  • In this video I show you how I do the "peacock" glazing technique made popular by Mayco Colors.
Using Mayco Stroke & Coat, Light Flux and Cenote glazes, we will glaze a tumbler together from start to finish!
SouHaven Pottery is a small-batch artisan pottery studio that focuses on creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces designed to make your soul happy :) enjoy!!

Soul--- Mayco has moved the needle with their new products. I, too, have found peacocking and simple glaze melts much more exciting!

Yes!! It’s super fun! I’m filming a kiln unloading with another similar but taller tumbler and a different application bowl…kiln is still too hot! Fingers crossed for the morning 😆

Coyote glazes, first layer X 2 Red Gold, Gun metal green x2, Pams green spots on top rim give a beautiful peacock look.

I’ll try it! I’m always wanting to use glazes other than stroke and coat for the spots…thanks!

On the last painted on glaze that covers everything, does it have to be a crystal glaze? This is just beautiful! Thank you for teaching and sharing!

@triciac1019. It should be a glaze with crystals for best results. I’ve experimented with non crystal glazes and they just don’t flow like the Mayco Sandstone, Cenote and Winter wood do! But play with it, you might discover one that gives you a great result. A lot of it is the Mayco light flux as well!
