the theme from 'no doubt' by braxton cook. I have been learing to play the flute for a couple months, i come from piano, guitar and bass, i love jazz rnb and latin music (i'm from Chile) and i know the melody from that song because i first learned it in piano, then guitar and bass, so i can really hear the melody in my head and play it in any instrument. I always struggled with wind instruments, so when i a tried to play the melody on the flute i was able to, i was totally amazed. And even though i am onlye able to play it really really slow just being able to play and hear the melody in the flute feels like i could learn anything. And your channel has helped me a ton in being able to do it so massive thanks to you !!!

John Philip Sousa's -- Stars and Stripes Forever (specifically the piccolo solo!) Our college band had a joint concert with the Coast Guard Academy Band. Unfortunately I found out at our first rehearsal that they did NOT have a piccolo player! I already knew it but had never had to play it alone. The rehearsals up to the concert were bad because I couldn't hit the high B flats in one section of the piece. The night of the concert, I played it -- I think I was so terrified, that at the concert all the B flats came out and I didn't make one mistake! It was the last piece of the concert -- I remember walking off stage and breaking into big gulping sobs. My conductor and several people in the band asked "Why are you crying, you played it perfectly!" and I responded "I know, that's why I'm crying!"
    😭😆😆

Wow! Go Jodi! Playing a piccolo solo can be terrifying as it's so revealing! I totally understand what you must have felt before and also the relief afterwards! So glad to hear it worked out well in the end. Definitely for piccolo you just have to believe in yourself and really go for it otherwise those really top notes won't come out at all if you're not confident especially with your airstream. 😊

Thanks Jane for the kind words My husband (a trumpet player) told me that I must have been tight in every single muscle of my body. He thinks that was why every note popped out and that I was able to make it all the way through the solo. I'm telling you, I was absolutely terrified!! I've played many solos since then and I've been nervous before but I've never had a nervous breakdown like that since. That was the worst case of nerves ever!

Do you have any tips for beginner Piccolo players I recently got my first Piccolo

      Hi Michael,
That's awesome you've got your first Piccolo! Try and use a smaller embouchure on piccolo and remember to keep your airstream consistent to achieve a clear tone. Piccolo can be tricky due to the intonation so practising along with a backing track or with a tuner can be helpful when you're first starting out. 😀
