    Ted - Good job on making Curl (plan vid) and Ben (talk and demo) and work for you. This THP show is a great experience for all of you (the main guys and the interns) and you will all remember this time period fondly for the rest of your lives. You all know a great deal about hunting and are learning more, and we the Public are learning from you. Keep up the great work.

    if you guys do local hunts or just hunts close to your house I take a thermos if I plan on staying out all day and cook hot pockets and stuff them into the empty thermos. keeps them warm/hot for a while. beats eating the same thing over and over.

    U can buy a big jug of permetherin at Tractor supply for around $30. Cut it with water to get the correct concentration. I use about an ounce per gallon. Put your clothes in 5 gallon bucket and pour the mix in. U can do a bunch of outfits with a gallon. Just make sure u purchase a water based permethrin. Way cheaper than buying the name brand.

    • @mztd912
      @mztd912 2 роки тому

      You don't need to soak your clothes. Just spray it on. Get a good heavy duty hand sprayer, the $5 ones not the cheap $1 crap, and spray everything with it. Just the outside. Don't forget your hat and socks and inside your boots.

    I always carry a whistle (like a coaches whistle) in my hunting gear. If you get lost or hurt a whistle is louder and will travel farther than your voice and you can blow a whistle longer than you can yell for help. Big help if you need someone to find you in the wood and in the dark.

    Got a hot tip for you guys. Learned this when I hiked the Appalachian trail don't use the swear bags they're going to pop and plus it's hard to fill them up with water. Used two smart water bottles the Sawyer filters grew right on

    Salt the neck roast liberally the night before and let it sit in the fridge in a zip loc overnight. Just keep it mostly submerged in whatever liquid you're cooking it in and don't pull it till it's falling off the bone. Look up Hank Shaw's venison Barbacoa recipe, pretty simple and delicious. Makes awesome tacos.

    Ted if you want your buckles to be quiet on your sticks try those Yak Grips.you can cut them in half and cover two buckles with one grip.its a neoprene sleeve.you can still operate the buckle like normal but if the bounce off anything its silent.check them out.when ya cut them in half ya gotta throw a stitch or two where you cut them.then the stitching won't come undone

    If the neck roast seems a bit tough... you haven't cooked it long enough! If you want to save time on cooking meat, invest in a pressure cooker (Insta-Pot) type pressure cooker. 25 to 30 minutes in my PC has turned any meat I've cooked in it like pulled pork consistency. I carry 3 or 4 bottles of water in my pack, but I transfer the water from those LOUD think crinkley bottles into thicker (Mountain Dew type) or any 20 oz. soft drink bottle. Zero crinkle! Thanks for the gear review!!

    Hey guys, a year ago I got into sous vide cooking. This yearI bagged a nice Tom on our Neighbors property, invited come over for dinner and cook wild turkey sous vide style. I was blown away how tender and easy it was. Our neighbors claimed that it was the best ever. This was the first time I used this method but since then I have been cooking venison this way. Like last night I cooked a 4 lb roast that I marinated in soy and brown sugar…put it in the “bath” for 24 hrs at 130 degrees then threw it on a hot grill to sear, so tender, so delicious but best of all … so easy….no mess…I plan to bring this camping this year on the hunts that have electric hookups….a must try.

    Great video guys! Throw that roast in the crockpot and start it right before bed with onions even if the recipe doesn’t call for them. All my venison and fishy tasting fish get cooked with onions. I can fool a seasoned sportsman into believing they are eating fresh walleye fillets just by mincing some onions and putting them into my traditional batter. Onion cuts gamie taste out like nothin else and you won’t taste the onion at all, just neutralizes the meat or fish and sets it up for your other seasoning/recipe
