I am 61 and never had success playing anything. you have changed that an now by the grace of God and you good tutorials I am playing the instrument of my place of birth, Hawaii.
I come here back to learn to play Ukulele again after I stopped practicing last 8 years ago. You're my first Ukulele tutor. I am so sorry to know you're already passed away. R.I.P you're amazing man.
Thank you from a Louisiana Girl (and this song was written by our governor) who settled in California and now is living in Sydney Australia. You have taught me so much!
I just got my first ukelele for my 50th birthday, and you are a fantastic help! The first song I've ever played on the uke was Amazing Grace with your tutorial. I picked up You Are My Sunshine pretty quickly, too. SO MUCH FUN!!! Thanks a million for posting these tutorials!
I think this should go on iTunes like I almost always fall asleep to this song cuz it makes me all tired but I love this song I used to sing it when I was 3 or 4 years old I just really love this song
I use your videos all the time. Of all the instructors on the internet your way of teaching is the best. It is sooo easy to follow your instructions. I have learned many songs from your tutoring. Please keep adding new tunes!!!
Thanks so much from the Californian born in Louisiana who is on location in Sydney Australia. Another new Uke player knew your work too and we might use your recordings to teach a Uke class. Thank you for this gift!
as an absolute beginner it is wonderful to learn a few simple chords and play along ( in a fashion) , even if my strumming leaves a lot to be desired as yet. cheers mike.
Love playing this. I now add in a quick C-F-C just before the part when you stop and then start strumming again for the next verse. For example when you finish the line "please don't take my sunshine away", at the end of "away" I strum down once with an F from C and then strum down for one stroke with a C before doing that stop.
Hey Mike - that was great. sitting here in our thatched cottage in Galway, Ireland listening to you play and my husband is learning from you. Isint that amazing. It is brilliant to see and hear you. Tiny, galway
I'm having SO much fun and getting much satisfaction from being able to play familiar songs on my new uke!! Hope you are well and still spreading the love😉
Strum Pattern: He mentions it in the beginning, but I didn't catch it at first. It's called the Swing Shuffle. DUDUDUDU - Counted 1 and 2 and 3 and Four. The and's are Ups and the numbers are Downs. I like to add a chuck at the end.
I love this version of this song. My Grandmother always sang it and I want it to be the first song I learn. I can't find the lyrics and chords written as you are playing them here. Would you please post them so we can print them out and follow along? Thanks!!
Thank you very Mike Lynch, You are my favourite ukulele teacher...You will always be remembered.
