No need to worry about backups at that stage. All he needs is an external monitor and he should be good to go with that for the moment.
he should still figure out the coverage though, because if he goes even 1 day over the manufacturer’s warranty, that’s nada bueno. And like what’s the point of having a laptop if he’s gonna need to haul the external monitor around? But I get your point. Although if he damaged the motherboard he’s kinda shift outta caps lock
