The accident he had that badly damaged his left foot didn’t help...if you can’t feel the brake pedal properly of course you’re going to struggle to win a single seater race, especially in a field of drivers of that calibre. History says he was quick in his F3 and World Sportscar days.

Murray Walker was the voice of F1, but Martin is the voice now and a man who looks at the sport he loves with a critical and sensible perspective. The look on his face at the end, with his son, reminded me of when my dad and I rode motorcycles across the U.S., and when we got back home, how happy he looked at finally having done it, and, with me. I had started riding in '76; taught him to ride my bike the next year, and bought him his own Yamaha 750 in 78. We did the trip in 1981. Wonderful memories with dad, and I'm sure the Brundles felt a similar way after their race together.

That was fun! Good stuff! I enjoy Martin's F1 commentary and it was fun to watch him race with his son. I'm jealous though! I need to get to that track for a vacation!

A really nice piece. Well done to Martin and Alex. That puncture was so painful though.. still I hope Martin does this again next time.

Great for the kids to be able to see just how quick Martin is in a sports car, even now.
Did remind me, though, that he's only one win away from the Enduro Triple Crown. Any chance Sky can send Martin and Alex to Sebring? Sure, they'll need a third driver, but there's no shortage of top drivers on the SSF1 team - I'm sure Jenson or Damon would be up for it!

This place is so slippery in the wet. The surface of several corners is 90% BMW M series tyre rubber.
