Good info. I need your opinion. I changed my timing belt on my 06 Lexus Rx330 V6 3.3L (timing marks on crank and cams were aligned b4 pulling belt) and after installing the new belt the car starts up and appears to run fine with no misses, but I get an eng light and my scanner shows P0016 cam/crank not aligned and a permanent fault code light. Could a timing belt be off 1 tooth and still run fine? Does this read like my timing belt is off or maybe the cam and crank sensors have gone bad? Is one of the best methods to set TDC to remove the #1 spark plug and stick a wood dowel inside the cyl and turn the crank until the dowel reaches its high point then set the cams to their marks?

I don't understand why they are not using keyways to prevent gears from turning!
