I like to use the same aloe gel you used in the video straight up as a primer, and then use a similar mixture as a fixing spray. I use tea tree oil in mine.
You ladies are my go-to sources before I make most decisions on my beauty, hair care and skin care purchases. Keep up the good work. I know you both like NYX products. Can you please do a review on NYX Foundation Mixers vs. others? With Summer coming up, I don't want to have to purchase brand new foundation every time I am out in the sun.
I have used aloe vera for acne control for years under my makeup, and I have used almond oil before too. The properties of these things (even combined) just won't cut it for primers as in pore reducing ladies. She used an aloe vera gel that is full of chemicals too, so you might as well just buy the chemical primer imo.
Y'all always post awesome DIYs. I'll have to give this a try! it's looks like a good starter, then you can add ingredients like glycerin or whatever you need based on your skin type. & I think distilled water would be best to help your mix last longer (she may have used distilled but didn't say).
thanks alot fr the essy diy.. but plz tell me is it safe to use aleo vera gel on the face during the daytime? i have heard aleo vera contains chlorophyll which carries out photosynthesis during the daytime when exposed to the sunlight.. will it not harm the skin?
+Payton Lammers a drop of glycerin and a drop of Castor oil improve this mix greatly Store in Fridge. Also Hygiene matters. either put into a spray bottle and mist on, or decant small amounts and did into this. constant dipping into the main jar will get little bits of your face oil and skin into it. turns ugly real quickly.
+CAT G.Blondecat I agree I'm going to pour some in a little spray bottle and use it like the Smashbox primer water, instead of dipping it like that not very hygienic.
Thank you for this one. I already have aloe and of course water. Lol. So I will pick up some almond oil today. What do you think about adding a few drops of eye drops?
Has anyone with dry sensitive skin tried this? Or how is it for that? I have dry but I do get hormonal breakouts n also glycerin makes me get little bumps so I have a hard time using primers
+mbellmeister That is actually better. If you leave it in the jar, oils from your face will go in and you could get acne. For hygiene reasons, use a spray! Hope I helped!
+Beauty with Kat Oh also if you can't use the almond oil, for allergy reasons or whatever, try jojoba oil! It's great for all kinds of skin, even acne prone, and it is the closest a plant oil can be to our natural oils.
Omg you could do that??? I usually put aloe Vera gel on my skin at night before sleeping, because acne scars I didn't know you could put makeup on it How does that work for you ? Like do you wait fir the gel to dry then out foundation? Please let me know Please and thank youuu
I have oily acne prone skin and I do the same thing she does except I use rosewater amd tea tree oil. it works great and you can put it in a spray bottle to use as kind of a fixing spray too :)
I recenlty realized that I had dehydrated skin from over exfoliating, so that I had tiny microexfoliated patches that were very apparent no matter what foundation I used or what method I did. If that sounds like you then the best thing you can do is give your skin a break! What worked for me was extreme gentle removal of makeup with either micellar water or a skin friendly oil, then tone with rosewater and moisturize with shea butter, then in the morning only cleanse with water, then rosewater, then the shea again. Its the best thing I ever did and now my skin has normalized again. Sorry for the long reply but I was excited to share this as I struggled with flaky dehydrated skin for a long time.
internal allergies aren't always the same as topical allergies, but that's not always the case either. I would say def not a stupid question but depending on the severity of your allergy I would talk to a doc.
This DIY totally works I've been using this primer for 4 days and my skin is clear no breakouts at all, and my makeup stays on place all day long. Give this a try I'll love it
this is a water based formula, water is a breathing ground for bacteria, even when kept in the fridge you would have to make a new batch every day. do you use a preservative ??
maybe try something like jojoba oil instead! it mimics the molecular composition of sebum (your skin's oil that causes blockage and acne) therefore it doesn't cause your skin to overcompensate oil! it's also hydrating so it still has a lot of benefits! 😊
I love a DIY for sure BUT- I have to say that for sanitary purposes, you need to be using DISTILLED water (or boiled & cooled water). I would only make about 1/4 of this recipe because it will only keep 24-48hrs in the fridge. Please do your research before making ANY skincare products that contain water! It doesn't matter how long you boil it, water causes bacteria/mold growth so you MUST use some preservative to keep the product longer than a few days. There are many different preservatives & a handful are rated for Organic/all-natural skincare. Vitamin E is a great antioxidant but it is not a true preservative, Lavender oil reduces & mildly inhibits bacteria & mold growth but it also does NOT count. As an apprentice Skincare Formulary, I can tell you that there is a surprising amount of bacteria/mold present long before you can see or smell it enough to be aware of it. This can be very dangerous & make people sick or give you an adverse reaction - breakouts, dermatitis, or even a rash. No one wants to deal with all that on their face. Maybe try a combo of equal parts Aloe gel, vegetable glycerin & sweet almond oil, and play around with the ratio until it feels right to you. This is a lovely combination that won't require any preservative because there is no water. ' NOTE- use of any liquid (such as milk, rose water, or tea) requires a preservative in the formulation. Look for videos from Taralee - she's got her own skincare company & shares recipes/tutorials & lots of great information. She has an entire video explaining the use of preservatives in skincare! Not to burst anyone's bubble, but we don't know what we don't know.... There is truly quite a science behind skincare product formulation- it's all super important if you don't want to cause yourself major skin problems. For instance, pH balancing your formulation is not something to skip. If you intend to sell /give your products to others you will want to be responsible about this stuff or risk getting sued. Best of Luck!
Im so going to try this . I feel like this would be better as a primer spray .
Nacia Jackson I only use the aloe Vera gel and it works wonders
I like to use the same aloe gel you used in the video straight up as a primer, and then use a similar mixture as a fixing spray. I use tea tree oil in mine.
I love you so much UA-cam with not be complete without you. You guys are great role models and everyone should want to be like you!
+Alizeh Mehdi aww you're so sweet!
I love these DIYs but, I wish you guys would give us some more information on the products. Like expiration dates, and storage methods.
I would use a cotton pad because dipping the brush only builds up bacteria since you are touching your face.
How long does it last? Should it be kept in the fridge? Thank you
Thanks so much for sharing. I will definitely try this. Can’t wait
Wow..its so easy and affordable..really nice
+Madiha Ansari soooo easy to make
You could use a spray bottle like a primer spray!
You ladies are my go-to sources before I make most decisions on my beauty, hair care and skin care purchases. Keep up the good work. I know you both like NYX products. I wonder if you could just put it in a mist bottler I spray on your face instead

I use real aloe gel from the plant on it's own. Works like MAGIC!
Omg you could do that???
I usually put aloe Vera gel on my skin at night before sleeping, because acne scars

what could help with my dry patches, my foundation tends to make them appear worse
I recenlty realized that I had dehydrated skin from over exfoliating, so that I had tiny microexfoliated patches that were very apparent no matter what foundation I used or what method I did. +Ali DeHerrera thanks 😊
My mom is mildly allergic to peanuts and when she used sweet almond oil it made her break out/itch so be careful! Maybe try avocado oil instead?
+MiSSTECHSAS thanks 😊
You could also put the primer in a spray bottle, and spray it on.
+It's All About The Makeup you sure can

hi sup you don't want to ruin your young skin by wearing makeup at a young age but it's upto you to wear makeup
whats your skin type? x
Gonna mold like crazy
You are very beautiful with or without makeup but especially beautiful without. Not many women can pull that off but you can.
why not use a spray bottle?
Are these DIY's good or not ?? or they may affect our skin?? Mostly I see this channel uploading DIY video's but I'm not sure they may be wrong
Only way to really know is to try.
This DIY totally works I've been using this primer for 4 days and my skin is clear no breakouts at all, and my makeup stays on place all day long. Give this a try I'll love it
Now, watered down milk of mag might work. I used this for roll on deodorant.
instead of water u cud also use a toner
this is a water based formula, water is a breathing ground for bacteria, even when kept in the fridge you would have to make a new batch every day. do you use a preservative ??
my face is oily would the almond oil make it worse?😭

can make the natural makeup look
