- A step-by-step guide for making an air assist for your laser engraver/cutter using a regular air compressor. I made this air assist for my Xtool D1 Pro Laser Engraver. The total cost of this project is around $45 (excluding the air compressor).

Hello,i wonder what will be if use CO2 for air assist? Is it posible to reduce smoke on details?I think to try my CO2 tank from welding machine next week.
Wow, CO2 would prevent burning, also it'll cool the material faster. You might get a cleaner cut, but there is also a chance that the efficiency might drop. I'm curious to know how it goes. Please, please, please, shoot me an email at mail@mellowpine.com or post it here if you try it out. 😁
What pressure settings are you using on the regulator? Can you share what is working best for you so far?
For cutting jobs I use 30 psi most of the times.
The total cost of this project was around $45 (excluding the cost of the air compressor of course!). All parts needed are linked in the description.
this is a great solution and alternative to the over the counter air assist module. What PSI are you using for the Xtool?
I use a pressure between 10-25 psi based on material and thickness for cutting.
Thank you so much for the fast upload of that video! Very helpful! Could you give some examples with what kind of PSI you are working when cutting or engraving?
I don't advice using air assist while engraving in most cases. For cutting I usually use 20-35 psi. Run some tests and check what works best for you.
WHat PSI do you usually set your compressor to when you are cutting?
20 to 30 psi
Hi brother I need your suggestion brother please tell me can I use sculpfun extension frame for xtool laser machine because sculpfun comes with biggest extension frame
Unfortunately no, you cannot use Sculpfun extension for xTool laser machine because they both use beams that are structurally different, you will not be able to add the X-axis gantry of xTool to the the frame of Sculpfun.
Thank you so much! I’m just getting started and I needed an easy-to-understand video so my husband can build me an air assist. Very good video!
Glad it was helpful.
What kind of air compressor did you use
I use the compressor in my shop, a reciprocating one with a 50 L (13 Gallon) tank. I got it for my nail gun, and for spray painting.
What preassure do you use?
Between 10-40 psi for cutting, depends on material and thickness.
What is the AIR PRESSURE you set it to? Thank You.
I mostly use 20-30 psi
Does that mean 25 psi@@MellowpineLasers
No, I use a pressure between 20 and 30 psi based on thickness of material and difficulty to cut.
Make a video on engraving a grayscale image on black granite
Thanks for the suggestion, will give it a try
@@MellowpineLasersthanks, i will be waiting for the video.
Hey, I uploaded the video, did you see it?
@@MellowpineLasers Yes i had seen that and thank you very much for that important information because it will make me some money
