Its fun to watch these 2 jam. Its so typical when guys get together. You sit and play half songs while trying to remember others, and usually aggravate anyone hangin round to listen. Its so true. Happens at my place almost every weekend. Really wish the guys, all the guys, not just the originals, would do something together. Doesn't have to be the whole big make-up and bombs thing. Just be real and play. Pay tribute to your fans and your entire catalog.
@@JRPrestonILProbably not because it's not scripted and he'd be too insecure in his responses. Just my opinion but I just like seeing them get along and have fun.
Pretty good blues stuff happening here before Torpedo Girl... and yes. It is hard to play lead on an acoustic guitar. i don't blame Ace for trying... he is used to play more on electric guitars rather then acoustics....
Look no further than the interview segments of the MTV Unplugged special... Ace said that he's fine playing an acoustic guitar on rhythm, but "playing lead acoustic is a NIGHTMARE!" It's why he chose 2000 Man over Shock Me.
'KISS' did a better job - during the "Convention"-era (1995), due to the band having rehearsed - before-hand. Audiences were calling-out (just about) every song, and the group could play it. (Kudos to Bruce Kulick - for that.) // But Ace (in every video I've watched) can't pull-off some-thing as simple as "Cold Gin" - on an electric. (And okay - he's still toured live, so I know he hasn't forgotten every-thing.) As well, Gene forgets the lyrics - even with his solo-band. (And yes...I know he was doing that - as far back as 'Cobo Hall'-'76 ("Ladies In Waiting" - or one of the tunes).) Why don't they want to make the effort? (They can't claim stage-fright - since this is second-nature to them.) // They're not going to be around for-ever, and it would be nice to document all of their old material - live on video. Still - thank you for this. Andrew (Mon., 1-29-18) (10:54 a.m.)
Seeing Gene and Ace getting along and doing a sloppy obscure favorite is a great start to the new year. I smell a mini reunion,or many a series of one off shows here and there. Hmmm maybe Tommy's contract is up for negotiations and he asked for more money on the back end. If that is the case, maybe it will be cheaper to get Ace back for a third time at a discount lol I joke about that but that's honestly how Gene and Paul think, sorry to say. If they chip away on more obscure songs like that,I would go see a Gene/Ace just for fun tour with a tight set playing some obscure Ace and Gene songs that were never played in concert. X-Ray eyes and Save your Love would be fucking gold to hear live if they can get it right lol Much love for both of them,Paul can go pound sand. I truly believe Gene misses Peter and that tired line of he's a junkie is Paul's propaganda and Gene has to agree to keep the partnership intact. It's so sad,Paul's resentment towards Peter that he's held on to since 1976/77,right around the time Beth became their biggest AM Radio crossover hit.
Hey he's played more than 60 years and this is u scripted so I think it's cool just two legends whose accomplished more tours, made more albums, actually wrote hits, than most could dream of and on top of that he's influenced guitar players who also went on to success. Dd's each of these are milestones people would love to have any ONE and yet it's only part of there histories....
Ace made a comment on the Unplugged Video about playing an acoustic guitar "Is a nightmare"! He don't like playing them, and they are not the same as an electric guitar to play. That's probably why he isn't doing so well.
Agree, Daskeladden1. He's had 4 decades to get better, and obviously isn't a fan of acoustic guitar (from the Unplugged interviews, (in Bronx accent):"Playing acoustic guitar was a nightmare!!"). Check out SRV's 12 string version of 'Rude Mood'. Scary good, and something Ace couldn't even play in wildest fantasies.
Love it when Gene says "You wrote it", and Ace replies "Yeah, but I haven't played it in 45 years".
this is what the fans want more of, just them getting along and jamming out, laughing. Doesnt matter if they play good, just to see them have fun.
100% Agreed
nah. that's fine if they DON'T pick up instruments, but if they play, i don't want them to be awful.
mark swishersweets you're 100% right
Gene: "What song is that? You WROTE it!"
Love that part!
Ace can’t even remember his own bass line that he wrote…😂

Lol...yup, b/c it would mean he'd have to let someone else decide something.

Ace admitted alcohol got the best of him but he's been sober for 15 years or more but gene is the one who changed his ego just got out of control
Great to see them together and to have some fun playing those songs.
Loved it I think someone from this band needs to make a blues record.
Id love to see the rest of this, its really cool to see Ace and Gene back at it
just gene and ace in the same room at the same time getting along is amazeing.......

lol this is awful... still love those old kiss records tho!
What a mess
Ace had seriously some the most amazing solos on ‘tape’ but holy shit he sucks? What happened
