Salman Sahib, The Chipko Movement, initiated in the 1970s in India, was a non-violent environmental protest where villagers, particularly women, hugged trees to prevent them from being cut down. But one part of our jaahil population is fascinated by eucalyptus trees.
Love and best wishes from Dushman Desh 🙏🙏❤

Dear Dushman Deshi 💓I know of the chipko movement. But here we have nothing of the sort. And I have seen the accursed eucalyptus on the highway from Amritsar to Jalandhar. Terrible. As foolish as us.

Sincere and genuine talk lamenting erosion of ethics , aesthetics and empathy. Good sense seldom prevails in a culture of greed and venality.

I just discovered this channel and love the way Mr Salman Rashid frankly speaks. Absolutely agree that we seem to hate trees. I've seen neighbours chop off trees and call fallen leaves 'gand.' Astonishing! There seems to be a real dumbing down of our society, the urbanised lot. We have no connection with the land, nature and indigenous trees.

In India we are very sensitive towards cutting of trees. This awareness is increasing day by day. It's a good sign.

Is this the reason why Lahore is extremely hot and full of humidity? Pathetic

Indeed it is. And this is also the reason why so little rain now falls in this city.

I had gone out for about a week and I was worried all the time that my Tulsi plant may not dry out. Had kept a drip bottle so that the plant could get water. In Hinduism, it is said that planting trees opens up the door of heavens for the departed soul.
The aim of all human beings should be to have over 50% tree cover over our beautiful planet.

Mr. Rashid, I know at least one feature of Pipal tree. Why this tree is revered in India is that it gives of oxygen during night. As you must be knowing very few trees have such characteristics.

Kind of sad story about the tree you mentioned. There is no educational awareness on the part of the public about the environment. Pakistani politicians will spend millions on the VIP culture, and building huge palaces, the Military must have the most sophisticated weapons, but when it comes to education, sports, health, environment, nothing is being invested. The final product we have is a country where everything is broken and non functional. I have heard a common saying, which goes something like ‘Pakistan say Zinda Bhag’

Humans could be Hindu, Muslim, christian etc. but Trees dont have religion. They just creation of god . Trees cant be Hindu, Muslim or Christian etc. Trees are simple natural air purifier gifted to earth by god.

I know. On page 79 of Pradeep Krishen's book Trees of Delhi, you can see a picture of a tree with its trunk inside a mosque and the crown outside. In India even Muslims have more sense.
