This song is so epic, and I don't use this word often! From the same album I want to recommend the power song 'Ghost in the moon'. More Avantasia please! Tobias Sammet is one of the greatest musicians from my country but still a hidden gem on You Tube reaction channels.

I love Avantasia! It's a supergroup and the brainchild of Tobias Sammet, who is an excellent songwriter and vocalist. He brought Sascha Paeth (guitarist well known for engineering and production with Rhapsody of Fire, Kamelot, Epica, and many others), Miro (keyboardist who also worked with Kamelot and Rhapsody of Fire), and his own drummer from Edguy, Felix Bohnke, along for the ride.
As a supergroup, Tobias picks up incredible talents from across heavy metal, especially power and symphonic metal, to join as guests for his work. From the likes of Floor Jansen and Sharon den Adel, to Timo Tolkki and Jens Johanssen, to Dee Snider and Alice Cooper, and many many others. This particular track included guest vocals from Hansi Kürsch of Blind Guardian and Jørn Lande of Jorn.
I definitely like to recommend The Scarecrow (the Flying Opera live HD at Wacken), which also brings on Jørn Lande and Michael Kiske (best known for his time with Helloween). Definitely check it out if you like Avantasia! 😎🤘

The raven parts are a recall to "The Scarecrow" from one of their previous albums, so epic to hear them here again.

I loved to see both of you rocking out to one of my favourite songs.
Tobias Sammet is the mind behind Avantasia. Like Ayreon, he also features a lot of different singers, but not to the extend that Arjen does, and he has a fantastic voice himself. Here Tobi sings as well as Hansi Kürsch and Jorn Lande.
Tobias also writes concept albums, and sometimes the story goes on to a 2nd or 3rd album.
For your next reaction I strongly recommend The Scarecrow live at Wacken (with Tobias and Jorn) ua-cam.com/video/LTyxnUZMA1k/v-deo.html
BTW The Raven Child is also a poem by Edgar Allan Poe (there are a few references to this in the song)

Wikipedia has a page on the album for this song which has a blurb from Tobias Sammet which summarises the narrative. The gist is that it's about a nocturnal fairy that struggles with feelings of isolation due to seemingly being the only one of its kind and is thus unable to relate to everything around him. And thus he tries to find a place he belongs. I will admit, of all the Avantasia sagas, this is the hardest one to follow because unlike the Metal Opera, the Scarecrow trilogy, or the Mystery of Time albums, this narrative is a lot more abstract in comparison.

The longest tracks on an Avantasia album always seem to be the best. They're always a true joy to listen to and a real musical journey.

Tobi is a musical genius, Avantasia is the German version of Ayreon
