At the start of the form, make sure you check the "Change in Existing Personal Particulars" box.
Then, select the "Spouse Name" option.
The term "Change in Personal Particulars" can be a bit unclear, and many UA-cam tutorials skip over important details, which can lead to unnecessary hassles.
The form could be improved by making the radio buttons more visible or adding a prompt like "Are you adding your spouse’s name for the first time?" to guide users through the process. These insights come from personal experience and can make a big difference, as opposed to general explanations or content that doesn’t address these specific issues.

I have filled in "Govt Application form for passport renewal for tatkal" and "completed payment"
Unfortunately, I didn't tick the checkbox for "adding spouse name" as "name change is in eligible for tatkal"
So my question now is, should I redo everything including the payment?
I didn't have spouse name in my current passport and added that information in the "Govt form".

I followed this process and received my new passport in a week! Thank you. Just a quick follow up question - Do I need to update my I-94 as it has my old passport number? Basically I’m applying for my STEM extension and they want the I-94 and the latest passport. So I’m a little confused.

No you can still use the visa on old passport. Just make sure to carry both passports with you.

@@shwethaks7994 no i didn’t get it took way longer because we don’t have tatkal option but one thing we can do, we have to call vfs and send mail to Indian embassy and ask them to process fast for some emergency reason they will send you passport as soon as possible. My passport will reach me on Monday
you should speak slower, you spoke as you are about to miss your flight. also make sure you upload more detail on the process of filling the application form
