Driving I-29 south to Kansas City, following I-35 and US-71 along the way. MS paint was used to make the road signs. Music: Vitalic - Second Lives / eluko79
Brought back instant memories of my visit in 2006 to KC. The new Paseo Bridge looks nice! On a side note, you seem to always feature some really catchy electronic music. I just looked up Vitalic; downloaded a few tracks that I may use in my future videos. "Thumbs up!"
Pretty city! Loving the highways through the hills. Nice skyline too. You do great vids and I love the music choices. You need to come down here and do some Texas cities! They are beasts. Cheers from Dallas.
You're right about the city boundaries being confusing, they're confusing to many of us who have lived in KC for most or all of our lives. Great video! Love the segment featuring the Bond Bridge.
A minor correction... You don't go into Jackson County until you cross the Missouri River. Kansas City, MO, is spread out over both Clay County (north of the river) and Jackson County (south of the river).
Hey Luke, great video. I just came through here a couple of months ago, and I know exactly what you mean about the confusing city limits. Thanks for the ride!! Great music also.
Nice video of my old hometown..now there would be I-49/US 71 South to "JOPLIN".....KC is served now by the interstates 35, 70, 29, 49 and the local appendages 435, 635, 470, 670...for a metro of only just over 2 million, KC has a great road network!
@eluko79 No problem! As a lifelong resident of metro KC, it caught my attention. If you ever have questions regarding KC, please feel free to ask. Always enjoy your videos!
@eluko79 Yes US 71 will remain U S 71 north of the interchange. There are no plans to take away the three stoplights at Gregory Blvd, 59th Street, and 55th Street.
Missouri highways wider than two lanes have a weird feature that takes getting used to. The right lane suddenly peels off to an exit with very little warning.
riolindasucks It's funny you mention that. I recently had to drive the largest size UHaul from KC to Vermont and could much more easily feel the bumpiness of roads and was surprised how bad I-70 was through Illinois. Indiana wasn't great either. My guess at the time was that most of the federal road construction money was probably going into the infrastructure of the Chicago metro which would make sense since there are a lot of highly trafficked roads in Chicagoland, being one of the most expansive suburbs in the country, but I'm not sure.
European Roads I was actually pretty surprised when I read that about KC having the most limited access highway in the US with Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex being second. It does make sense with it being a major hub city for distribution.
Nice! Kansas City is the metro area with the highest amount of lane miles per capita. In theory, it should be one of the least congested metro areas of the U.S. Traffic volumes are not high though, I don't think there are spots with more than 150,000 AADT.
@eluko79 Maybe but I haven't heard any plans to extend I-45. Yes I-29 would be out of place but also remember most of I-71 is east of I-75 and lets not forget where I-99 not to also mention much of the planned I-73 is east of I-75 and even I-77 is so there are exceptions to the grid. If I-29 is not going to be extended to Joplin than what's the explanation for the I-35 duplex?
@eluko79 yes. the courts have that section of road tied up the way it is. I think they should free it for changes and mandate pedestrian overpasses instead. modot was smart, though with one thing in case things change. everywhere there's a stop light the median widens so much they could turn current US 71 at those sections into outer roads and put in a new freeway down the median
Kansas City was named after the Kansa Indians, not the river. If the city was going to take a river name, it would have taken MISSOURI. Kansas City is in Missouri and has suburbs that spill over into the state of Kansas.
No it's NOT idiot. Kansas City is in Missouri. There was a city on the Kansas side that was originally named Wyandotte" which later changed their name to Kansas City" to copy the real city in Missouri. The city and everything about Kansas City is in MISSOURI. Kansas just has some ugly, shitty suburbs.
shaka zulu ugly and shitty accurately describes kcmo east of troost. Johnson county is one of the safest counties in the Midwest with the best schools.
@@iknowdeweybrudda6564 talk to me about WY CO..??..I was raised in KC North..where did all this hatred come from?..my only problem was that everyone thought I was from NKC not KCN..and that was before I realized the whole KCMO/KCK thing!! :)
Kansas City was not named after the river. If the city was going to be named after a river it would have been MISSOURI city as the Missouri is the main river. Kansas City was named after the Kansa indian tribe in the region. Kansas City MISSOURI had the name "Kansas" before Kansas even became a state. Kansas City is named after the Kansa indians.
I-49 should be renumbered as I-29 for it’s extension.

If you think that is bad, check out saint louis
That's one of the coolest videos I've stumbled upon ever. thank you!
Excellent production, KC did a great job replacing/upgrading the Paseo Bridge, big thumbs up!
KC did a great job remodeling the Passover bridge
I meant The Paseo bridge
A minor correction... You don't go into Jackson County until you cross the Missouri River. Kansas City, MO, is spread out over both Clay County (north of the river) and Jackson County (south of the river).
That's a nice road and the new bridge looks impressive. Never been to KC, but I plan to in the future. Looking forward to the other vids.
I really like the music
Same tvh lol.
That route looks very drivable. Cool video.
cool. especially the parts were the signs spread out towards their designated exits.
Hey Luke, great video. I just came through here a couple of months ago, and I know exactly what you mean about the confusing city limits. Thanks for the ride!! Great music also.
They widened 29/35 from the split to downtown! I thought that would never happen.
+PelicanGuy, it’s Because they Replaced the Bridge over the Missouri River.

@eluko79 You should check out the Veterans' Glass City Skyway in Toledo, it's an awesome bridge to film on.
FreewayAndrew, Freewayjim and eluko79 check out Toledo, Oh.
It's my favorite city!
I need on I-29 going north out of Kansas City. There was a Kmart off of I-29 in Kansas City.
@eluko79 Yes US 71 will remain U S 71 north of the interchange. There are no plans to take away the three stoplights at Gregory Blvd, 59th Street, and 55th Street.
i live in omaha and have been to states all across the country but have not been to kansas city lol
Missouri highways wider than two lanes have a weird feature that takes getting used to. The right lane suddenly peels off to an exit with very little warning.
I like it that way. You should try living in Denver!

I love the lighting! What time of evening did you film this?
And I love Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas. Ha
Cool video. BTW, what do you use to design the signs? Thanks in advance.

Also, US-69 goes through Ankeny. Hopefully you plan coming to Des Monies someday!
That would be nice
I know. Been waiting for too long.
I use to live in Gladstone MO about 10 miles from Downtown or more. I recently moved to Dallas.
@eluko79 Maybe but I haven't heard any plans to extend I-45. I didn't think much of the city itself, but I liked KC's (and, overall, Missourah's) highways--they seem to be in pretty good shape overall.
Today there are tents in the mo dot highway green spaces
@eluko79 yes. the courts have that section of road tied up the way it is. I think I-29 is planned to be extended south with US 71 to Joplin. That would explain why it's duplexed with I-35 to downtown.
I 29 is in rough shape, but being from IL I'm used to driving on crappy road surfaces.
What is the camera model you used to record? :)
I used a flip ultra for this video.
2:42 this is where it gets dangerous

shaka zulu nope Kansas is better. Kansas City is in both states

Driving into KCM looks so much like SPfg Mo
I-29 is supposed to be renumbered I-49 When It will be extended to I-49 in Shreveport, Louisana.
CABLES ARE GOING UP ON THE NEW STL BRIDGE!!!!!!!!!!! :DDDDDDD
They can exit to the left, we can't do the in Atlanta
Denver needs something like this.
