my absolute favorite of ministry, nothing compares to this whole album....
i agree!
Filthpig is a masterpiece
@@boneytony5041 It is. Just like another overlooked album released in 1996 btw - "Shot" by Jesus Lizard.
@@puupasiecodrowonszniejacek just had a listen. Thanks for the recommend.
@@boneytony5041 it's a grower, give it a chance
Love this form of Ministry, mechanical yet nearly psychedelic
That's what I like about the album, psychedelic, doom, and industrial.. wonderful ingredients to an amazing work of art
Brick windows.......
Yeah, you nailed it. This is peak Ministry IMO. Not every track on the album, but most of them... just soar and fly into a dream state. I shared Brick Windows lyrics with my sister, who is NOT a metalhead at all, and she absolutely got it.
A joyful noise rising above the din of cultural decline. Beautiful. Never fails to put a lump in the throat.
Whole album puts a lump in my throat...
The den? Edit
Probably just about anyone who listens to ministry ❤️. We all only have a short time left on this place .

That bassline tho'!!
Some say it's still going......
beautiful
I am dancing right now
the percussion sounds like it was recorded in a room just big enough for the drum kit. fantastic and somehow liberating.
This song is in my Top 10 of all time.
I bought this album in Mexico City when I was only 13 and played it nonstop for the entire 2 weeks I was there. So grateful for the memories this album brought me.
An interesting mix of hope and despair in this overlooked and often misunderstood album. It feels more personal and seems to tell a story more so than any other Ministry album. One of my favs for sure. I enjoy it more each time I listen.
well put, and although the despair greatly outweighs the hope, it ends with a feeling that maybe, just maybe youll find a dim path of light to follow out of the darkness.
just a phenomenal album that, according to Al Jorgenson seemed to develop into its own sound and feel. I dont know how many "Industrial Doom" (and if I may have just made that up just now) albums there are out there, but this album is the epitome of coming up with something unique and original that works on every level....maybe someday Al will actually be happy with it!:)
Greatest ministry record of all time...Paul Barker is sorely missed 🍻🎯🎙🎯🍻
@@francisbottoni6470 For certain
It's a coming of age album. Something new each listen, each year, and every decade since it's release. From my youth to my now nearing middle age; full of wisdom.
One of Al's best. Oh yeah. This is the type of song that you merge onto the highway at speed on a glorious, sunny day. Car stereo on full blast, windows down.
I'm not saying this is the greatest album-closer of all-time, but.... this is the greatest album-closer of all-time.
One of the greatest songs written and this is one of the best covers ever! 👏🏽
Bill Rieflin drums here is just magical 😻
bill left after psalm i think. This is rey washam. Almost as good as bill 🤘
@@sethmatthews7394 not Washam...check ur sources, jackass
@@francisbottoni6470 in Lay Lady Lay clip it's Rey Washam
I love how this song is the closing of the album and how upbeat and positive and friendly it sounds compared to the rest of the album which is dark and heavy. It's basically like a happy ending to the story and theme of the album being like: "That wasn't so bad. Everything was tough and it really seemed impossible to get through but we did it somehow and it wasn't so bad. Everything's okay now." I always feels like this song foreshadows Al's recovery from drugs and alcohol in from this point on in 1996 during the Filth Pig era and because it's a uplifting closing song in contrast to the previous ending songs of the albums which are dark, sad, and scary (Abortive, Dream Song, and Corrosion) all of which were made before when he was struggling severely with addiction. But this closing track being not dark, scary or sad sounding signifies that everything is going to be ok.
awesome album thats totally underrated ?true classic MINISTRY if you ask me?hell even the lay lady lay cover aint all that bad?killer classic?
I like their cover more than the original Dylan version
No doubt, Michael. Brick Windows, Crumbs, Lava...all incredible tracks. This is an honest, creative album by artists who weren't resting on their laurels. They could've made millions by giving Warner Bros. and their newly found metal fans a redux of Psalm 69, but they chose to keep challenging themselves. I find pretty much everything from Land of Rape & Honey through AnimositisominA interesting as hell...especially those aural poems such as "Grace," "Dreamsong," etc. Such tracks are far beyond the talents of rockers dominating the airwaves back then...or now for that matter.
Check out the live version with Eddie Vedder on stage, he's so high. Such a good performance. Definitely like thier version better than Dylan's.
To this very day, FILTH PIG from start to finish is an immaculate offering...every song has visceral engaging quality...FP is a flawless victory and although the latest record AmeriKKKant is actually quite good, I hope Uncle Al/Hypo Luxa gets back together with his longtime partner in crime Paul Barker/Hermès Pan🙏🏼
Agree completely, Francis. I'm listening to the track, "Game Over," at the moment. Good stuff. Al may be accused of a few things, but stagnating is not one of them. But yeah, his collaboration w/ Paul was something special. In my humble opinion, they achieved precisely what they set out to do, which was to create the darkest, heaviest music around, both sonically and lyrically. Just listen to "Broken" from '03.
Dang just discovered this song and I have been a fan for a long time I think I am in love again
Reminds me of my days in college. I used to work out with this album blasting in the background. Pure focused energy. Awesome album.
Thank you Ministry:)
opening squally cutting in and out guitar is courtesy of a broken switch on one of Al's guitars
Al’s vocals is reminiscent of 1000 Homo DJs era...that voice is my FAV...so unique 🎃💋👁🧚🏼♀️
My fav Ministry song...it oddly reminds me of Sonic youth
I know what you mean. It's like a super heavyweight nightmarish disfigured brother to Eric's Trip
Thats it right there I couldn't think of it
Best lyrics ever
One of the most under rated rock record ever made. Still sounds today...
Thumbs down to your stupid ass “underrated” comment
@@knucklehead564 I Produced the videos for this record. It was a brilliant record. My reload video still holds up today. It was over looked. Which means it was highly under-rated. Get a clue...

I like to head bang to this song for eternity!
Quarantine music
Masterpiece
Favorite Ministry abum, end of story.
tune or what this is epic
Been bangin' my head against the window
Just trying to see the world outside
Some people say it doesn't matter
Some people take you for a ride
I am covered in blood and broken glass
It seems the window likes to fight
Some people say the world's on fire
Some people say the world's on ice
Some people say the world's on ice
Sweet home alone in alienation
Brick windows
I am sticking my face right through the glass
Just trying to see if the world's alive
Some people say the window's broken
Some people say it's all right
Some people say it's all right
Keep bangin' my head against the wall, wall
Just trying to keep the past alive
Some people who make the windows shatter
Some people who make it air tight
Some people who make it air tight
Sweet home alone in alienation
Sweet home alone in alienation
Brick windows
Brick windows
Logic persists.
sweet home alone?
Uncle Al was a poet and his voice sounded so perfect back then
@@francisbottoni6470 The Angel is one of my most fav Ministry songs
@@moongrime great tune and twitch is a milestone of an album...Uncle Al seems like a good dude but I think he has severe emotional problems...he actually slammed Twitch just like he did With Sympathy...it makes no sense to me when a person beats themselves up for being exceptionally talented. I'd imagine Clive Davis was baffled by his behavior as well. At least we can enjoy what's out there despite how feels about himself...I hope he figures it out instead of smoking like a chimney and drinking like a fish.
This is my fav album from al
Awesome
best track on the album.
It does matter
This album kills!
Sweet all alone in isolation --- how actually in this time of disease --
I love the sound of O around those who thought I was a Q , Loved how it all blended in so splendidly 😎🌌💥🌎☄️🎥🌟
Classic
For some odd reason? When the guitar and drums kick in, it makes me think of kmfdm "split" the live version from 1992.
Great song 🔥😎🤟🏻
Rockabilly with Metal. !?!?!.. damn Al that works.
I'm just gonna put this out there:
Like it
Used to love playing this song on acoustic & I sang it...turned it into an alt-rock folk song...what fun I had with this song!!
