I am from Northwest Ohio and for my entire life (I'm 70 years old) I have endeavored to learn about, so as to respect, those who lived here before me. This interest began when I was in the fourth grade (1964) and my teacher taught why the County in which I was living was named Seneca. When I was in Junior and Senior High School I would sequester myself in the dark basement corner of the local library where I would read first-person written accounts about the American encroachment of the area and the unfortunate removal of the First People from their home. They are one-sided accounts, but they contain important information, especially as one is able to read them by having been informed with research as shared in this video. So, thank you for this video. (As you know, Northwest Ohio is filled with names and references to those who once lived here, including in the names of Counties: Wyandot, Huron, Seneca, Erie, Ottawa, Miami [Maumee River].)

My family are from Wyandot Co. My Granddad was born in 1886 (d. 1978) near Nevada Ohio. He referred to the Wyandotte as 'Yu yon dute'.

I recently played the board game Wendake and was inspired to learn more about who the Wyandot people are. This was fascinating.

My family was Wandotte.we were adopted by the Cayugas of Six Nations. I come from the family who were on their way to Oklahoma. She was pregnant and hid in a ditch. She passed but I come from that baby who was adopted. We are the Hess-General family. Thankyou for being a knowledge holder of our tribe.

I remember a huron village that was found near stouffville' ontario. They were making a w-Mart in a farmers field for many years. Just north of Markham' Ontario. Anyway they made a small movie about it. They had many Huron persons from Quebec come down on a bus and blessed the site. It was called Mantel. It was the largest site maybe 6,000.00 that looked like Hochelaga, Quebec, with all the longhouses. I believe a few survived and fled to Quebec. I just heard the speaker say that after the huron were killed in the thousands at Mantel. It was a big secret no news leak about the wendat site till after the fact. The speaker just said the Haudeoshonee invaded Mantel and killed thousands.

Why do you soley claim native ancestry? From what I have seen it seems modern day Wyandotte have a lot of European features.

I live on the Sandusky river where it meets the Sandusky bay I have an old marker tree that was bent to show a path and so many artifacts all over this area I think the tribe should establish a presence in this area again to create a reservation on the Sandusky bay and river .There are still a lot of maps of the villages in the Fremont library story’s also at least try to get some artifacts back in the tribes hands since they had to leave so quick
