Poor Johnny, he was coerced into leaving. 😛
@@StorytimeWithLana Hi Lana, I'm here. Love this song and video!
@@ItsmeBarry Yea, yummy, yummy pirates. Tim Foust as Captain Jack, so cool.😁😁
@@patwood7011 EXCUSE ME, PLEASE AND THANK YOU????
No no no, NOOOOO!
🚨
One of the very few who mentioned Adam's castanets. 👍
Exactly. Heard so many not even mentioning it. Its almost because they forget its acapella
@@JensaRahm it's so easy to forget that because they are THAT GOOD🥰
It was Adam's amazing talent that perfected this piece.
During the pandemic/quarantine each of the guys set up mini recording studios in their homes (most in their closets). Adam Rupp has his own "beat lab" at his home. He always lays down the beatboxing/percussion after the rest record their vocals. In doing so, the guys were able to give us new songs/content every couple of weeks! Gotta love Home Free!! They're simply the best! Thanks Barry. 💙🍟
How in the World does someone make all those Noises!? Crazy ..
They kept us all sane during the worst of the pandemic.
@@angelabowman1614 lol who knows
@@angelabowman1614 Example. The harmonica is an open "wuah" noise into a cupped hand to bounce it. Oh then you isolate the hell out of in in mic on the board. They admit Adam is not changed but on some is "isolated" through the board. Meaning they boost the trebble and drop the bass.
Thanks for all this info!! These guys are amazing!! Austin worked in a cast on Royal Caribbean cruise ships & that's where I 1st saw him. Now there is no turning back...they are very special!!
Costumes:
Chance and Rob - look like actual sailors
Austin and Tim - look like they are trying out as extras in a pirate movie
Adam - looks like he forgot a costume and made do with props and talent.
From what I've heard, Adam Rupp's costume is actually the most historically accurate.
This song was my first introduction to this amazing group. At the time, I didn't know they were acapella ... I'll never forget the moment I realized that Adam was actually making all the instrument sound with his VOICE -- I was in SHOCK, and HAD to listen again! After that, I started hunting down their videos, fell in love with their singing, performing and personalities ... I have never regretted going down that rabbit hole!
From one Home Fry to another: If you haven't discovered Voice Play, you should check them out, too. They have a different style (more theatrical), but incredibly talented and creative. And they have a bass (Geoff Castellucci) who is just as good as Tim!
@@par500dragon7 My favorite song of theirs is Monster Mash. Among other things I bust out laughing every time I see Geoff's wife twitch when he goes really deep, lol
The Trifecta of Acapella groups is Home Free, Voice Play and Pentatonix. The Trifecta of Basses is Tim Foust (HF); Geoff Castelluci (VP) and Avi Kaplan (formerly of PTX). I like all 3 groups -- they're ALL immensely talented -- but I have to admit that Home Free is my favorite, simply because they can do it all. From songs that will have you laughing your arse off to one's that will have you fighting tears .... and everything in between.... they've got it covered, and they make it look EASY!!
@@sandym6760 Monster Mash was my introduction to Geoff, on his solo channel. I was a fan within 90 seconds for his voice and sense of humor. YT then suggested Oogie Boogie's Song, which was my intro to VoicePlay.
As much as Ain't No Sunshine makes me want to hug and console Geoff, Way On Down makes me squeal and giggle as he lets loose his inner Elvis. And laugh at the gentle poke at some of the ways people mangle his name.
I have favorites, like Headless Horseman and Little Mermaid medley, but pick any song on either channel and you can't go wrong.
@@shirleykarr560 I'm not a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan, but I have a Daughter-in-law that is absolutely bonkers over it. When I watched VP doing the Oogie Boogie Song, I just HAD to send it to my d-i-l, I think it's even BETTER than the original in the movie!! My intro to VP was the song Hoist the Colours. I absolutely love their range and performance in that song!
@@par500dragon7 He's almost as good as Tim. Tim has a natural bigger range. Geoff struggles with the lower notes (which I know sounds ridiculous, because it looks so effortless for him, but he has talked about it on his channel, it's not natural or easy for him, he works at getting the low notes everyone expects of him).
But Voice Play is AMAZING and I do love them.
One of their quarantine songs/videos.
This was a great party even though they were filming separately. Just a masterpiece of the talent these guys have for music. Adam's ability to keep the rhythm flowing through this whole song was just fantastic. My neighbors favorite song whether he likes it or not. 🥰
Ha - Ha - Ha! Shame... Your poor neighbour. This is so funny. Well they must like the playlist, because you're still alive to brag about it. I don't blame you one bit.
@@charleneclaassen LUCKY neighbour :D
Yeah I'm beginning to think they all like it. No noise complaints or police called yet. 🤣
Just freakin' brilliant. Home Free is awesome, and this is a work of art.
More than warmth. Insane *depth*. They had way too much fun. The way they close it is amazing.
American cargo shippers of the 1700 and 1800 were mostly ported in Boston and NYC heavy Irish immigrant cities.
This has blown up on TikTok and Instagram for people dancing to it
I thought sea shanties WERE Irish or at least from Cornwall- where that pirate accent comes from! Love you, Barry!!!
... and they're all standing in five different locations, singing/beat boxing their part and "someone" who is *very talented* at editing and sound mixing turns five different performances from five different locations into one perfectly harmonious whole. Well done.
That would be Darren Rust. Home Free calls him the 6th member of the band. He's genius at production and arranges a large potion of their music.
Intriguing fact
Each was recorded separately during the pandemic then edited together.
Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, made castinette sounds with his voice.
Thank you ^_^
I love the fact that even during the lock down they found ways to put out videos and music even using just their phones and home recording equipment while bigger name artists were bitching about not being able to do anything. These guys are phenomenal and so devoted to their craft and their fans!!!!
This was so much fun!
The tempo progression in this arrangement makes me think of a ship unfurling her sails as she leaves the harbor, catching a good wind, & steadily picking up speed.
If I close my eyes I can almost feel & taste the briny spray breaking over the bow.
Please do a reaction to " Celtic thunder, Seven drunken nights "
YES! But it has to be from the Legacy concert. That one is the most entertaining.
Please do Hoist the Colors by Voiceplay. They are another acapella group that is fantastic
Home Free can craft a song like no one else. Their musicianship is without equal. Adam's vocal percussion/beat boxing was insane. I loved how he upped the tempo with each song and his wave sounds and castanets put the icing on the cake. So freaking good. Thanks for the great reaction.
The Band of a human drum machine, Two tenors, a Bass and a Dragon.
They each did this from their homes on their phones during the lockdown quarantine. It's awesome.
GREAT song by Home Free, my favorite so far!! Can't sit still when this is playing. Have to remind myself that it's just their voices, no instruments. LOVE your reaction Barry☘️💖.
Just popping on late 12:30am to let you know 🫥 now that I know it’s all clear I’m happy to share the good news.
@@ItsmeBarry Great news B☘!!!! Congratulations!!!👏 Hopefully the word get out.... don't mess with Barry!!!! I'm sure you'll sleep well tonight 😴💤. Thanks for letting me know.☺
Although Pentatonix and VoicePlay have both have really good beatboxers, they are standing in Adam Rupp's shadow. He does not stop the whole way thru the song, and keeps an incredible tempo as well. He is truly mind boggling. And your bassy boy, Tim, has a voice that vibrates in your chest. I am glad you finally mentioned Chance's fine, fine voice. Everybody knows what you think of Austin's and big Rob's singing. It's amazing that these 5 guys found each other.
Yes, indeed. Kevin is a very talented human, but ultimately he's a cellist who can beatbox pretty okay. Adam is a champion beatboxer and a drummer. It's... really not even close, especially live. I know I might get lynched for saying so, but the truth is that PTX uses a lot of sampled sounds (Kevin genuinely making the sounds, but then sequencing them in ProTools or whatever) in their most produced official videos.
Live, Tim's voice vibrates your _eyeballs_ so much your vision goes blurry. It's incredible!
Well hello there my dear Barry! It was nice catching you doing a reaction 😃😃🤩 and it was a great reaction as usual!!! Hope to see more soon 😃
Thank you for a great reaction. Tim dressing like Jack Sparrow is funny and he was standing in boat. I have seen a lot of people singing and dancing to Home Free singing this song. That's fun also. Thanks again.
And Austin channeling Johnny Depp!
I must say I enjoy a lot of the different groups and their sea shanties!
I am from Oregon,USA, and I an 76 yrs old! I love music, all kinds!
Remember this was FILMED & RECORDED BY THEM during quarantine in their individual homes across the USA
my second favourite group Voiceplay is my first but I love HomeFree as well they are awesome ❤️🏴
As I've said before, filmed during quarantine.... does Tim have a full pirate outfit at home????
The answer to your question "Who's doing the beat boxing?" That would be the only band member who is brandishing the Stein mug of ale/rum :) He does mostly ALL of the background and beat boxing for all the songs the band covers. :) His name is Adam Rupp, You should check out his Fake/Real Harmonica vocals on A Man of Constant sorrow video. All the sounds are done by all the members at one point or another. Plus it's an Awesome video!
Absolutely sounds Irish! Having just discovered 19per cent Irish in my DNA, I think I am an expert..lol. Always loved a good sea shanty, especially if my home in Australia is mentioned. Great harmonies. Miss singing acapella in a choir so much.
Barry, I have been following Home Free for a long time. I am subbed to their YT page. They won the Sing-off competition the following year after the Pentatonix won. Awesome group!! 💖💖💖
I like Pentatonix, but I think Home Free is better!
@@kathleensanderson3082 I agree! Pentatonix's genius is rrallybin reinterpreting other's songs. I think the Home Free guys have broader skills. Their own songs are as good as their covers of songs that already "made it". I also think that Avi's bass and Mitch's high tenor were unique sounds and Mitch has aged out of that range.
Thank you Mr. Barry for the mid-morning giggles. I'm really starting to love this group.
If I can make my Pat giggle then my jobs done.
@pat wood PAT!!!! I’m sorry for the late response regarding your kind gift. I’m only informed the following day if it arrived after office hours. Then if this daft Irish man doesn’t check his emails, he goes about his day whistling mindlessly, totally unaware that a lovely thing had happened again. I’m very sorry it took so long for me to acknowledge your kindness and generosity.
So with that out of the way….
THANK YOU AGAIN❤️ my lovely Pat. You are far too kind to me. Why do you like this unusual, sometimes very hairy, beardy man? I don’t know but I’m incredibly grateful that you do.
Thank you so much again Pat, I really, really appreciate it ❤️
@@ItsmeBarry I like you because you helped get me through a bad patch a couple years ago. Introducing me to Dimash and your goofy humor was the combination I needed, so I should be thanking you.
@@patwood7011 that’s very nice of you to say. Just so you know; your friendship has helped me too.
Saw them in Edmonton, Alberta during their Canadian tour. When they sang this, the audience blew the roof off the place!!!! It sounded just as good(if not better) than the video! Absolutely phenomenal! And I swear to God, I felt the vibration of Tim's bass in my body for an hour after the concert ended!!!!!
love the simplicidy of them. thumbs up!
This is just as amazing and wonderful live as in the video. They did this at the insistence of the Chance (the first singer in the video). Sea Shanties were all the rage on TikTok and Chance is a fan of sea shanties so he kept at the guys about doing a song/video. So they did this in lockdown and it came out perfectly! The bassline is just...you can feel it in your chest! The percussion is phenomenal. And the wider, deeper tones that Rob (beard and glasses) did in the Cape Cod song...I think there is more there within his voice than we've heard. I can't explain how they do what they do but I just want them to keep doing it!
Adams castinets are fantastic. No one I think mentioned that Tim is standing in a small boat. 😁 He was in his brother in laws yard. This was one of their quarantine videos. They are wonderful
Thanks, Barry. Such a fun song. Thanks for reviewing it. MAYDAY! Now that shows just how good these men are. Epic! Love from Bama.
la, la, la la, lovely Lana. la la how’d yeh do? (that’s an original song that’s bound to make billions!)
THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤️ for the lovely 🎉SuperThanks🎉
it’s my absolute pleasure reacting to these bunch of Barry Boys.
Yes, Mayday has been heavily requested and if it has the Lana stamp of approval, well then it’s going to be great.
Thanks again Lana ❤️
@@ItsmeBarry LOL Most definitely a billion dollars. 💖
I looked it up the other day and I found a song named, "Lana" by Roy Oberson. It was a hit back in 62. I missed out on it, so time for a new one. :)
Cute little song.
All those cute boys singing, "Oh beautiful Lana Don't you know that I wanna, hug and kiss you, Let you know that I miss you."
Dagnabit, I should have lived then. 🤣🤣
If you are in a bad mood, listen to this song and you will happily skip around the room. This is just so nice video and great singing
True story.
Thank you for a lovely reaction, their sea shanty was wonderful.
Such a fun, energetic, and talented group. I could listen to them all day!
❤️🔥❤️🔥☠️
It's amazing live in concert also.
If this video and song don't get the juices flowing, nothing will. Tim Foust's "Jack Sparrow", was perfect for him, tall, lanky and the deep bass voice . These guys did a fabulous job and thank you Barry for reviewing it. If you have time, please check out Tim Foust's solo "In My Room" originally sung by Brian Wilson (Beach Boys), or "Come Go With Me/Love ME Tomorrow
When you listen to this again, notice the sound of the waves hitting the ship in the last part. Amazing effect. Love your reactions!
Yes! I keep hearing those waves as the shanty plays over and over....and over....just can't get enough of these wonderful voices. So glad you jumped down the rabbit hole with us....it would be sad to miss your wonderful Irish eyes twinkling along with their songs. ❤ Keep them coming, Barry. also, Avi, former bass for PTX, has a new album that just dropped a week or so ago. If you haven't heard it yet, I highly recommend giving some thought to reacting to it. Thanks for being you....till next time.
At first I was like sea shanty? What? Chance (first singer) loves shanties and watched them on TikTok, he brought the idea to the boys and they weren’t sure….they did it and success! They did this during Covid so they filmed alone at home and yes, some went full pirate mode. Loved Tim, the bass, as Capt. Jack Sparrow. He was in the basement the whole time. They did it in the TikTok style too. Such fun. Did you hear Adam, the beatboxer doing castanets? Remarkable. Good reaction Barry.😆
Barry, this is really fun to hear LIVE at one of their concerts !!!
I think this is my favourite Home Free video. I find myself going back to it over and over and ... well, you know .... great reaction, Barry!!
The bass is Tim Foust, he's dressed as Jack Sparrow.
That was sooooo fun, buddy. Keep in this way. And soon live 😂
It's even more wonderful in person! They include this in their tour this year!
As always I love the double reaction & your absolute delight.
What a fun song. Thank you for sharing this song.
I love this medley and have to listen to it EVERY TIME I see it!!!
This is my favorite ’get ya going’ songs! I have a ‘pirate’ playlist.
This one from Home free…Hoist the colors by Voice Play…misty mountains from the Wellerman & Colin r mcguinness…Change on the rise by Avi Kaplan
Plz review those…if you haven’t already.
It is truly appreciated the way you respect
the performers by first listening quietly and taking in the presentation and then at
the second time through telling us what you think. Be well. BTW, Home Free just
released a new cover at 1 o'clock Eastern
this afternoon. It is Randy Travis' song
"Forever and ever, Amen". Beautiful love song. Hope you like it.
this was so good live. they performed it at their concert I went to in April. Amazing
How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. Love all the guys parts, with Tim's rumbling bass underlying it all. And Adam's beatboxing is phenomenal as always including sea swells & castanets. Amazing how he increased the tempo from one song to another. These songs do have an Irish feel.
Yay! Thank you for doing this video! It's SO fun! Please do Brothers In Arms and Mayday! They are so very good!
I heard this song from Chris De Burgh on the album "Moon Fleet Bay", they did a fantastic job, I've also followed Chris De Burgh since the 70's have all of his albums...Love Barry's reactions. Home Free nothing but love for them
Because the Irish are among the most musical people and have been upon every ship afloat since Oliver Cromwell tried to end 'em.
This is such an addictive song. Everytime I hear it, it gets stuck in my head for days.
Oh, it's ONLY about time!! I suggested this song MONTHS ago and sat here waiting...waiting. So glad you enjoyed. This medley was an earworm for at least a month; woke up with in my head, "heard" it all day, and went to bed with it still looping. I especially love Adam's castanets on Santianna, and Austin's getting into pirate mode. Thanks Barry!
I've watched this video many times. So much happiness in the song and the reaction! Thanks Barry!
Amazing
The HF guys showing their creativity once again: using the TikTok format to manage their separation during quarantine ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Tim staying so still to keep from falling out of the boat he's standing in--it makes me laugh because every time I see him in this I think of the animated pirates in Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean. 😆
And those castanets!! Adam Rupp's percussion and sound effects are second to none!! 🥰
You're so cute when you get enthusiastic Barry.
To answer a few questions you posed. Yes this was done during the epidemic, a few months after the Wellerman went viral on Tik Tok. Tim (Bass) is just plain amazing with his range. (Adam) Rupp the vocal percussionist has been referred to by the group as "The man that swallowed a drum set" just proves his versatility in this video. I had to listed to it several times during the last segment to make sure that they weren't real castanets. Simply amazing and very catchy!
He has a nice video of his drum solo. Amazing.
I love your videos! You make me smile even when I’m having a bad day. Thank you!
Hey Barry, yes this a GREAT one by Home Free....yes this was during "Covid" and was done as an off of TikTok....just so clever...the arrangement & the boys dressing up too.
i've seen home free 5 times now, and there are no words when you see them live, absolutely amazing!
What I loved about this video is that we hear Rob's lower register. I love his upper range but the lower part is so warm and expressive.
Austin channeling Captain Jack Sparrow is a hoot. Tim's just gorgeous.
I love Pirate-Core cosplay. But it can be hard to do because you have to order the suits and merchandise online or make it yourself.
The reason that it sounds Irish is probably owing to the fact that Ireland produced so many sea-faring men (especially around the time of the Potato Famine). Shanties were used on board ships as working songs to get large groups of men to perform a task in a rhythmic manner.
They did this in 2019 in the middle of COVID 19. Frankly they pioneered the "record separately/remix" thing.
I've never heard it before.😮
The beat boxer is amazing
I really love your double reactions, keep them coming!
Yes! Let's do it again. ❤️
The a capella castanets are amazing!
You are the FIRST reactor who actually picked out the castanets in the last song. Finally!!
Absolutely adore this song they are just??? getting Goosebumps when they sing this song..
Giggley woo! I died laughing
Yours is the only channel on which I can truly hear Tim’s incredible bass.
Howdy from a Home Fry in Nebraska, USA. Great reaction, as always! Love this one - “Bassy Boy” Tim really anchors this all the way through (excuse the pun) with his incredible bass, Chance’s lead is super strong, and Adam’s castanets blew me away the first time I heard them. I especially like watching Adam with the skull he’s tossing around…. Keep the reactions to Home Free coming!
Merci ! Hello Barry I don't know if the weather is nice in Ireland ? Otherwise I send you the magnificent sun and the warm from Burgundy. Thanks for the reaction to Home Free I love it
Bonjour Eveline 👋
THANK YOU VERY MUCH ❤️ for another lovely 🎉SuperThanks🎉
the weather in Ireland is a little dull and windy at the moment, so I’ll happily take some of the magnificent sun and warmth from beautiful Burgundy. It’s an absolute pleasure reacting to Home Free. Encore merci beaucoup Eveline ❤️
...and, YES!!! 😁
These guys look like they had a really good time with this song!
What's a pirate's favorite letter?
They really like the sea (c).😂
Oh, sorry, I have heard it before! But not by Home Free!!❤❤❤ I love it!!😅😅❤❤😊😊
These guys are the best! Homefree! Arrrggh!😘
Oh, these guys definitely know how to deliver the goods, and have fun! This was Chance’s idea to do the Sea Shanties! He had to do a little convincing to the other guys, but it’s so fun to watch! Loved your reaction! Did you catch the castinettes sound from the super talented beatoboxer during “Santana”? Perhaps you can check out more Home Free soon?! They just released a Randy Travis cover of “Forever and ever, Amen” today. Or perhaps some of their other recent releases like “Between a Rock and a Heartache” or a really amazing one “Brothers In Arms” that will knock your socks off!
Their harmonies are out of this world! Love their saucy style in this one. Thanks for the great reaction.
And the Bass lines of most of the songs is Tim Foust; He's the Pirate dressed up in the Full Cap'n Jack Sparrow Pirate outfit. :)
I've seen these guys in concert FANTASTIC
I was absolutely thrilled when home free did this medley!
I am the granddaughter of an Irish sea captain on my mother's side and he sang these songs to me when I was little.
He was born in 1912 so it's been a hot minute... what really blows me away out of this entire medley is the castinettes!
Very nice touch!
I love home Free. They sing amazing and they are very creative and also funny. Pentatonix are amazing singers too, their hallelujah is crazy but i prefer home free overall. They just make you happy
So crazy good...that’s my professional opinion!
Congratulations, you my good friend are the only reactor that I've seen mention Adam Rupp's castenets, which are one of his finest effects. And yes, yes, yes: all of the good things that be said of a reactor. Thank you.
Home Free launched a new video today titled From Here To The Moon and Back. It features Maggie Baugh who is currently on tour with them. Hope to see you review it soon😊Love your channel. It's one of my favorites on UA-cam.
Great commentary...really like the way you enjoy their work.
