Orijent
Open circle danced in V hand hold. Orijent dances are thought to be inspired by the train, the Orient Express, that passed through areas where the dances are done and are popular. Here is a link to sheet music drive.google.com/file/d/1pmVh8IyyvOw2xpEEfSVqx9GFX8T7eX1P/view?usp=sharing

Hora de la Soroca (Christmas)
Переглядів 932 години тому
There is evidence that the world's first cowboys came from Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria - not America, a study suggests. Perhaps this explains how one of America's most famous cowboys, Gene Autry, has a holiday tune that fits so nicely in the popular Romanian Hora de la Soroca! In this version the footwork and handholds are the same as in the better known dance.

Crăciun fericit, Buon Natale.
Awesome 👏 ❤❤❤
Diese Version leuchtet mir ein. Wunderbar!
Thank you. This version is more accepted in Europe, while the Drury choreography, to the same music, has been popularized in the United States.
Just beautiful! Thanks😊
❤ beautiful thank you so much. Learning. Appreciated
Thank you.
Really cute!
Thanks Heidi! We really enjoy putting together our Surprising Dances!
I was introduced to the song during a line dance in Benson, Arizona. Because we are full-time, Rv . they did the dance a little bit different but I love your version!

Thanks a lot for this demonstration 🙏
This dance was in the country in Bolivia
Nice dance, I learnt it many years ago. But where did you geht the eclipse-T-shirts from? They are about an annular eclipse this year. There was one two days ago, visible from Easter Island, Chile and Argentina. But you uploaded the video three weeks ago. Strange...
Thanks! The shirts are from the total eclipse last April 8th. We observed it in Texas on that day!
Nicely done. But, the music isn't "Ladino" as you've identified it. It's Sephardic Greek. Ladino is the language.
You are correct that the lyrics are Ladino. The dance is based on Greek steps (Zeibekikos) and the title is the name of the performing group and the song. The music is generally noted as Sephardic Greek.
❤thank you my friend, your videos help me with refreshing my dance skills. Even though I'm 69 now and energy fluctuates I hope sometime to teach small mini classes. My dear Father Solomon H😊rn taught International folk dance class at SJSU decades ago, rest his soul. If you had a minute to mention where you download your songs from, I am trying find how to have a playlist w/o wifi. No worries if you'd rather not. Blessings to you and yours ✌🏻✌🏿🐦🎐☮🎶🍰🎠👋🏿👋🏻🥰
Thank you for sharing this history. I'm a bit older than you and also have fond memories of my own dance past! I'll be glad to help you source music. Send me you email to folkdancewithhenry@gmail.com and we can discuss all the options.
❤
I learned this dance at overnight camp when I was 9 in 1992. It took me a decade to find the song but I never found the correct dance back when I was looking two years ago. Decided to look again and you've posted this in that time! Thank you!! We used to dance outside the dining hall before lunch or dinner, and there could be a dozen or a hundred kids all doing this dance. I loved it so much!!
Pata Pata is a catchy tune and the dance has been around for a long tume!
OOPS! time not tume!
camp Louise!!
Good dancing. I was born physically handicapped so I cant do it. But its fun to watch.
Macedonian dance
All notations for this dance indicate it is from Pirin. The original recording was brought to the United States by Yves Morea (in the late 1960s - early 1970s) who learned the dance from members of a folk ensemble from the town of Sandanski, Blagoevgrad District, Bulgaria. I understand this area was attributed to the Kingdom of Bulgaria in 1913. In any event it is a lively and interesting dance in a complex rhythm.
But the people who made the musik and the dance were macedonian people. Not Bulgarien.
I note your comment. While it is important to accurately attribute the music and dance steps, I believe appreciating and enjoying world folk dance is the key to building understanding and harmony.
Even tough i'm Serbian and Serbs don't like Albanians, i can't dislike this dance
One can only hope that music and dance might help us all get along!
amazing!
Thank you. We are particularly fond of this music.
Too fire, my favorite dance makes me feel Serbian asf
This is, indeed, a popular dance to countless tunes with many style variations.
Thank you very much for sharing this. My family always folk danced and dear Dad taught at university after he retired. I am working on refreshing my dance skills at 69. If I ever progress enough I hope to teach a little class locally. Peace and dancing, bright spirit to all! LH
Das habe ich schon gesucht, sehr schön, danke!🌠
Gern geschehen! You are welcome.
sehr schön, danke, da will man mittanzen
Thank you so much for sharing this. Refreshing dance skills helping health and spirit so much. Blessings and peace to all ❤
Thanks. The value and benefits of dance ARE significant!
I learned this dance almost 60 years ago and have done it ever since with the kick with the left foot to start the fourth measure ending the turn to the right so that the kick is in the new direction. With so many other dances being done to this music on the internet, it's fun to see one essentially the same as what I learned.
From the music, rhythm, dance directions, foot work etc - doesn’t have to anything to do with Croatian culture. Pathetic try of dance creator.
Croatian music? Yes, actually Croatian pop music by Jasmin Stavros. Croatian dance? Not all, a few grapevines and a few cherkessias...! Not the right part of the world! Very sad.
You are correct. Ira Weisburd selects nice music and choreographs steps to that; sometimes based on authentic footwork from the area of the music and sometimes to match his interpretation of steps that fit. Other Croatian tunes on this channel, like Raca Plava Po Dravi, Moja Diridika and Nabrala Je should seem more appropriate for the region. As folk dance is meant for the population in an area and not for performance or outside instruction, it is brought to us by visitors to the area or ethnomusicologists and, often, will not quite match what the locals may think is right. Our adapted dances are enjoyed here nonetheless and provide a taste, or sometimes more, of other cultures.
@@folkdancewithhenry5122: it is indeed much fun to move on different musics; but it is not appropriate to say that's a croatian dance when the music is from Croatia, a polish dance when the music is from Poland, a romanian dance when the music is from Romania, etc. and even more when the steps that «fit» seem to have the very same common origin..!!! 🕺
Is this an israelian dance from tradition or revisited by American Jewish of diaspora?
Choreographed by Dani Dassa in 1970. Here is more information about him. www.socalfolkdance.org/master_teachers/dassa_d.htm

Thank you. We dance to stay young!
wow well done, hope you get a chance to go to a serbian wedding and do the dance in the kolo....good times
Thank you!
Nicely staged!
Thank you. It's always nice to switch from community dancing to performance dancing!
Плескавак коло нолош брука игра нођта цаџ асељ флењреа сербиа 2:29
The first dance was a traditional dance in Serbia because of its it’s to channel all of that energy and body to relax
Croatian not serbian
Thanks for your comment. The original popular recording, Balkan 547, lists this as Serbo-Croatian. The various dance notation sources list this as Serbian and the lyrics are Serbian.
Love this...thank you!
So nice to see my friends dancing and playing music!
It is a lot of fun!
Bruno says hello.
Thanks for the memories......kitchen dancing!
Which recording is this?
A number of groups use this recording. Unfortunately I have not, yet, identified the original source. My digital copies do not contain all the information.
You two look great out there!
Thanks for the beautiful dancing! Such a beautiful song.
In horse training you have two major movements to teach the horse: rustem and buiestru. Rustem is the forward-backward movement while buiestru is side-walking movement. Does not have anything to do with russians, it's only a dance that mimics the training of a young horse (cârlan). So watch your attitude when dancing this dance. Just imagine that you are a proud young horse that doesn't want to make the movements but his legs are whipped so it moves according to the trainer. Attitude is everything ;) Great dancing btw!
👏👏👏
