But after two disastrous World Cups resulting in early exits at Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 many people could no longer identify with the squad. At EURO 2024 the "Mannschaft" was under a lot pressure. Criticized by many fans for political gestures and poor performances as right-wing politicians mocked them as the “rainbow team.”
But things changed at EURO 2024: How did a new diverse team under coach Julian Nagelsmann shake off criticism and manage to get back support? This is the story how the German team won back their country.

I can tell you all not Germans …. That Euros, that team is one of the best we ever had we went unlucky being kicked out in quarterfinals while being the second best team of all teams….. but that team gave us hope and unity

I really lost hope in Die Mannschaft after the last few tournaments. I was expecting the worst going into this tournament. But the teams performance really brought back the confidence I lost recently in this team.
As someone who’s been a fan of the German national team since 2006, for someone who has lived in Germany and the country will always have a special place in my heart, their performance makes me very optimistic about the future of the team and the future of the country as a whole.

It's great to highlight the individual identities of the team, but the most important identity is still a footballing one.
This takes individuals whose strengths complement each other and are based on the identity of talent and effectiveness.
It might not make for a complete rainbow, but it does make for a complete team.

The difference between Spain and Germany lies in the fact that coach La Fuente has jewels and he plays them and coach Nagelsmann has also jewels but he keeps them on the bench.

@@dwkickoff I mean Wirtz (awarded the best Bundesliga player), Schlotterbeck, Mittelstadt, Gross, Fullkrug, Fuhrich and Beier. Sané did not deserve to play a single second. Havertz is a super player but he is actually not a number 9. Germany could have done more better if the coach had made the right decisions and choices.

many poeple in the comments say oh you lost in quater finals and are happy thats says a lot and so on. but i have to say that this team maybe lost in the quater finals (which was a final before the final) but was again an exciting team. a team which played cool football you liked to watch. and i am happy that we can compete again with strong teams and if we do very good in 2026 i will come back to this video and ask: WO SIND DIE HATER

10 or 20 years ago, Germany was going into a tournament looking and expecting to win it, now they are "happy" with a quarter-final exit. That says a lot.
We are not happy with the outcome of the tournament, but with the way we were playing. If you are not german, you dont know how much the last 3 big competitions hurt us germans. We were playing shit and were not fighting and thats why there got more and more distance between the Team and their fans. But this was the first time (since 2014 if i'm really honest) that the Team was fighting for each other and for the fans. For the frist time we were playing exciting football, even the second most exciting football of all teams. We loved every second of it and we germans know that we are back and will achieve great things again in the near future. But yea usually Germany is not satisfied with being knocked out in the last 8

The fact that getting knocked off in the quarter finals of a continental competition you're hosting as Germany can be seen at least as a partial success says a lot about how bad the national team of this once great footballing nation managed to become...

It's more about how you are eliminated, eliminated against the european champion while playing on same level.
I think that it has more to do that had Spain played fair, Germany would’ve won. Germany was the better team in the last three halves.

@@tarik6990 the whole video is about the topic of how a "rainbow" football team(Including muslim Players) needs to "unite" a "divided" nation. Why does no divers football team have to unite Croatia or Poland or Italy? Because there is no question who is Croatian, who is Polish or who is Italian and who is not. Toni Kroos is a German Player and he said he will stay in Spain even after his Career is finished, because Germany is not any more the Germany when he left 10 years ago.

And for the record, there are many Argentinian, Brazilian and Nigerian players who have played for Italy. Poland had a Black player once, Croatia had a few Brazilians.

in 2021 they played against France, win against Portugal in group stage, in last 16 against England and lost only 1:0 after that everybody said it was dissapointing in my oppinon i dont think so, , this time they had (very) easy opposing teams also in last 16 against denmark... in summary it were easy to go to quarter finals, there they last 2:1 against spain, they get 1 goal more than in the last 16 in 2021 that means they were better at the last Euros

I was giving an standing ovation to nagelsmann after first 3 games when he left out useless Sane on the bench, only to get him in the starting 11 for the second round! 😂 that s when i said its over this German team wont go too far, with a player like Sane there was no way Germany could win this tournament. He s overrated and useless.
