WARNING: I definitely erred in using Clear Coat on top of the Primer and Outdrive Paint because the clear coat basically nullifies the ablative properties of the paint. My drives weren't awful when we hauled out at the end of the season, but it was clear they weren't great either. Please excuse my first time maintenance blunder!
I think you might be looking for this - ua-cam.com/video/dolEnw-2REU/v-deo.html. Be advised that in the video you just watched I made a mistake and added a gloss that defeated the purposes of painting. I did not use the gloss this past year and the outdrives were much better. You can see that difference in my latest haul out video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I totally get the cost of the paint...I'll be interested to see how the single coat of each layer holds up over the season when you haul out in the fall. Big boats ain't cheap, are they! LOL Excited for your launch day! Mine should be the week of 4/17 😁😁
$65 for a can of white! Didn’t want to spend another $130. And it took 3 weeks to get to me. Yeah we’ll see how everything holds up. 4/17 is soon. Nice. Will connect soon.
Jeff,, it’s important to have a clean mating surface when attaching anodes. Couldn’t exactly tell but did you sand to bare metal? Any metal touching the anode should be clean and unpainted..
To any one looking at this, just follow the TDS from International…not what’s happened here. Trilux shouldn’t be coated over , as they have stated. You also need several coats over the correct primer. The nstructions are on the can, ensure you wait they 3 hours between coats too for Trilux.
Hmmm. I don’t think I painted the shafts. Where do you see that in the video? I thought I had taped everything. In terms of color these outdrives came in white so that’s what I used. I definitely erred in using the last step in that it basically nullifies the ablative properties of the paint. In any case this is why the playlist is called first time maintenance. I often times don’t know exactly what I’m doing and I appreciate comments like yours that question what I’ve done. I need to learn. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Where is part 1 of this video?

I'd also be happy to answer any questions if I'm able.

Dude you painted the shafts of the trim unites. Not cool. Why did you not paint the outdrive the Volvo color?

Crikies, thats the worst paint job I have ever seen........
Well we’re still learning. It’s amateur maintenance. What would you have done differently?
