Yes, I'm back. Sorry for the long sabbatical, I've been doing stuff on my other channel and also freelancing. You can learn to fight like a monkey, or fighting whilst drunk ... that's a real thing! 2) As a Cantonese speaker, I know my Mandarin needs work - so please, knock off the pronunciation comments. 3) Because this is a martial arts video, you'll always get some supposed 'smart-ass' saying stuff like "anyone doing MMA would kill these guys". But do you know what would beat an MMA fighter ... any idiot holding a gun. It's all relative.
General comparison for people who still don’t get it after watching: Taolu = Figure skating or gymnastics, but a lot more badass. Sanda = MMA minus joint locks. Hope that’s somewhat correct!
Not really, for your Sanda analysis. No knees or elbows are allowed in the World Sanda Championships or World Wushu Championships. No groundwork is allowed and clinch time is a maximum of two seconds (unless you’re in the process of throwing, which they’ll typically give you a little bit more time to work with, but nothing over 5 seconds). You get punches, kicks, and throws, but it’s more limited than MMA.

But run it through google translate, look back at any of the videos, or the rule book you mentioned, and you’ll see it spelled as changquan. The potato example is actually a perfect counter-example. Just because some people pronounce potato as potayto makes no difference, but potayto would never be the correct spelling.
