they were invited just before the start of their first tour. So, logically, this was on Saturday 8 October 1983.
@@tomsenick2033p Yea sure but Mike Read, the presenter and the Wham boys, were just being jovial. Woke has killed it. You have good musical taste by the way. I'm not sure where you're from though.
What's the difference between doing that and just choosing a random address from the phone book? Most addresses would have children living at them at that time.
I liked AR too, but later I questioned why because George was so much nicer. Looking at this video though, AR really was better looking during this period. Whilst GM wasn't. I'm glad I wasn't blind as I thought I was.
George wanted to meet Diana Ross at 07:40. He did better than that in 1985, by singing live with Diana as well as Aretha and Stevie at the Apollo theatre.
And, singing for a few seconds with Diana Ross in the final song on that Apollo stage. Their responses are revealing of the two - Andrew wanted to meet the pretty girl, George - always and forever focused on music- wanted to meet one of the Supremes which was one of the records he said his mum gave him when he was a child - that and a Tom Jones record. He said a few times that he felt he ended up being something like both the Supremes and Jones.
But what's the difference between doing that and just choosing a random address from the phone book? Most addresses would have children living at them at that time.

@@ajs41 'Most addresses would have children in them at that time' is quite false statement failing to back up your point. Totally unnecessary to help such people to get what they want quicker with data such as full names, ages, addresses and interests. Obviously.
@@sshergs2166 Yes this is the show, but it is not in full, plus the video clips were cut and what is important here is the fact that they showed an alternative video for Wake me up before you go go with different footage and angles. Would be fantastic if you have it.
I notice Mike didn't answer the question "What does Dolce Viche" mean ! ( Probably because he didn't know ). but it actually translates as "This Sweet Life".
I didn’t think he was bombastic at all. I know bombastic side eye is a term but bombastic is not a compliment. I’m afraid because of the way Boy George was, he didn’t make many friends. He always had beef with someone and spent his time wrongly trying to out gay stars because he himself was comfortable with being gay. He’s never admitted to being wrong in his behaviour and still thinks it was right to pull people out of the closet, despite any issues that would cause them at the time or their wish to stay closeted. In the 80’s being gay still wasn’t necessarily accepted especially with the A.I.D.S crisis. I don’t know your age but if you remember these times you’ll understand, plus having a Greek father and a mother with gay family that killed themselves he had no wish to come out. Boy George didn’t care about that. Fans were split into ‘camps’ so those who were into Boy George were against Wham! He spread the crap and they sucked it up. His wars of words with people went way back to the Blitz club and still to some extent go on today. He’s blunt. Too blunt. Back then there was absolutely no filter in the man at all.
@@NailHeavenAshford bombastic side eye means to express contempt or disapproval which is exactly why I used the term because I'm well aware of boy George's continued attempts to try and out george micheal in the past.

How offensive. He wanted to meet here - and he did - because of the influence of the Supremes (Motown) on his music. His mum gave him one of the Supremes' records along with a Tom Jones one when he was a child and he listened to both obsessively; Motown influenced his music and George was all about music.
