@@HomieHektor I've taken the A5 brake test and I am studying with DELMAR test book and failed it twice but I am not giving up I'm going to keep taking the test Until I Pass and go on to the next test I would like to take which is A/C. Is the book you're studying with better than the one I have?
What matters is that you actually know what you're doing, not just gain certification. I've known a lot of certified mechanics that were experts at stripping bolts.
There are some ase techs that aren't that great just like with any field. You will find some bad ones. But from actually being in the industry for many years and working for a dealership, you find more good to great ase techs than bad ones. There are great techs who aren't ase certified as well, but they are few and far in between. Most techs who take the time to get master certified or 6 or 7 certs are more likely to be the better technician. Sadly what I have seen a lot of over the last 5-10 years are the entry to low mid level techs who have so much potential but refuse to apply themselves due to lack of motivation and those are generally the ones that also say that "anyone can pass an ase so why bother".
Good for you man. Passing the tests gives you a sense of accomplishment. At least it did for me (way back in the 80's) Plus the patch on your arm says you applied yourself to a higher standard. Motorage does a good job, I've been enjoying the on line information. Great stuff!
I want to tell everyone it’s not as hard as you think, I had no prior automotive experience going into my program yet with just a week and a half of studying for an hour a day I was able to pass YOU CAN DO IT!
what program are you in? Trying to start a career in auto mechanic, but don’t qualify for financial aid because I moved to another state. Any recommendations?
@@carpentershustle2855 I’m currently a junior in high school and reside in Louisiana. My state has a program called the summer jumpstart program where I went to a 4 week class and got certified.
Hommi Hector, I just ran into your video and want to wish you the best of luck for your exam. That is something I wanted to do back in my days.. but it between truck driving, or technitian. Now I do some DIY and anjoy it. Wear you ASE patch proud, bro. Good Luck !!!
A car comes in with transmission slipping. Tech A says recommend tearing the trans apart to see what failed . tech B says replace transmission. Replace the whole damn thing . no one repairs automatics anymore. Ase A2 should be taken out
I'm about to start taking the s series next month. I "have" to get the brakes ase for the job. I want to get all 7 this year if I can. Dollar raise per ase and a promotion every 3 so i guess it's worth it
Homie Hektor: Any advice on how to get a job as a starting mechanic? I have experience working on automobiles at home; however, no formal shop experience other than back about fifteen years ago working in a pre-fabrication shop installing add-ons on a variety of trucks and vans. Any advice would be appreciated in this area. Also, I am studying for my ASE certification in A6.
I have 12 ASE certifications and both California Smog licenses. I made a video about the reasons it's important to get your ASE's and other licenses. Then this Hater that calls himself "How To Automotive" made a video against it.
Study the correct answer and the correct answer only. Black marker out all the incorrect answers When I studied for my FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification, Helicopters and Airplanes, there were 3 books with like 2,500 questions. So I blacked out all the wrong answers and then just studied the question and the correct and only answer. I am now doing auto AC and electrical. I may go onto test all of the others
I just failed my B2 refinishing by one question. I studied the I-CAR thinking it would be the same but was the worst mistake. Your video really helped me I think ima do the automotive ASE’s 1st because I can’t find anything for collision
Even know you pass the test you still have to have on the job experience before they give you your certification right I really don't know I'm all new to this trying to get my ASE certification I was doing mechanic work since I was a kid with my grandpa but I want to get back into it
3:08 paused & googled the price of ase books. 😳 is it worth it? I was able to survive as a BMW tech without ase certification, & am now a mobile auto repair man looking to open my own shop in the future. I’m not sure if I should... in my area you’re only required to have a business license, which I do have but I’d like to increase my pricing & the quality of my clients. 🤷🏾♂️👨🏾🔧🤷🏾♂️
Chad Freeman ASEs are only gonna help you, is it worth it? I would say so, obviously your work ethic will have to back it up. In my case I got my ASEs while working at Firestone, they paid for the testing, gave me a bonus for every test passed ($200 each) and I passed all 8 of them. If you pass the L1 you get a $500 bonus. That’s not even mentioning the raise 😎
Cool video brother keep up the good work and as always keep the videos coming A homie Hector where planning of having a west coast meet up all the UA-cam creators let me if your interested on coming to the meet up 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼✌️
I got the dvds years ago. It's supposed to come with a study guide and a practice test but they sent me 2 of the practice test and no study guide. They were kinda dicks about it so I got my money back. My boss gave me the books and they are much better.
Homie Hektor my tech school is making me take it. Do you have any tips for passing the test. I know quite a bit about cars but they said g1 is new and required...
Krissir the G1 is fairly easy depending on experience. I believe they have a study guide that you can download or print from the ASE website. It’s pretty much maintenance stuff like, hoses, belts, flushed, filters etc...

Needed this reminder. Thank you
Lots of great information in this video, thanks again Baby Joker 😆😎
Thank you Hector. Did not know about the Guarantee from Motor Age.
These tests aren’t as easy as most backyard mechanics think. Most questions it’s seems like all the answer choices could be the right answer. Haha
I’m studying for the T2-T8
Hi,
Can i take the test if i am from another contry ?
Is it online or in presence ?
Thanks you !

I failed ase T1 gasoline engines test, so I might have to take again but study in depth

in A6.
Just go to any dealership or one that you prefer and apply for a lube tech
Lmao.. im one of those techs that can fix a vehicle.. but cant pass the damn test😅
So in order to get the master technician certification you need to pass both A1 and A2?
Blue Trainer yeah you need A1-A8 to be a Certified Master Technician 👨🔧

Where can I get these and where can I take the test ?
I like to take the Test, does it require to show training record or if I self Study I can able to take the Test
Do the tests change? Like if I bought those books would it help for 2020-2022
Just need A8 to take l1, no A6 required... Just took it and I kind of skipped A6 probably shouldn't have but.... I passed anyway😅
I just failed my B2 refinishing by one question. I studied the I-CAR thinking it would be the same but was the worst mistake. Your video really helped me I think ima do the automotive ASE’s 1st because I can’t find anything for collision
I don't need to study, I can pass all these with my eyes closed. I do like the outro though ⚙️
Iam buying these books thank you
Which company do you work for? And is it any good?
David Shamoon I’m at Firestone right now, it’s a good company. I’ve grown with the company and I’ve made some
Good money 👍🏼 watch my newer videos
I went in without studying and missed one for transmissions that might be the easiest
Wich one would be the one for smog certified?
hey, thanks alot bro... how can i reach you?
Cool video thanks
AlexMJ8 Thanks Homie 🙏🏼
ASE stand for ask someone els lol
What is your opinion on Delmar
Delmar is ok 👍🏼
lol, Pomona. I used to live there.
what test u need to take to get your ASE or how meny of them A1-A9 how meany test
James Lewis you only have to pass one test to become ASE certified, if you pass A1-A8 you become a certified ASE Master Technician ⚙️
Even know you pass the test you still have to have on the job experience before they give you your certification right I really don't know I'm all new to this trying to get my ASE certification I was doing mechanic work since I was a kid with my grandpa but I want to get back into it

How many tests do i need to pass to get certified
Kobra455 all you need is one, but two years of “work experience”
The Homie Hektor do i need a high school diploma or ged
Kobra455 I don’t think so, they ask for education but I think it’s only for statistics 👊🏼
brooooooo i missed the automatic trans by one question too!!!!
Should to take A1-A9 before G1?
6mm Karma The G1 is the most basic of the ASEs I would start there and then get the A1-A9 then the L1 😎
Homie Hektor True i got my G1 first then brakes, AC,Electrical, rn Im working on suspension and also engine repair
i heard l1 is required as well to be certified as a master tech
Christian Claveria Not Necessary.
