I fought for 5yrs to keep those developers out of Oleta. I lived right across the street. I gave up and relocated to Palm Beach. DEZER DEVELOPMENT are the demons trying to destroy North Miami Beach.
Look at South Florida in Google maps satellite view. You'll notice there is no unprotected land left to develop on. That was the strategy, develop low density acreage-burning residential deserts. They eliminate supply while demand continues to forever increase. It's these kinds of corporate shenanigans that have recreated the old European land owning aristocracy, except this time it's the corporations, and they even have more rights than individuals.
No golf courses. No hotels. Nature is Natural. Not manmade. Purchase more state lands and designate them for disc golf and cabins. Just don't destroy our habitats for a buck😢
Karen Marcus a democrat worked hard in the 1970,s to save as much beach front land and Juno Beach she saved.Johnathon Dickeson park . Jonathonan Dickerson Park is a great place to see natural old Florida.
Yeah this is what Floridians get when most vote against their own best interests. Visitors don't go visit natural areas to play golf and pickleball. Florida has plenty of golf courses. They can put a few hundred pickle ball courts here and there in community and neighborhood parks all over the state. Maybe turn some of the abandoned retail strip malls around the state into new local parks and get rid of some of the concrete and asphalt.
Agreed. Many of us who got stung pretty early by the legislatures removal of home rule warned that it would only be a matter of time before the rest of the state would get screwed.
Agreed. Most state parks are free or low cost and available for everyone... Development will bring privatization and exclusivity which will be expensive and available to only rich people who want to enjoy instagram instead of nature
"I am opposed to FDEP's plan to make parks into golf courses" dude, they are adding a golf course to somewhere they clearly have land for. The way politicans phrase stuff is always so streched.
You mean adding MORE golf courses in a state where golf courses are being abandoned left and right - to PUBLIC land that by state and federal law is CONSERVATION land paid for by TAXPAYERS! Notice that this plan was developed at the state level with zero local input and now that word has gotten out the State is running from public comment outside of a link for comments that the state will probably ignore.

Another golf course is just what FL needs

Greed will kill...
You can play pickleball anywhere, and a golf course how boring is that.

Keep our State parks green! I go to Oleta all the time, the park doesn't need any of these things!

I left North Miami Beach where I was right across from Oleta. Now I'm next to JD Park. I pray they don't come up here!
Don't expect republicans to protect nature unless the rich or big corporations own it already. Needs of the average person be damned.

The trees are the only thing keeping the land of Fl from falling into the ocean.
