For me 3d printing is like adding spice to a dish. They're great for upgrading existing models. Especially parts like purity seals where you barely get 1 per model. And especially for new models like intercessors which have barely any unique parts
Great listening to you talk about 3D printing from the perspective you have. Most of what I've seen is be derogatory towards GW and how 3d printing is a threat and its just nice and refreshing to hear you take.
I recently switched to Star Wars Legion, and honestly I enjoyed it way more than GW games. I think the turn mechanics, among a general love of Star Wars, makes it a much more enjoyable experience
Honestly hurt or unhurt, as long as you are printing legally distinct models, there is nothing stopping you from using printed models, and using then with GWs rule set as whatever army they are supposed to proxy for.
@@paulhopkins8391 kit bashing requires skill, imagination and practice. Why be creative and learn to sculpt or scratch when you can buy a 3d printer and download other people's skill and imagination?
@@rodericklenz5030 why be creative when you can buy a plastic kit and follow the manual? You can kitbash resin models. You just have to know what you're doing. And hey there's even less consequences to fucking up cause you can print out another
The thing I like about 3D printing isn't "sticking it to GW" or whatever, it's the creativity potential where people are making their own things, you can buy the STLs for fancy new things, you can customise them in the software if you're good with that... etc.
if gw went into 3d printing they'd have their own special printers, resin, and file types. "buy the gw manufactorum 3d printer and use our blood of the emperor resin to print all your favorite .gw models!"
So I recently picked up a 3D printer not to stick to GW but to be able to make the "kitbash" I want with out spending a fortune. I thought for sure I would be printing out a full army, but recently its been statues or ship models from older shows I love that never made collectibles,. Like Babylon 5 loved the show hardly toys , now i have all the ships.
Eventually (might take 10+ years, GW is always a bit slow when it comes to hobby trends) they will use a new label (like DigitalForgeworld for example) to sell specialist game STLs and maybe things like upgrade sprues/bits for certain chapters. And they will offer a very expensive printing service too. Mark my words.
They don't need to, and we don't need them to. Your FLGS doesn't disallow 3d printed terrain from 3rd parties, and GW already supply all of the terrain for their own events. Just buy an STL from a 3rd party, print it up, and bring it along to your FLGS, club or friends garage. The only places that wont let you do that are places you don't need to bring terrain to anyway.
I completely agree regarding trying to support other game systems in the miniature wargaming marketplace. I referred to it as a "buycott" and it's something that's done in other industries, to great effect. Supporting other systems increases the competition, and it means that Games Workshop will have to work harder to our money. And this would force them to adopt consumer friendly practices. Unfortunately right now we're trapped in a cyclical relationship, and we're on a certain upswing of bad behavior from GW. Still, the hobby is growing and I just hope that too many new players don't get burned!
Ok just have to say, the part of by telling people to just 3D print stuff doesn't help...not quite true. It is because other youtubers kept talking about it and showing the models off that I now have a 3D printer; and I will be able to make things that I'd otherwise never have been able to have before. As far as "shiny resin" goes, I think that's very much dependent on the type used, I'd say GW plastic is shiner than mine XD. I will agree on some points though. Don't get into 3D printing to stick it to GW... it's hurts them as much as a toddler punching you, they'll be fine; do 3d printing so you can expand your arsenal. As you said, it's another tool, same as when I got an airbrush. It does have its headaches..I failed a couple attempts due to missing a step in the instuctions and it was infuriating, but I figured it out. However, getting past the hardships in 3D printing is no harder than getting past the hardships in painting (edge highlighting, NMM, glazing, etc..). All in all say a 3D printer is a great tool and investment and people should help spread the word so others can see how far its come and what can be accomplished. However, I get that it's not for everyone, and that's fine as well.
I swear Jay here is just saying what needs to be said. There's too much hate and despise in a handful of warhammer ytubers and Jay is like the perfect example of bro, i just like the game lmao. Still these hot takes are only getting hotter :> thanks jay

With regard to your comments on 3D printing: there are still people out there who have no idea about it. There have been numerous occasions where I have shown off something I have printed, and have then had to explain what 3D printing is. In most cases, the people in question have been in their fifties, as I am. I have always wanted a Necron army, but have been unable to afford one (I live in Australia, where GW stuff is ridiculously expensive, and out of reach of low income earners, or pensioners). Recently, I discovered “One Page Rules”, and joined their Patreon. I now have access to the files I need to print an entire “Robot Legions” army, in resin, for the smaller figures, and PLA for things like Tyrants and Doom Tanks. I have had the machines for a couple of years, each, so they do not figure into my costs. I will be able to print my entire army for a very small fraction of the cost of an equivalent GW army…
I'd love to see more Legion on the channel. It's a great game and needs more love on YT. That's how you stick it to GW. PS: Your Rebels look great by the way! Can wait to see the Imperials.
I don't see why one can't just have both! 3d printing and store-bought models both have merit and cam be used in tandem. No issues, both GW and 3d printing have their niche!
I've still got my 2009 Space Hulk sealed and in the shopping bag and receipt I bought it with. All my friends went off to University so I had no one to play it with so its gathered dust ever since. A guy even offered me double the price when I bought it because it was the last one in store and he was a minute too late.
Nice, it's always cool to see collections, keep hold of it, it's condition is astounding. The story behind it is a little sad though. I'm sorry that happened to you. Luckily the virtual tabletop community would love to play with you.
If GW doesn't care why did they copyright strike some of my favorite 3D modelers on Patreon? They were actually playing by the rules, but GW abuses the fact that no one can oppose their legal team financially...
The problem is the tech platforms bend over for the large corporations. GW couldn't fight every single small player. But they can send infinity e-mails.
I would assume that they were stealing GW's intellectual property. Is it any different from some random UA-camr using a musicians song without there permission?
@@paulhopkins8391 Actually more than a few 3D sculptors have been caught in the crossfire just for being 'close' to GW but not actually copying GW miniatures (like providing their own spin on long since out of production miniatures).
Im not trying to stick it to GW or want to see it burn, but If Bill was my friend and wants a riptide, I'd print one for him for him to save him spending £65 on something that should be a marketed at £30.
I must say... it's a bit tricky for me. Wargaming is a very expensive hobby and the models are very expensive as well, but so are statues. Regular Funkos go for 15-20€ and that's somewhat mainstream. Wargaming is very niche and you're basically not only buying a model, you're paying for the development, the lore behind it, the ecosystem, the Games Workshop stores around the globe, maybe some brexit tax fees for shipping and tax... there is a lot that goes into it. I'm okay paying 100€ a month for a new box of models, some paint, new books, brushes, gadgets etc. but I get that not everyone can. I see the lure of 3D printer, but I don't like to bother with all of what comes with it. I'd rather safe some money buy going to a GW reseller who often have give a discount.
Last year GW ran £150m pre tax profit off £352m revenue. If they were to halve their prices like you suggest they would have made a loss of £25m, and if they kept that up they would go bankrupt very quickly. I agree GW are pricey but they aren't that overpriced!
@@ArghMuffinMan no they wouldn't. I'm not saying that they need to reduce their prices by half, some models the larger ones are way over priced for what you get, both in IRL and in game. I shudder to think how much money I've spent since 2nd Ed and I'll still buy their models, but when I feel the price is taking the piss I'll print a very good counts as instead.
@@ArghMuffinMan It was certainly overpriced for middle income like me. Combat Patrol and large single model already costs half of the minimum wage in my country shows that WH/40K is becoming more only for the rich. Just look at how much £ for a small infantry HQ plastic toy model and ain't no parents just gonna spend a plastic toy with a price like that for their kids. I'm just gonna go with Poorhammer by drawing then paint. Saved a lot of money and time simply to play the game as a hobby.
I’m glad I can buy some 3D printed models that are incredibly dated at GW, like the Bullgors (I know, not 40k) but most of my army is GW nonetheless. You’re spot on here, but I do think that the future is more uncertain than you think. I could imagine this actually become the next big thing at some point. But let’s be honest, if that happens GW will probably adapt.
Jay, I have a vitally important question for you. When you're planning what you're going to talk about, do you think about how you're going to say "HOWWWW" each week? Or is it a spur of the moment type thing once you start filming? Just let out what you're feeling in that moment?
I think we need to start a hashtag campaign to bring back Space Hulk, gw can't ignore that right 🤣 Anyways, great vid as always and I agree with what you say about 3d printing, while I'd love to get into that aspect myself, that's mainly to bring my ideas to life. I wouldn't stop buying gw/wyrd/etc stuff at all. Life's too short for all the negativity. Hate less, play more.
I was joking about the hashtag, but if gw put out Space Hulk again, I'd happily buy it. If I didn't have the money then I wouldn't. I wouldn't moan about it, I'd just move on and play something else. No need for negativity, life's to short for that. As for making my own, nah im good on that front. If I was going to do that effort for anything, I'd be making my own game. I mean that's the only reason I'd want a 3d printer for, to make my own designs.
I specifically bought a printer to make my own space hulk terminators and some more dreadnaughts for my ba army, wish me luck finding some awesome STLs!

The time and cost required to start 3D printing isnt huge, but it is an entirely new hobby to learn about. If you are printing for DND or other TTRPGS you are likely to get more out of it since finding the model you want from a company is hard and sometimes characters are out there as hell. Or I dont want to spend 50 bucks on a dragon. Theres no tournaments or bans on these things because competitive TTRPGs arent a big thing. For wargaming It is inconvienient to print entire armies especially if you want to play GW games, since its unlikely youll be allowed to play at tournaments. The best use for 3D printing in war gaming is terrain and getting super cheap blank bases. Maybe even storage solutions. The best warhammer models dont make use of the good sides of 3D Printing. Especially if you are talking 40k. Everything is big and round and fun and it feels like a waste of resin since there isnt the kind of detail that resin printers excel at. It can be great for bits, like little skulls or bottles, I love printing for silly base stuff, but whole models just arent worth it, unless you want old hammer. Also if your using FDM to build tanks or big mechs you are spending a lot of time printings, sanding, priming, sanding again all before you can finally paint. If you arenr interested in 3d printing as its own hobby its just nor worth it. As a TTRPG player and DM 3D printing is baller. I enjoy the process. Places like Loot Studios spoil DND and DND adjacent player with fantastic sculpts that I think are gorgeous and rivals what Wizkids and GW put out but each one is a resin statue and isnt the best for gaming nor for havinh a diverse army. Printing will never kill GW because buying is easier,
I bought a Elegoo Mars Pro just to stick it to GW. I print for everyone I play with saving them $1000. The more people I get to print their own miniatures the more GW will loose. I'm good with that.
I previously would not have taken orders for 3D prints. Last week I sold my first batch. So at this point, any "sticking it to the man" factor is just bonus, this is a monetized hobby now.

I think I agree with a lot of your points about 3D printing. I had an FDM printer for a while but running it was a hobby in of itself and I just couldn't get motivated by that. As for Space Hulk, I reckon that if/when GW release a new edition it will be tied in with them finally releasing Primaris Terminators. Terminators are just too iconic to be left to the slow death of the Firstborn, and a new edition of Space Hulk would be a great way to introduce new, taller, Terminator models.
There're a lot of things mixing here. I think 3d printing brings new competition and that's good for the whole mini market, and yes, it doesn't "hurt" GW but now they've to compete to a new challenge, and not just product wise but HR wise too, what if it's more convenient for their artists to be independent patreon artists? . Also, you mentioned that you don't want to deal with 3d printing "peculiarities" and go directly to paint... but that's already a very crafty work, I can imagine people who is already very craft willing to get even more crafty. I've seen some miniature painters going through a lot of work for customizing GW models good enought to support magnets, and therefore have some articulation, well parametrized printed models could deal with that just out of the box. People is upset because they have been paying for a premium brand that: - Doesn't pay well to their artists. - Has a shitty fan management. - The overpricing of several models is obviously obcene (comparable 3d printed models cost 10 times less without exagerations, something even 50 times less), they can have the most blessed plastic in the world, but they're doing something wrong if a 3d printed house model is that much of a cost save. - You have to assemble several models and for having a minimal articulation you need a gigantic work, while from 3d printers is all the other way around, you can just print an articulable assembled model. I bet people would be really happy to pay for a customizable 3d miniatures oriented software, in which you can select, for exmaple, a marine squad, and there you choose to make them articulable, the weapons they will use, and add or remove any piece they like/dislike, but if you don't want to do all that job, then getting a box of a space marine squad shouldn't cost a fortune neither. Aditionally, wouldn't be 3d printers an aditional source of people comming to this kind of hobby? I mean, I'd rather practice painting skills in cheap unnoficial models than in official ones. I think 3d printers can open a whole new world of content, hobbies and jobs. Stores for 3d printing files, software for minis customization, artists uploading their content and charging for it + getting money from streaming their job, 3d printer experts who can charge you a little sum for printing a complex model and do some extra job over it. Nowaday's GW won't survive if they don't change fast eough, and I'm talking from now to 5 years.
Very good points, I love my AoS minis but am glad I’m exploring different games. Really looking forward to the new edition of Beyond the Gates of Antares.
I agree with the fact that 3d printing is a hobby in itself that isn't for everyone, but I have to respectfully disagree with the idea that it isn't a threat to GW. While you make a very good point about how it can indirectly encourage people to buy GW products, the strides 3d printing has made even in the last few years (cheaper printers, better prints, tons of STLs, etc.) surely has popped up on GW's radar and partially explains them cracking down on their IP. As someone who has bounced back and forth between printing/buying models, yeah, there is some more work/initial investment in printing vs. buying kits - but not *that* much more. And the price difference is very stark the more you print. I think one of the main reasons why GW is still going strong is that there is a lot of folks who just prefer to buy and BUILD kits - it's also its own hobby and can bring joy that splicing 3d models on meshmixer can't provide. That being said, I think GW will lose *some* market share to the 3d printing market, even if the overall market continues to grow as people get into the hobby as a whole.
I consider myself someone whose biggest joy in the hobby comes from the modelling aspect. I like to build plastic kits, but its not like that does not take a lot of time, especially if they are a bit older and have lots and lots of mold lines. The time investment in setting up the printer etc until cleaning the final print by swirling it in alcohol is really not that big of a deal compared to removing the mold lines from a box of miniatures. And since you can print individual components like arms, legs, torsos and heads etc the modelling aspect is not lost at all. I actually think the fun of making individual models is multiplied by infinity because i can print whatever i need in whatever size i want for my kitbashes. But its not for everyone for sure, lets face it, you need (or rather should have) a dedicated room for your printer and not everyone has a house or apartment big enough to sacrifice an entire room for hobby stuff.
I don't have any skin in the game since I haven't been actively playing for almost two decades. But your take sounds reasonable and logical. Thank you for being a voice of reason.
Printing up 9 glorious ridge runners for my gsc. I don't know if I would even try running them otherwise because of cost. Whole kits I'm iffy on printing despite this, hut bits and parts are a godsend. Making your dudes even more "your dudes" is the essence of the hobby aspect of this game
God I'm so old, just came back to 40k, but... wow, my Space Hulk box looked more like a 60s pulp sci-fi novel cover. Still frelling awesome. It lead me to buy the old pewter armies back in the 90s (I had zip-lock bags full of them waiting to be painted! Mostly Eldar). What memories learning that game, and then getting that weird main rules tome (I'm guessing 2nd edition) with all the ink and crosshatched artwork. Loved it. Still do!
3D printing is definitely the next big thing. Wargaming may be niche, but 3D printing has applications across a vast variety of hobbies and industries. Regardless of what wargamers do, 3D printers are going to keep getting more powerful, easier to use, and more widespread. The quality they put out is constantly going up. And you don't even NEED to own one or be into doing it yourself. There are more and more small businesses out there that will sell you printed miniatures. You can buy them and paint them as easily as their store-bought equivalent. And the odds are going up that you have a friend or acquaintance with a printer who will fire off some prints for you. And GW doesn't care? Sure, that's why they're hiring "Infringement Assistants" whose entire job is aggressively combing websites in order to get alternatives to their official stuff taken down. They don't seem to share your belief that squads of 3D printed marines are good for their business.
I have a 3D printing business, I have 14 printers (10 resin 4 FDM) And I agree with everything in this video (but then I seem to agree with everything the eternally chill Jay says) There's a big part of the hobby that isn't interested in 3D printing they want to pay me to do it for them, And if I wasn't printing I would still be selling retail sets so it hasn't taken away from anything 🙂 Also CobraMode models are amazing and I am the sole UK merchant for their products 😁
I bought a 3D printer for extra customization ... you know, the thing this hobby encourages. Small bits for kitbashing , some premade bases or why not some cool model that I think might make a fun paint project. I'm struggling to understand how come sculpting with greenstuff is ok but doing a similar thing only in a digital program is stigmatized.
IoT 3D printers printing single use DRM protected STL files from a proprietary platform. Make it part of WH+. GW should partner up with Elegoo/Anycubic or whoever and produce a GW 3D printer.
They re-released this Space Hulk around 2018 or 2019. They had sold out and it was pulled from their website some time around 2017, I think, and I regretted missing out on it, but they did eventually put it on their website again and I scooped it up right away. It's gone again, of course, but they did release it more recently than 2014.
Somewhat unrelated but I just gotten back into the hobby and I have been told my old 2004 XV88's arnt legal for play as they give me an advantage? I put them on a larger base but was still told no. I was told it is store policy that they do not allow discontinued models in store as it does not encourage sales.
I was shocked to discover the other day that no one was selling Space Hulk. I completely agree with you about it. Should always be on the shelf. Even if you aren't playing the game as Space Hulk you can use the terrain to play a scary close quarters 40k game or something else Sci-Fi like Stargrave.
I've moved onto mini agnostic games. Being able to play with what minis you want with a good rule set is more empowering to players then mini specific wargames.
I just love printing for the out of date game systems. Warmaster, epic and man o war have been some fun games to play and I love that I can just print everything and not have to track down old models on ebay. Purchased some warmaster highelves on ebay and the casts were so rough, spears missing or broken and these were "new" in the blister. 3d printed warmaster is great, the detail is insane for the scale.
Maybe GW should have thought about those poor rank and file employees before charging 50 bucks for a single mini that is the same size a model in a five man squad that also costs 50 bucks.
GW in Australia and New Zealand has been driving mannnyy of their hobbyists to 3d printing. You see how much they charge us? They make the 3d printing endeavour very cost effective and recoup the investment costs almost on the 1st print in a few cases. It's mental.
I mean, it would be nice to have some STLs for GW games like Space Hulk (the 2014 edition) which I paid $250 this summer and those minis are all OOP. What would be cool is if instead of Warhammer +, GW put out an stl subscription service for oop models. They could digitize Squats, Tomb Kings, Brettonians and the old Witch hunter models and some of the old Battlemaster minis (which some people have already done on their own time). Then, they could have a My mini factory like page for the individual releases after every term. It could also let people be a bit more customizable in their armies with how they approach the hobby too (not as much pressure when tackling a more intricate model and what not).
I started off 3D printing with a 'stick it to GW' mentality (and because I'm cheap and don't want to shell out the $), but then when i really got into it i found that i just really enjoyed 3d printing as a hobby in itself.. printing 40k mini's has just become a bit of a sideline, and i print more for the enjoyment of it so i have more things to paint!
3d printing really is its own hobby. I've been in a runaway print spree with hardly anything painted lol. 2 epic armies, 2 Warminster armies, 3 battletech companies, historic Roman legion historic boudicca celts... can't stop, and printing for sure is its own thing. The effort and knowledge it takes to make a perfect print is often not worth it bit I can't stop
I managed to get a copy of Space Hulk for $20 cause someone didn't know what they had and they had it buried in their listing pictures. Probably my best find so far.
I honestly think the main problem with 3D printing right now is all the maintenance and cleaning required. We already have to clean and maintain a ton of other stuff for our hobby (brushes, airbrushes, glue etc.) Once we get a 3D printer that is 1.great print quality with no print lines, 2. is as easy to operate as a smart phone and finally 3. self cleaning. That is when you will see a huge shift. By that time I am sure GW will probably have STC sales (probably based around a NFT style blockchain security so that the STC can only be printed a limited amount of times.)
I 3D print and in no way think I can take down GW by doing so. But it still let's me not buy more things from them. I can only control what I do anyway, who cares if it encourages others to buy from GW in some way.
Have you seen the squamous miniatures new Lasats that proxy for the new wookiees? There's even cards that proxy perfectly. They are so cool. You should do a video on proxy legion units.

The thing I like about 3D printing isn't "sticking it to GW" or whatever, it's the creativity potential where people are making their own things, you can buy the STLs for fancy new things, you can customise them in the software if you're good with that... etc.
I love how this came up next to a suggestion for Commisar Gamza's 14th clickbait video this week about how "3D PRINTING IS CRUSHING GAMES WORKSHOP!!1"
if gw went into 3d printing they'd have their own special printers, resin, and file types. "buy the gw manufactorum 3d printer and use our blood of the emperor resin to print all your favorite .gw models!"
dont give them ideas
So they'd just be a normal inkjet manufacturer?
If you're getting mould lines on your 3d prints, something is seriously wrong with your printer.
🤣🤣
Thank you so much for the mention! There's nothing better for an artist to hear 🥰
anytime cobra! You are awesome.
I agree that GW shouldn’t sell stls
…for minis. They should sell stls for terrain however.
I feel like they should sell stl's for minis that they don't plan on making new versions of
They don't need to, and we don't need them to.
@@brotherhoodofsteel4751 - agree. Especially some FW models that seem to be out of production, but are still in the codexes and being actively played.
Games workshop will be sending you a new indomitus box shortly. Thank you for your cooperation. GW
However, I get that it's not for everyone, and that's fine as well.
true, i have also a 3d printer that is coming
Fuck nmm tho lol

True grit on display here in this episode. Bravo, Jay!
I love the stuff you say. Saying intelligent things on youtube about hobby and 3D printing this is nice.
The 2014 edition has more missions
Nice, it's always cool to see collections, keep hold of it, it's condition is astounding.
The story behind it is a little sad though. I'm sorry that happened to you. Luckily the virtual tabletop community would love to play with you.
Every guy I know with a printer, needs to watch this video and REALLY listen to it!!
3d printing doesn’t hurt GW… but it should
I print because it’s cheaper and helps me stretch my hobby budget. GW gets my money for audiobooks, paints and a few models I really love.
@@USALibertarian not to mention GW has a whole legal team and basically 0% of STL artists have lawyers on retainer.
The fact GW have people who can do this for them is exactly why GW at large can afford to not care too much.
I also wish Bill was my friend.
I'm learning 40k and I keep losing because I forget all my extra rules too.
The virgin pirate space marines VS the chad 100% homebrew games & lore
Jay, I have a vitally important question for you. When you're planning what you're going to talk about, do you think about how you're going to say "HOWWWW" each week? Or is it a spur of the moment type thing once you start filming? Just let out what you're feeling in that moment?
the "how" each week is always off the top of my head
Yeah well now you get to paint the newly announced Shadow Collective faction for Legion. Especially if you plan on getting every army like me lol
I think we need to start a hashtag campaign to bring back Space Hulk, gw can't ignore that right 🤣
Anyways, great vid as always and I agree with what you say about 3d printing, while I'd love to get into that aspect myself, that's mainly to bring my ideas to life.
I'm totaly with you. I am tierd of all talk about 3d printing. I do this hoby to build, paint, collect and play. Im not here to scream at GW. The only thing i can scream at them is to update forgeworld xD. And if you do not like the paints... buy other pains. Like duncans new collection :). Btw i love your content
There was a leak suggesting Space Hulk is going to have a rerelease this winter. Hard to say how credible the source was though.
There isn't a table on earth that can contain Space Hulk XD
I got a 3D printer for 2 reasons....
#1 I am working in merchant licenses so that I can support my family and feed my kids and cats.
#2 I hate having extra bits and having nothing to do with them.
So, this video proves, 3D printing won't hurt anymore because we are still having fun. Great vid, Jay

I just printed and painted a unicorn for my niece's birthday. It is awesome 👌
Printing will never kill GW because buying is easier,
oof clearing up spelling errors gets rid of creator lijes lol.
Oh yeah, you’re really sticking it to them…*eye roll*
@@rikowal there is no ethical consumption under captialism, if someone wants to not personally contribute to a company they don't believe in then don't scoff at them, I think GW really fucked up but I love the lore and will continue to work on warhammer stuff, if someone is able to 3D print just let them be

Them: Just buy a 3d printer!
Me: eh no! I dont want to learn a new skill, spend time browsing and supporting models. I don't want to spend so much on printer that will be out of date in 6 months, deal with smelly resins and goops.
I just want to buy the thing I want, paint it and move on.
Just because you boycott GW doesn't mean myself or others have to. I simply buy what I want and skip what I don't. I'm too old and mature to be dealing with such silly things. I have better things to do like live my life and paint.
Love the content Jay and Nick take my like (or dislike if you prefer)
@SoyBoy I mean if taking care of my family and my health from toxic fumes and chemicals is not big brain then I am unsure what is. I don't dislike 3d printing or nor am I pro GW, I am a simple realist. I do what suits me and that is not 3d printing.
There are also other avenues to purchasing GW minis. I also don't get the hate or combative nature towards those who don't 3d print or boycott GW. GW do shitty things but also great things.
Just do you and don't allow others choices to effect you.
I don't think mindlessly consooming is mature at all.
If anything, the boycott is the mature thing to do.
@@pinoarias8601 Who said about buying in mass? And if someone does that is there prerogative. As long as you don't spend past your means then that is ok, you cannot judge how someone spends their money.
Some spend it on holidays, some on jewelry or clothes and others on hobbies. As long as they stay within their means and actually paint and use it then there is no problem.
Totally agree and also think that hobby diversification is not bad thing (even if that's getting into 3D printing to print non GW models).

Terminators are just too iconic to be left to the slow death of the Firstborn, and a new edition of Space Hulk would be a great way to introduce new, taller, Terminator models.
if primaris terminators are what it takes to bring back space hulk so be it!!!
I’m having a grand ol’ time trashbashing orkz for friendly games good for my wallet and good for the planet
People is upset because they have been paying for a premium brand that:
- Doesn't pay well to their artists.
Good analysis! “You aren’t sticking it to GW unless you play another game!”
I don't have any skin in the game since I haven't been actively playing for almost two decades. But your take sounds reasonable and logical. Thank you for being a voice of reason.
Even Jay was shocked by his "HOWWWW?!?"
Lets combine the two ideas here. If many people start playing other games like Space Hulk, GW will bring it back quickly.
I haven't seen any ridge runner STL's out there but I have seen plenty of Achilles Ridgerunner!
I have a 3D printing business, I have 14 printers (10 resin 4 FDM)
And I agree with everything in this video (but then I seem to agree with everything the eternally chill Jay says)
There's a big part of the hobby that isn't interested in 3D printing they want to pay me to do it for them,
And if I wasn't printing I would still be selling retail sets so it hasn't taken away from anything 🙂
Also CobraMode models are amazing and I am the sole UK merchant for their products 😁
I bought a 3D printer for extra customization ... you know, the thing this hobby encourages.

Who is being hurt by 3d printing? Your local game store.

Honestly, the only thing you come close to hurting are the rank and file GW employees who have a tiny chance of losing their jobs.
I loved this video! Great work.
Really well said, that patreon segue was pretty funny too!
I managed to get a copy of Space Hulk for $20 cause someone didn't know what they had and they had it buried in their listing pictures. Probably my best find so far.
that's an awesome deal!
Thank you!
You should do a video on proxy legion units.
that could be a hole series, there are TONS of DIY and custom Legion stuff
@@EonsOfBattle very true. I just wanted to hear your opinions about proxies in gaming . Would you like to paint and review the squamous miniatures Lasats? I'll print them and send them to you.
Would like a discussion between you and Gamza about this, would be epic
My friends didn't know what 3d printing was haha!
I play 40k video games, and read 40k lore, but I can't afford figures. They were just too expensive. So I 3d printed some models and bought others to make a full army so I could play, otherwise I couldn't. But it's a bummer I can't play at my local GW store, where I bought half my army and bought my brushes and paints, using printed proxies.
