Will you grab it? - !!FREE until October 31st 2023!! In the video I say 16th because that was the info I got from Pulsar. But its changed to 31, means everyone has more time to get it ;-)
I hate to say it but the free TDR VOS Slick EQ still outperforms the Pulsar W495. I challenge you to test it for yourself and draw your own conclusions! It's slightly more versatile based on additional features and has several harmonic profiles.
I can't imagine that I'd have ever bought this but... It's free! I've been unsure about Pulsar's EQs, so I'll give this a go. Their Echorec emulation is rather good.
@@audiotoolshed False advertising could be an issue. It may lead to purchases by people looking for a sound that it doesn't come close to. Especially when the marketing trumpets the hardware's reputation. Otherwise, no. There have been very few occasions where I was shopping with the sound of a specific piece of hardware in mind and, of course, I would trial it first when that's available - and never expect a perfect match!
PSA: you may never need to oversample in this plug-in. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean you need to use it. It’s nearly linear and has no cramping, so just go to town at 1x OS, should be fine.
Im against hoarding stuff... but somehow i really like this freebie... seem im going to snatch this one up :D Thanks for you great review and the efforts for putting up videos! :)
Great demo Marlon. I've got mine waiting, I've already had the Pulsar Mu, Massive, Smasher in use for a while. The meter here is identical to the Massive or very close. It seems similar to Massive in that high boost levels are still musical. Positives I'm seeing: Great sound Emulates analog sound without analog box price Does M/S FREE! C'mon why not get it? @@audiotoolshed I was made aware of this plug-in being free yesterday (Eastern time US, about 4:30 PM) so I went there to download. No issues then. I haven't actually downloaded, just ordered it with a receipt email.
I agree. Too much shiny products in this day and age. But sometimes some eqs do give some specific colors ..so.... no need to collect all the eqs outthere but a few might help
When it's an analog emulation, there's going to be a bit different sound. I have several EQ plug-ins but I only use a few. Ditto compressor, limiter, clipper, saturation, distortion, reverb, delay. Bottom line not every EQ is equal.
its a free nice plugin but is not a wa495 ,it has no body no low end is not warm and this is not the tone of the real deal i have the antelope wa495 and is very close

problems with the pulsar website at the moment....I guess it's too good...😁
Definitely
I've tried to, but their website hangs at the checkout and doesn't let me proceed. Hmmm.
Finally , autogain on an EQ.
Got it!
Maybe overloaded site? Anyway this will be for a month, you can always try later without any worries.
For me, this is an EQ worth having for the auto gain alone - Very musical too - Thanks!
That autogain is chef's kiss.

Wow good video and this plug-in really sounds great. Thank you
Thanks man.
Thanks for the Video, this plugins is great! I will be using since it's simple yet very powerful and autogain is a really nice feature
The autogain is a BIG plus :-)
Good audio examples make a huge difference in overall presentation. Nice one.
Website crashes at the moment but I’m sure it will come back up
Yeah hilarious ^^

Free is the best price!
FWIW I've been using their Massive which I really like. I have to guess it sounds like a Manley as that's not in my budget.
@@DeltaWhiskeyBravo13579 That's one I've definitely been thinking about getting. It's good to hear that you like it.
Food for thought, does it matter if it doesnt sound exactly as a hardware manley but still sounds good?

I also think so, maybe he’ll do a comparison 😂

yup, i already mentioned it has been taken care of nicely.
I suppose their website is down due to too much traffic
Yeah it has been up and down during the whole day.
I missed out on Pulsars Smasher when it was free & I regretted it. Not missing this plugin!

Nice. They extended it. It was the 16th before. I'll edit out that part to not generate confusion.

Nice on time ^^
Who is the vocalist? Very distinct voice
Sounds like Rose Gray
i tested this in few mixes now. this eq is too harsh. cannot boost over 4 db. it gets too harsh above 5 db..
That’s what’s happening with this eq indeed and the Neumann is known for it.
Where are the mid side switches? mine doesn’t have any!
below each band.
They arnt there, have I downloaded a different one?
@tez003 very weird. I would contact pulsar. But to be sure, you are using it on a stereo track when those buttons are not showing?
@@audiotoolshed 🙈
Maybe I’l stick with my free TDR Nova version, then
Can't tell you what to do, but as this is free why not get it anyway?
Why does it make sense to own 25 different EQ´s ?
I agree.
Too much shiny products in this day and age.
But sometimes some eqs do give some specific colors ..so.... no need to collect all the eqs outthere but a few might help
You don't need 25 eqs at all. Pick the ones you like. Doesn't hurt to keep an eye on new plugins though nor do you need to own those. Choice is good!

Yeah
It’s DSP Heavy
I use
Kirchoff
And
Nebula
API A5 EQ
Sontac EQ and GML EQ Surge
Those are my 4
I’ll stick with those
It doesn't use DSP. And it isnt CPU heavy, not even a percentage point on my 4 year old CPU.
iLok
this doesn't sound analog at all... too harsh
Analog does not equal warmth necessarily ;-)
I got the original hardware. It’s useful, but not impressive and I can think of verses things to model
