Lettuce Soup...... Good call.......If they are a little bitter, cook them as a pasta greens, sweetened with a little Balsamic Vinegar and salty sweetness of shaved Parmesan. Served with chopped garlic chives at the end would "put the top hat on it" Bon Appetite !!

hahahah, yeah, many a bitter lettuce has been shuffled into 'vegetabledom' but mum is a bit funny about the texture of it cooked! So just me.

Cheers Jessie now the clocks have gone back it really feels like the season has moved on into deep autumn and everything has slowed down. Well done for staying the course with the plot tour. and with no coat!! You still have so much going on despite the wet and cold and oh so grey. Have a great week.

You were brave to do the plot tour in the rain it's looking super tidy. I have now decided I don't like growing cabbages, an exception is the perennial tree cabbage which I have discovered are idiot proof and grows well without covering with no caterpillar or pigeon damage. Wow Jessie that must have been one hell of a hangover ! Potty mouth was excellent as per usual too. Take care x

Lovely tour of the allotment - it's looking great. And that string bag did look like Rab C Nesbit's vest although I think his vest was a bit more of a yellowy gray, your bag is lovely and white. Looks very hand for carrying veggies in.
Thank you for another great video.

Hello Jess and mum. I remember making a string vest all the rage to wear over tshirts in the early 60s that bag triggered the memory just as you commented on the person who wore one.
Definitely a grey English day even on the camera. Finally had two beaut sunny days down here and another today so the vegies I planted are finally happy. Yippee. I tell you what mind Jess watching you does make the year seem to fly by or was it just such a rotten summer that it seemed so short.
Jess plant those long standing cabbage seedlings that’s what mine looked like after few months they got planted out under net and now look fantastic

Always love your positive attitude, you and your mom's work ethic, and so happy you mentioned what those pretty pink flowers are. Hello! For what it’s worth, an overcast day is really good for filming because there’s fewer shadows. You can really see everything nicely. Sometimes the high contrast of bright sunshine casting dark shadows messes up the presentation to a viewer, like What’s that big - oh it’s shadow, never mind, wish it wasn’t so dark, looked like a hole from here!

My experience was with Asparagus in my pasture which grew in a clump of 6 or 7 Aspen trees, so filtered sun. They were gigantic spears, bigger than my thumb every year for 30 plus years. Probably grew that way cause I didn’t help. 😂

I normally use scissors for harvesting leafy greens rather than secateurs, they give a nice clean cut.
Shame about your beans, hopefully there are more waiting to pop their heads up.
