I'll say it again: most emotional final boss theme in the series. This isn't a satisfying fight. You're not beating up an evil villain who deserves it. You're doing the most painful thing in your life. And you know regret will follow...
Nah, this is way beyond Decisive Collision. That one was great, but C is just someone you knew for one game, and only knew personally for about half a game. Plus, he WAS a villain. He DID do bad stuff. Whether you think those actions were justified is up to you. And it's not like you're gonna kill him. It's just a fight to stop him invading your school. (Kai spoilers below obviously) This is completely different. A girl you've known personally for three games, and who never did anything wrong. A girl who even confessed to you just a short while prior. You're forced to fight her, because of a situation out of your control. And you're helpless, because neither winning nor losing has a good result. You face loss on a grand scale. Even the song itself is way harder-hitting, with those violins and those vocals. It really hammers in the grandeur of what's happening and the consequences of this fight.
@@calokbrown1365 This isn't Agnes's boss theme, it's Grendel-Shadai's (Rene Kincaid). It has a similar merit; main character's best friend acting on behalf of Agnes (kinda).
@@calokbrown1365 You arent exactly fighting agnes' you are against her ideologically but you are fighting kincaid. Still Kincaid is Van's best friend from all the way back when they were kids and seeing him be willing to sacrifice Agnes must have hurt Van.
building up then it hits 2:14 is so tragic, Unisuga is really pulling at the emotional strings for me. Then 2:31 sounds like some hope is returning. Its genuinely beautiful how a song can have a mix of 2 emotions telling a story and without feeling like a mess. 🐐
@lolbruhmoment80 I can see this being the final boss theme for CS3, but Falcom said 'Let's just reuse the dungeon theme for Sanctuary of the Dark Dragon for the final boss instead. They both sound similar either way' and shelved this track for 7 years.
A certain different feeling while past engagement facing off the Demon Overlord, The Crimson Beast, The Perfect Steel of ZERO. However now, going through a unpredictable dire situation at the endgame that leaves the heroes stunned.
WAITED AND WAITED UNISUGA FOR TWO HUNDRED LONG YEARS THIS TIME YOU WILL BE MY COMPOSER NOT MITSUO SINGA AGREE, AND I SHALL DELIVER FALCOM SOUND TEAM JDK FROM DEATH
The King of Kings has graced us with a masterful final boss theme! I still cannot believe this song truly exists, I feel blessed to listen to it. It's really amazing how despite this possibly being from 2017, it fits the fight immaculately; the sheer emotional desperation in this reminds me of Touhou's "The Lost Emotion", another final boss theme that gives off much the same vibes as this one. Absolutely fantastic title too, I guess they saved their translator budget for this one, haha. Just a superlative display of Unisuga's prowess at full force, here. Absolutely phenomenal! Unisuga is one of a kind. I hope that, whenever the time comes when he truly leaves Falcom, he takes up composing once more.
@@Schinak it's actually both. Here, it would be more the Days of Wrath, as in, start of the apocalypse methinks (and more importantly, as in, Last Day)
@@GuyNumbers What exactly are you basing that off? It uses that exact same instruments as 'One way to the netherworld' and has the cold steel motif. Would not be surprised if it was meant to be used against the nameless one but was scrapped for whatever reason.
@@ClaireDidNothinWrong Unisuga sounds like Unisuga when he stopped composing full time. Shocker. There’s no Cold Steel motif in this. I don’t understand how people think they sat on this for 7 years, especially when cs3 didn’t even have a final boss theme to begin with.
@@GuyNumbers 0:54 is so CS3. It sounds way too similar to 'One way to the netheworld' and thinking about it now, would've been a great track for the nameless one boss battle. I want Unisuga to come back as well but your reasoning doesn't make sense.
I... did not enjoy this soundtrack. It felt half-hearted, at best. My personal favorite final boss theme (you're free to argue it's not the true final boss theme) is still Celestial Coalescence (battle vs Ebon Knight, Cold Steel IV) That one felt downright terrifying. It felt like a battle you wanted to face. This one feels... unfinished.
I consider Unisuga to be one of the greatest alchemists of our time for his ability to turn VSTs into gold.

Kai finale I kneel. peak final boss theme
holy shit fazpersona
One way to the Dies Irae. I can't do anything but kneel on this majestic piece of music 🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of the best final boss themes in the series. So good yet so devastating.
I'd say it's THE BEST. Despite being (arguably) an unfinished leftover from the King.
Thank you Unisuga... His strings and percussion are so good. Also, cool title.
Gotta say the looping for this track in-game is perfection.
It’s really cool that this title is a reference to Battle Junction -1209-. Thematic connection between the Grendel rivals.

Sounds like Decisive Collision to me

Sounds like a mix of FF13 and Nier Automata tracks. Love how the vocal slowly appears from the background.

Awesome name for an awesome song, rare Kiseki naming W.
My uncle works for Falcom and said singa is composing all the music for Trails in the Sky 1st remake

A masterful song. Truly incredible. The fact that a leftover was still able to full fit the context of kai is amazing.
