Here's my introduction to the Hitchhiker's 6 book series. Are they all worth reading?
I'll be looking at how this comedy series doesn't need much plot or characters to have a fun time. Hitchhikers has a lot of deeper things to say about life and the universe itself. And we'll look at how this series predicted the future!

Fun fact: The number 42 is used A LOT in computer science (and I think other sciences as well), so that is another part of Hitchhiker's legacy.
Adams' work on Doctor Who is worth a watch. City of Death is amazing.
I've read the entire Hitchhikers Guide series, years ago. Perfect intro. The story line is unimportant. Just crack it open anywhere. and start reading. Its almost like a comedic reference book, say an encyclopedia (as in Encyclopedia Galactica).
As someone who read the first book of The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy and this video has made me super excited to read it again and continue the series! It’s such a fun ride.
I'm a bit late to the party here, but I just want to highlight the brilliant use of language in this book series. As an English-as-a-second-language person, this is where I learned English wit, irony, and outright sarcasm. Yay! :)
Hitchhiker has always somehow struck me as Monty Python in space for the reasons you lay out
12:24 That quote immediately invoked in my mind the scene from _The Holy Grail_ where Monty Python guys shout: 'Get on with it!'
Nice! I've got to work that clip into a video somewhere. 😂
That insert of "Somehow Palpatine returned" got me 🤣
To be honest, it got me too! 🤣
I listened to the first radio series when I was 17. Loved it. Best version of Marvin's sarcastic misery for sure.
I started reading Hitchhiker's after seeing the number 42 in a lot of programming code. Every time a random seed was set it was with the number 42. I looked it up and saw it was a reference to these books and decided to give it a go. I've only read the first two yet, but they're pretty fun. I enjoyed the first one more though, and even if they dip in quality, I plan to read them all.
Bro just wanted to say you are an incredible channel, keep up the great work. The views will come in due time.
Bro! Thank you for such a lovely, encouraging comment.
These books are a special something for me, both my dad and I bounded over this when I gave him his copy 😊 (I just now got him on Pratchett and he loves it too) as always great video 🌻 hope your day is awesome!
Just wanted to say my google nest started playing journey on spotify after she heard you 😅
Oh no! Haha sorry about that!!!
Ind33d it is. And suxh a fun read ! Best humour next to discworld
Highlight of working from home on a Friday morning is watching your videos
My Thursday isn't complete until I get a new video essay on some cool books
Douglas Adams was a writer for Doctor Who and Monty Python.
Love ya work
Listened to the audiobook narrated by Stephen Fry, it's a treat
Nothing wrong with cheap books. Some people prioritise the collection of beautiful objects and I wish those people all the best.
I have my criticisms of Douglas Adams but I think it's unfortunate that he gets directly compared to Terry Pratchett so often. Adams was never really trying to be that sort of storyteller. I love Pratchett, but he casts an awfully large shadow.
Oooh that's a really good point! Prachett is a giant, and I guess it can be unfair to compare anyone to him. Thank you!
2:57 Ain't that whats happened to most Star Wars fans? Imo it is
I don't believe these books exist 🤪
Trilogy of five
I believe somewhere in the Total Perspective Vortex, they do.
