Thank you, thank you ❤️ I've been searching & searching for this song/dance for many years! Even though it is technically an honor for midwives it's also very soothing for me, now that I have cancer and my life is ending. We used to dance to this in the 90's at a local farm where there was circle dancing & drumming, and I have very nice memories of those days here in Easthampton Massachusetts. I have really looked for this under "Romanian midwives dance" but nothing ever came up. But my experience is that any song you look for regardless of how obscure or old or forgotten it may be, eventually it will turn up on UA-cam! Bless you for this wonderful video and the lovely women across the world for sharing with us here in the west their authentic genuine music & dancing.
I am so glad you have found this music you sought and wish you the very best. It is a lovely piece and is in the repertoire of many internatinal folk dance groups across the country. Here is an English translation of the lyrics. When my mother was rocking me She was singing of longing She was singing of longing and I cried I've been caught by longing Since my heart is longing I have not respite Neither at noon or at evening How many longings? All are deep and bad all are in my arms One dies being old Not knowing what's the good of longing But I know I"ve carried it Since my mother sang

When my mother was rocking me
She was singing of longing
She was singing of longing and I cried
I've been caught by longing
Since my heart is longing I have not respite
Neither at noon or at evening
How many longings? All are deep and bad all are in my arms
One dies being old
Not knowing what's the good of longing
But I know I"ve carried it
Since my mother sang
