What Is a Bond?
A bond is a fixerd income instrument that represents a loan made by an investor to a borrower (typically corporate or governmental). A bond could be thought of as an I.O.U between the lender and borrower that includes the details of the loan and its payments. Bonds are used by companies, municipalities, states, and sovereign governments to finance projects and operations. Owners of bonds are debtholders, or creditors, of the issuer.
What Is a Coupon?
A coupon or coupon payment is the annual interest rate paid on a bond, expressed as a percentage of the face value and paid from issue date until maturity. Coupons are usually referred to in terms of the coupon rate (the sum of coupons paid in a year divided by the face value of the bond in question).
What is zero coupon?
A zero coupon bond is a bond in which is the face value is Rapid at the time of maturity. Regular bonds it does not make periodic interest payments or have so called coupon, Hence the term zero coupon Bond. When the bound reaches maturity It's Investor receives its fer value.
What is perpetual bond?
A perpetual bond, also known colloquially as a perpetual or perp, is a bond with no maturity date therefore allowing it to be treated as equity, not as debt. Issuers pay coupon on perpetual bonds forever, and they do not have to redeem the principle. Perpetual bond cash flows are, therefore, those of a perpetuity.
