Paired one of these with a 65in C1. Really loving it so far. Setup with hdmi eARC. With the sound mode share it’s a really cool integrated experience and the sound is excellent. Thanks for helping me make an educated decision I’ll be listening to for years to come.
Looking at this exact setup - after a month, how do you like it? Anything worth rethinking?
Right now this soundbar is $699 at best buy with the rears at $129. I bought an LG C1 65 inch so this would be a complimentary soundbars have you noticed any syncing issues or does it sync to the tv via arc amoothly
What hdmi earc did u buy?
@@hgonz14 I just did this! LG C1 was $1799 at BB, SP9YA $650, Rears SPK8-S $129. All crazy deals and probably the best 'home theater out of the box' setup you can get today for value. I have no issues, the LG devices work great together and its all seamless and amazing. You DO have to go into the TV and actually turn eARC on which is strange, so dont forget to do that.
@@bstore2 yeah I think the aound share mode is not working as it should I read some things about it on Reddit. I noticed the sub bass lacks bass unless you put it in music , the Atmos sounds good though
Great review as usual. Is that subwoofer cloth covered? What were they thinking?
Hello, I liked your review, what do you think of the jbl compared to the LG sn9y?
Great review on a stellar soundbar.
Is it possible to fully dimm/ deactivate the LED-status-light during usage?
Very good review, could show the Lg SPD7Y
On spot review 👌🏻
The LG soundbar has one membrane each on the left and right, which is considerably important for the surround sound. There are quite a few who integrate the soundbar into a shelving system or similar lateral barriers and thus unconsciously forgo an extraordinary sound experience. Like here in the example in video 02:55
I just ordered this for delivery on Tuesday. LG G1 65 OLED coming on Friday.
How is the soundbar after 1 moth ? Is is good ? Is it worth it ? Any problems ?
@@bogdanz99 The soundbar is not bad. LG SP9YA I picked for $466 open box with tax. Is it worth $1000? No, not even worth $700 sale price to be honest. However, at $466 I have no major complaints with the soundbar. Simulated surround sound actually sounds good in a small room. Even in s large room it does a good job bouncing sound off the wall. The subwoofer sounds clean and can be impactful when you need it. Only downside is the center channel, you have to turn it above 50% before dialog matches the rest of the audio. While yes there's a subwoofer, the other drivers offer next to no bass which can make it sound hollow using low volume (15 or lower). 1 HDMI input is a bummer but if your TV supports Earc then it's a none issue. Use LG phone app to customize your audio settings and room calibration, that made a difference. I use A.I Sound mode along with DRC and at 50% (20 out of 40) I overall enjoy the audio from my soundbar. At the price I paid for it's a 7.5 out of 10.
@@hababacon Thank you for your quick reply and for the review about the soundbad. I was thinking to buy a decent sound bar between 500 and 1000 euro , but I found out that my tv ( lg sk8100pla) doesn't have the earc hdmi , only the arc one .It is written in the tv description that supports dolby atmos but without the earc port I'm not risking. Probably I will buy a cheap sound bar ( lg sl5y ) until I will upgrade my tv in the next few years . Do you think with an hdmi high speed cable is it possible the receive dolby atmos from my tv arc hdmi port ?
@@bogdanz99 The TV my soundbar is connected to is the C8 which supports Dolby Atmos in AC3 container. It doesn't have Earc, just arc and it works just fine. My G1 is connected to my Dennon IC 3500 AV which supports EARC. I use my XSX for EARC, the rest goes through my AV.
So I ordered this and it's arriving on the 18th of this month, should I cancel it and get the Sonos Arc sound bar instead?
What about the brand new SPD75A? Can't find reviews on that one anywhere :( I'm thinking of getting that or Samsung Q800a... Thank you!
Do u need any additional cables to plug into tv?
Which one would you recommend to pair with a 65” LG C1 between the SP9YA Or the Sonos Beam Gen 2? Mainly for movies and gaming, great video by the way!
@lucky_luciano7228 Thanks for the kind words! We don't have the SP9YA available any longer. It's a very different soundbar than the Sonos Beam Gen 2 though. The Beam Gen 2 is great, but if you want something similar to the SP9YA you'd want to look at the Sonos Arc: bit.ly/3P36E6Q or the LG S90QY: bit.ly/3ix84Ku They both offer a better Atmos experience along with more bass.
Hi! How is this better than sp8ya? Thanks
Is it possible to add a second wireless sub to this setup?
Been looking at options to pair with my LG CX.Looking at either this or the Sonos arc + sub
I’m a bought it day 1 and love it
How is it so far?
@@MrMhmd4 good
I have the LG C1 and want to mount this SOUNDBAR on bottom of TV But at
5. 7in it's a NO NO is there a MOUNT you would Recommend Please Help🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
At 1:16 you said the soundbar has a microphone to access Alexa & Google Assistant. Can you confirm that the microphone actually accepts voice commands? The SP9YA manual says you can control the soundbar by speaking to a *different* Alexa or Google Assistant device.
@wlee2001. You are correct. I misspoke on the microphones. The built in mics are for optimizing the soundbar to the room. You will need a separate Google or Amazon device to use voice control with the SP9YA. Thanks for watching!
Review LG qp5 éclair pls
My only issue with these LG sound bars is that when it detects Dolby Atmos it locks it in and you can’t switch to any other EQ or turn night mode on. The rear speaker additions are really awesome but ended up switching those speakers out with some Klipsch bookshelf speakers I’ve had.
Is it possible to put other brand rear speakers instead of lg spk8?
your able to use another brands speakers?
@@ericree4743 Yes. As I stated I use Klipsch speakers.
@@abdullahozer2980 Yes. As I stated I use Klipsch speakers.
Can this be used for UA-cam music 🎶 with the TV OFF ?
What model is lg’s flagship Atmos soundbar. Let me know asap thanks nick
@nicky6726. LG's flagship Atmos model is the SN11RG, however that one came out in 2020. The top Atmos model they released in 2021 is the SP9YA: www.abt.com/LG-Black-5.1.2-Channel-Audio-Sound-Bar-With-Dolby-Atmos-And-Works-With-Alexa-And-Google-Assistant-SP9YA/p/162639.html If you have any other questions please feel free to contact our experts at this link: www.abt.com/help/contact-us We're always happy to help. I have a Samsung HW-N650 at the moment, when I get home from deployment I’m thinking about switching my whole tv/audio setup. I think this might be it
Dude lol i have the same one I'm about to get this soundbar
@@Ant_Stark let me know how it sounds!!
Thank you for your service
Yes thank u for your service
Thank you for thanking me for my service
Just picked up yesterday with a 70in Samsung Crystal UHD set up through HDMI eARC and while the soundbar and woofer sounded amazing in BestBuy… I’m pretty bummed at how it sounds in my home. Dialog is extremely high while the bass is tremendously lackluster 😕 probably going to take it back for something else today
You can lower the mids, just use the LG Soundbar app. You can also use the app for calibrating it automatically
@@MariusMerchiers oh, wow 👀 I has no idea there was even an app! I’m going to have to try that out first! Thanks!
@@crakka5150 did it work ?
@@Alexis28454 I just set it on the E-ARC (Automatic Room Calibration, I believe) which sounded the best to me and then I ran some audio tests with the sub in several different locations to see where it sounded best. I mean, it sounds great… but it has to be set on 20+ for the bass to really start coming through. I enjoy it but I do wish it had a little more thump to it but overall quality wise, it’s A1 👌🏼 I should also add that I have really high standards for bass. I run an 18in sub with 3,500watts-rms in my vehicle, so my expectations are pretty high, even for home audio 😂
@@crakka5150 if you want Bass you would want to go with Klipsch i used to own the Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 for PC 2 10 inch subs if i remember correctly back in 2003 cant say for these days not sure if its still around. I was able to connect another sub stack on top giving me 4 10 inch subs man my neighbors hated me when i played medal of honor
I bought a 65 inch C1 and currently have a Samsung Q80r soundbar thinking of getting this soundbar would you recommend it over the Q80r soundbar ?
Sure, why not
Does this bar fit under the c1? I want to know if this bar would block a part of the bottom of the TV screen
with the stand the screen starts at a height of 4 cm. the bar is 5.6 cm tall so theres 1.6 cm covered from the picture if its standing right in front of it.
correction: I just realized that the height on the right side is 3.2 cm and 3.5 cm on the left side from my c1 XD so yea that makes it even worse with a display coverage of 2.4 cm max
@@deSaemichlaus I actually just received the soundbar last night, I knew the bar would cover a little bit of the bottom going in, however I've realized it's not that big of an issue for me because from my viewing position and angle, the bar BARELY covers the bottom part of the C1, so initially I was inclined to get some sort of big piece of dark wood to put the TV on, but now I don't think it's necessary. Admittedly I do watch content on a computer chair so I have the luxury of just easily increasing my own viewing height distance so the bar doesn't cover any centimeter of the bottom part.
So yea it really depends on your position and angle, it's definitely not good if you're watching from a sofa that is low to the ground and with a seat cushion that makes you go even further down, in that case I would suggest getting a custom wood piece made that covers the base of the C1 to put it on
@@Draxxuzownzu what can you tell me about the sound? is it worth the money? how much did you pay?
@@deSaemichlaus $692 after taxes. Truthfully I don't have much experience with soundbars, I've only ever used 1 before but it's from the early 2000s, at a ~200 usd price, so I didn't really like it that much, but it wasn't and I didn't personally use it much. Anyways this soundbar is definitely wayyy better than the TV sound, I always wanted to pair a decent sound system with my newly purchased c1 as well but I had a hard time deciding between dedicated speakers in a 3.0 setting, and a soundbar. Ultimately I went with the soundbar for the simplicity of the setup and didn't really want to deal with the huge avr and all the speaker wires, especially since I don't have optimal furniture.
This soundbar makes dialogue sound way better (might seem weird at first, but then you try switching back to the TV speakers and you really notice the big difference and how much better the soundbar is) and gives an all around more revolving sound, the bar, even though it is pricey, also comes with a wireless sub which is nice, aint the best, but it does a decent job, I certainly feel it after playin with the settings and placement a bit. You can adjust pretty much all the sound settings with the lg soundbar app (also an extra huge plus, simple, nice ui, easy setup) super easily. The "surround" aspect of the soundbar is admittedly not super felt but I read before purchasing that everyone pretty much agreed on the necessity of grabbing the rear speakers as well, so I also got the rears for an extra $130, I just haven't set them up yet because the stands I got haven't arrived. But once I set them up I'm pretty sure the "surround" aspect of the soundbar will actually be felt and the sound system as a whole feel complete and I'm gonna be extremely happy with it, I already am happy with it and that's with the surround aspect being sub-par (rtings themselves only rate the soundbar's surround at like 5.2 ish iirc, you can check their article/review on the bar if you'd like). The bar and sub really shines with atmos content, it's great.
How does this one compare to the LG DSP9YA, since they're currently at the same price point?
@WimmelJimmel It looks to be very similar. That model isn't available in the US market though, so we don't have it here to verify. But based on the specs we've found, they look almost identical.
hi, does spk8-sIs rear speakers fit and works well with lg sn9y sound bar?
Yes mate
@@steverowell4357 thanks 😊
Hello, I have a strange question for you: if I put the subwoofer tilted of 90° (practically resting on the long side) do you think there could be performance problems?
I am sure you've found your answer. But others might read the question.
Yes you will run into problems most woofers will be designed to fire "down" using the floor (or hard surface) to spread the low frequency soundwave. If you tilt it to the side it will bounce of what ever it is firing towards. So a wall, 10meters (20f) away will be the resonant surface. It will cause delay, distortion and a much shallower sound.
Can you? Sure, if you must but you will leave performance and quality on the table... or floor in this case.
Don't tip your woofers folks.
Real subwoofers are nondirectional, so your idea should have minimal impact. The placement is way more important for the overall sound than the orientation of the unit.
Just put it on something that could pass for feet or a smilar surface so that it doesn't slide about when the built in footsies aren't planted on the floor.
Hello, please tell me if I can connect additional rear speakers to this soundbar?and what is the name of the model of additional columns???
mrmoriarti2685 This soundbar is compatible with the model SPK8S surround speaker package, however that package has been discontinued.
Just parvhased for 280. Display model but guy said theyre never on bc the displays suck
I’m between this and the Samsung hw800a. Which should I choose?
@lynzxer021. They're both great soundbars, but for ease of use we'd recommend going with the brand that matches your TV. This way you can take advantage of all the available features on either. If you don't have a Samsung or LG TV, the SP9YA is a more powerful system with more channels built into the soundbar. And it's currently (as of 11/3) on sale for only about $70 more than the Samsung, so it would be the better value. If you need any assistance choosing, please be sure to contact our experts at 800-860-3736. We're always happy to help. Thanks for watching!
@@abtelectronics thank you so much for the quick reply! I just got an LG G1 yesterday. I was leaning towards the Samsung soundbar, but I’ll definitely get the LG. God bless 🙏🏽
A sound demo is only as good as the camera and medium you’re watching this on …
What are rear speakers?? For this sound bar
@kilmar mondragon. The surround speakers for this model are the SPK8-S. Thanks for watching!
How is it compared to LG SP8YA?
I have both and sometimes I feel like the 8 is better. It just hits a little harder while watching movies.
Does any one knows which watch Carl is wearing?
Best buy has this item on sale today for $350 off. I just purchased it.
Whole world = Centimeters
Usa = inches...
LG Soundbars are World's best in its class presently.
err nope
"here's a sound demo" that I'm recording through a microphone the compressing when uploading to UA-cam then you are playing through a different sound system. Because that's going to tell you something about the sound that comes out of it.
Why not just tell us if it's any good then say a sound demo makes no sense on a UA-cam video. So silly
This Soundbar has very little bass, and very little surround effects.
It sounds horrible! It is not 500 watts. More like 20! The tv speakers sound 100 times better than this model. I have a 80 dollar sound bar that sounds 10 times louder on low than this LG sound bar. I took it back to the store same day.
Sure?
most pointless sound demo ever. why even have one
May as well just used the tv speakers!
