In a free society, people choose what they eat and drink. Harming others, whether deliberately or through negligence, is very serious, hence drunk driving laws. Parents, and school could play a meaningful part in food and drink education, and still does to some extent, but the impulse to ban things is simply due to power mad people who disdain the freedoms of others.
